  • In Colonial America, anything that flew, walked, or swam was fit to be fried, roasted, or charred over open fire. Join James Beard Award-winning author Michael W. Twitty in Virginia's 18th-century time capsule known as Colonial Williamsburg, where the legacy of millions of African Atlantic people survives in food. By recreating meals at this living museum, Twitty illustrates how African Atlantic history is instructive to culinary culture, all the way down to the barbecue we eat today.

    Guess what, every Country cooked like that. And people that went to the Americas took that with them. Ever heard of the silk road? If you want to teach about African cooking you need to show us something that is only done in Africa over the centuries. What I see here is what people in Europe did long before the USA was created. I would enjoy seeing some african cooking,

      This guy is following his passions and making a living from it. Just because he's black doesn't mean he has to talk about African inspired cuisine... he has a niche and sticks with it.

    Rubbing bare hands over raw poultry is disgusting. The chicken will be cooked and the germs will die. The ones on your hands will be spread around everything you touch. Disgusting.

    • @kabernat
      @kabernat Před rokem +2

      Stop being so critical. The man has done this for years and he’s okay and still here. Back in the 1800’s this is what they did and it was not viewed as disgusting at all. They did not view cleanliness in the same way that we do today. They would probably just wipe it off on their aprons.

    • @grayisgood
      @grayisgood Před rokem

      @@kabernat Guess what Rachel? They also died young in large part because of bacterial illnesses that we know how to prevent and cure today. So PLEASE DO handle raw poultry and touch everything. You should NEVER wash your hands for any reason. Just wipe them on your clothes. I'm sure that will work out well for you. And oh yeah, stop going around insulting people who said something smarter than you. How do you think you look when I say something intelligent and you come back with something stupid in an attempt to insult me? Not real good.

    • @kabernat
      @kabernat Před rokem +1

      @@grayisgood It hit a nerve when you called this good man disgusting. I was defending Mr. Twitty. He is a kind and beautiful soul.
      So instead of finding fault with the video, look at the the message that he was trying to convey instead of worrying about germs and what is disgusting.

    • @grayisgood
      @grayisgood Před rokem

      @@kabernat His behavior of spreading disease inducing germs everywhere is disgusting. His getting on youtube and teaching his dirty sickness inducing habits to others is disgusting. You can't change that fact no matter how hard you deny it or pretend it doesn't exist. You have your own lessons to learn, I don't need your advice. Thanks.
