    These open back headphones are a great stepping stone into the world of audiophile gear. Just be careful with them as they put more resources into sound quality than build quality!

    Dude, what the hell is wrong with the mic?

    I've used these for 3 years and had no problems with durability. The cable is annoying the way it coils though. Phenomenal 3d sound in shooters and binaural videos. It's almost cheating, I can hear exactly where people are when they move.

    Very good phones for the price. They can get loud on a variety of sources but only sound articulate when amped.

    I've been looking at these! Thanks for the review man. Very informative.

      Glad you liked it! They really are some comfy headphones.

      Marcus L. M. They are very comfortable, maybe the most comfortable headphone ever. Sound is very full, and soundstage is huge. They lack in detail in the treble. The bass is great but may feel slightly booming at higher volumes. Overall a great headphone, especially for the price.

    70 bucks? That makes me feel so sad. In my country it is sold for an equivalent 269,00 USD.

    • @Taylordtech
      @Taylordtech  Před 7 lety

      Wow! That really sucks. Even with VAT that seems way over-priced.

      Get someone in the US to buy them and ship them to you, and pay him what the shipping costs plus a little tip. That should be around 100$.

    I really like the set that I have but I can’t say it so I’m wild about whatever material it is that they put on the earpiece it’s itchy but as far as the rest of it sound quality is great as I said, I like everything about it I do, however wish they would’ve made the cordin a little different matter but I can get by with it it’s far enough I can get it from my TV to my head so that’s all that really counts

    Did you record the audio with a potato?

    • @Taylordtech

      Yep, and the name of that potato is the Movo LV4 - czcams.com/video/1yU4CTrbFhY/video.html

    Should probably turn off auto-focus. Focus the shot beforehand.

  • @DENMONKEY
    @DENMONKEY Před 4 lety

    Lock off that focus bro. Tip, shoot extra b-roll and stick that over the top of the out of focus bits.

    How did you manage to get such a stunning sound using professional equipment?

  • @almcelroy4818
    @almcelroy4818 Před 2 lety

    Have had them for a short while. Classical music sounds mind blowing and music that plays well to the higher end of the sound spectrum will sound nice on these cans. But there is little bass. Rock sounds weak. Jazz is fine but I prefer my Jazz with more bass but Jazz sounds decent on these spacious sounding headphones.

    Nice video...too bad about the mic...try a Beyerdynamic MCE 85...fantastic sound. The best thing about these headphones is the price for what you get for a darn good open back headset.

    • @Taylordtech
      @Taylordtech  Před 7 lety

      I love the headset and find it to be the most comfortable that I have. I have upgraded my mic to a pair of Behringer C-2's, which are working quite well. Just havent had much time for making content in the last few weeks. My last video (the one about adding o-rings to a mechanical keyboard) used my new mic setup.

  • @Little_Bitz
    @Little_Bitz Před 6 lety

    Thanks for the video, pretty much what I needed to know. What about those superlux's you have there, what are your thoughts?

    • @Taylordtech
      @Taylordtech  Před 6 lety +1

      +It's just Me well, I made a video about that! czcams.com/video/E_v9tVhwWBo/video.html
      Between the two the ATs are lighter and easier to wear for long periods. The Superlux are a bit brighter and clearer sounding and more durable feeling, but the smaller ear cups and tighter clamping force make them half-day headphones for me.

  • @Zyntherion2202
    @Zyntherion2202 Před 5 lety

    Which one's better? the Superlux HD668b or these Audio-Technica ATH AD500x?

  • @rich00273119
    @rich00273119 Před 6 lety

    These are $88 right now, with case, on amazon. The 700x is $105. Whut would you do? Thanx!

    • @Taylordtech
      @Taylordtech  Před 6 lety

      +MRmoofoo2you when I did the video the difference was around $50. I'd jump on the 700x at that price.

  • @eeeFloww
    @eeeFloww Před 6 lety

    i got these and i cant tell the difference between my sades A6 closed back headset audio quality vs. these. i’m really upset (although the comfort is 90000000x better so that’s a plus, but the 500x cost me $80 while my sades cost me $26 so idk). is it my motherboard holding back my AD500x???

    • @Taylordtech
      @Taylordtech  Před 6 lety

      Motherboard audio is almost universally trash. Get something with a better DAC (preferably external)

    • @eeeFloww
      @eeeFloww Před 6 lety

      Taylord Tech do you have any DAC suggestions? i am using these for gaming and watching vids/shows/movies.

    • @Taylordtech
      @Taylordtech  Před 6 lety

      At the low end something like a Behringer UMC202HD or 204HD would work well. It's what I use and I like the audio quality. From there sky is the limit. A lot of people like the Schitt stack, I've not tried one though.

    Gave the video a like! I have had these exact headphones for just short of 2 years and I am upgrading now. (Ordered the very popular senheiser HD 598se)... I've just been looking around at different opinions and figured I would also take a look at what people are saying overall about these. That cable made me want to stab it btw... lol. My opinion is that these are good for exactly what they are... entry level solid headphones but definitely left me wanting more. In my opinion they actually aren't very comfortable though besides them being quite light. Specifically, the ear cuffs are kinda scratchy and hot. Wearing them for more than an hr or 2 is when I usually get discomfort in my experience and I am expecting the 598s to be WAY more comfortable.

    • @Taylordtech
      @Taylordtech  Před 7 lety

      Thanks for the like! I didnt have issues with the ear pads, but I have a beard so it probably kept the velvet off my face

  • @porajase
    @porajase Před 7 lety

    great review with loads of details thanks, how would you compare these to the HD668b that you previously reviewed? I am after a large clear stage and many reviews say the 668's lack a bit of bass and can be bright on the trebles would you think the 500x's are worth the premium?

    • @Taylordtech
      @Taylordtech  Před 7 lety

      +porajase if you want a large soundstage the 500x's are going to be much better than the 668s. Nothing beats fully open back headphones for soundstage
