The black one isn't a Spinnaker!?! Not sure if I get the language right, he keeps talking about sailing with Spinnaker?
I was alone in some storms on an Alberg Triton in the 90's, but I have a bike integral helmet. I get the idea from Eric Tabarly, famous french racer since the 60's up to the 90's.
Thanks for showing us this experiment!

I like this dude better than Toby.
It’s a nice boat, but modern hull designs don’t really punch through waves do they? The flat (Ok rounded) hulls forward of the keel slam into anything other than benign seas and the whole boat then tries to shake itself to pieces. This makes a mockery of putting the “owners” cabin fwd as very few owners appreciate experiencing negative g whilst beating into weather.
More cruising oriented first 36, kinda. Only missing shaft drive instead of saildrive
i like your Vids but please invest in some sort of camera stabilizers or gimbal or camere with auto stabilzer. The shaking drives one nuts...
Would I sleep soundly with one of my children standing at one of those helms on a dark rough night sail.
HR still continues to create and build functional, beautifully structured boats to easily fit different financial choices/options. 2024 and their 50-60’s footers still take my breath away. If ever the times arrive when I can afford a yacht, HR is the only way to go.
Yeah, 200k somewhat acceptable, not price gouging. I feel like people who would like to go ocean racing on the cheap are more likely to pick a smaller design buildable in plywood and build it for 20k. Probably 50k too expensive for it to be a massive widespread success; I mean, this thing is bare bone AF. At least it has a pretty sweet chart table.
We use Windrider 17s so this would be great.❤❤❤🙏🙏👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧⛵️⛵️
How much?
learned to sail on her when she was owned by Midland Bank, great boat, great adventures, great memories.
Imagine healing around 35 degrees and walking on a deck of a fast yacht you just got to know for hours and explaining all the details ... this is just a masterpiece of your (incl crew) work. Thank Theo for uploading and supporting us with those superb reviews.
What about the twin rudder and the control of the boat while maneuvering with the engine? Is it responsive or not so much?
That would have to be the gentlest capsize in history and in no way a reflection of real world events.
this is a pet peeve but professional journalists in this space should be able to pronounce Boot Düsseldorf correctly. It smacks of either arrogance and inattention or, quite frankly, stupidity.
Sehr ausführlicher Rundgang mit guter Erläuterung!
Ridiculous low headroom designed for dwarfs. How do you sleep with all those windows letting the light in.Overpriced for a boat with some poor interior design issues
you heaved to with engine on , why is that?
Sweet
IKEA interior, unprotected propeller shaft, unprotected rudders... Holiday boat in the Mediterranean...
You could not usr those excape hatches if the cat inverted. The water pressure would be too strong
still looks like ikea on inside and the hull badly sprayed at bottom could see different shading
Having sailed on the Atlantic in Force 10 winds for days. Sailing and taking care of the boat is actually the smaller thing. Mainly, having too much sails becomes very uncomfortable, but an ocean going yacht should stand more than the sails. Hours and days, the main thing is to take care of the crew's wellbeing and capacity. If all are seasick, exhausted, stressed and angry, there is nobody to take care of the boat and sailing. If you sail this kind of weather longer than a couple of hours, you have to be able to visit the toilet regularly, sleep, have something warm to eat and drink and so on. So, as you did, you secure all the lockers and loose items. The become dangerous very fast. As much as possible, you try to have a dry place to sleep. You make warm meals. Working on the deck is to be avoided. Should I tell you how changing a traditional head sail in 5 - 7 metre waves feels like? :D I guess, I could not do it anymore. Even in cockpit, you were your safety equipment. And in order to save your strength, you don't even sit without support. Every time the boat rolls, accelerates or decelerates, you need your muscles, which consumes your energy, which causes hunger, which is not so easy satisfy. The meal is not served on deck 9 in the bow section of the vessel. It is what you manage to make and eat. Thus, in order to work with your boat, navigate and communicate, you avoid exhaustion, hunger, thirst cold,, pain and you visit the toilet regularly even if it is hard. And you clean it after the visit! Seasickness and coli bacteria is, I guess, quite a nice compound! :D (And you don't keep your torches next to the main compass..)
has no keel?
Parabéns barco espetacular, uma dúvida: qual material do mastro, devido a ele ser auto portante?
Not exactly the Contessa 32 you sailed in storm conditions. Plastic boats last 50 years and more. Where does all the end of life material go ? No wonder Orcas are upset.
looks like a great boat to sail in, just a bit sad it dosent have the double rudder, in case you go out and have a bit of a rough weather id like to have the option of the two rudders, in any case, a fantastic boat and i love the design
Very good video and suggestions. Excellent comments. And, amazing sound!
Surprisingly reasonable price for a fully specced boat of that size. Good layout, with two cabins and a single heads, as that's what the vast majority of boats of this size needs.
No no no, horrible boat!
Why?
Thank you!
As you've clearly been on the pop the night before, great job Theo :-)
my first thought when I started watching this!
Or he is unwell... Wasn't the port and starboard wrong
Another great tour from someone who knows more than ‘I sailed the ICW and to Bermuda’ or ‘look 👀, my onlyfans wannabe girlfriend has boobs’ .
Looks very good to me. Considering how well the 349 sails, this hull should be as good if not somewhat better. The only thing i would change, and that is for almost all modern boat, is a far better place for holding and working on paper charts. I know this model has a provision for charts, but it is likely a tiny space.
Who in their right minds uses paper charts today? Perhaps for long-distance cruising in third-world countries, but surely not coastal or near-coastal cruising in Europe!
@@mytube001Who in their right mind would venture out of sight of land in one of these IKEAlike AWBs
Thank you!
Thank you!
this guy and his blathering mumbles was hard to listen to
Very innovative design there. Like it a lot. Congratulations to GT
What’s the song at the beginning?
We need a video on how you dock this thing
What is the actual name of this boat?
That is not a boat I would buy. It has no personality and looks like ikea
Wow! how many of us will actually even use our extinguishers in a practice sort of situation to see just how hard extinguishing a fire can be. Certainly i havn't. Great stuff. Thanks for taking the time to do this to inject a little bit of reality even though it has been a few years since. . I have all powder extinguishers aboard and now am thinking of buying a breathing mask to go with them. Also, that hole in the companionway is a great idea. Think im going to incorporate that into my boat.
Always ta good idea to push your envelope in controlled conditions
One of the clearest and comprehensive Video on mast climbing Thanks
Have to disagree on one point. The welded bar for the chain plates are a weakness. If one goes, they all, on that side, can go.
