- As I waited for ELS 501 coming south thru Iron Mountain, MI I noticed this kid playing on the train tracks. I'm not sure why he was trespassing, but if seen they will call police.. I waited across from the old train depot downtown for over an hour, just to catch this perfect shot...
I also filmed them in East Kingsford, and in Wisconsin too!

Nice to see this angle shot in Iron Mountain. You usually shoot from the other end of the street. Beautiful day there for a video.
That old fashioned signal is so cool
Like to see somebody change it and see if the crew notices, lol.
Another great video Jason love the closeups especially when cars barely make across before train comes through there are way to many idiots in a hurry
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, I like them, they're awesome, @jasonasselin, thank you very much.
So cool to see the train going past the old depot!
Southern Pacific and Union Pacific had continuously welded rail to a length of a quarter mile. It was called ribbon rail. Normal rail is 39 feet in length.
When the train rocks slowly, it looks like it is breathing.
Cool video J.Thanks Greg.
Thanks Jason for another awesome video. Have a great weekend.
Definitely a cool video coming out of that curve and headed south! Awesome catch of the train passing the depot in Iron Mountain!! Great video, Jason!!
It probably wouldn’t take much to revive/reanimate that old semaphore signal. Some new bulbs for the signal indications, two new motors for the semaphore vanes, and some automation, and presto! It’s be nice if someone could repaint the wood doors and window trim on the old station. Some benches for rail fans to sit and watch the trains go by. 😊
Stop! Railroad property, do not enter, do not pass go, don't sit near the station. You don't work here and you will not enjoy trains here!
The semaphores likely are train order signals, not block signals. If the blade positions are changed, the train will have to stop to await orders, which won't be forthcoming. If you re-light it, who pays for the electricity?
@@erie910 no one; a lead-acid storage battery (in an electrical shed) kept topped off with a solar panel (probably on the roof of the station, or mounted on the same pole as the semaphore signal.) Of course, someone would have to occasionally go up there to clean bird poop off, but hey, who’s counting? 😆 The railroads already use something similar for defect detectors.
Beautiful weather it is to film this beautiful locomotive
Great video of center beam cars and grain cars. Thanks Jason.
I've seen LP products in other video's. great video.
Thank you for a great Train Show!
Hi Jason We have the LP siding here in San Antonio in both Lowes and Home Depot. Several colors and is color thru out. Larry
So cool to see that semaphore in Iron Mt.
15 loaded center beam cars! Good revenue.
good train video
Haha, I wouldn`t trust walking on those rails! That`s a hard working 40.
I love the horn
The shot was even better whwn the locomotive blocked out the small truck; just enough depot and semaphores.
Very fine, Jason! Another gorgeous day in the northern midwest, eh!
Another great catch. I enjoy the way you change up the views of the trains at some of the common crossings like county O and N or in Iron Mountain. A nice Spring/summer shot at Daves Falls would be pretty cool when you get the chance. Thanks Jason!!
How nice it would be to have a commuter train service up there.
Why anyone would walk on uneven ballast when the road and sidewalk are only feet away doesn't make sense. The train would probably jump on the asphalt for a smoother ride L o L. A healthy batch of siding and hopefully they make a safe journey to Green Bay
Right? LOL
Jason, is there any way you can take a trip to the smart siding factory, and we can see it being made before the RR brings it your way?
Yes they come in different colors it's siding for a house
Would you ever think about coming down to central Wisconsin and chasing the CPKC? EVERYTHING comes through here lots of CNW PS4 covered hoppers
Most people are not aware walking along the railroad tracks is transpassing and can be danderous. Just last week another person was hit and killed on tracks near Oak Creek Wisconsin by Amtrak Hiawatha train. News said person was wearing headphones.
Old ELS building @ 6:54...
Who cares if he's walking on the tracks? I grew up by a railroad track. We played on them all the time.
Hi Jason. Another cool video, many thanks. Have you ever done any filming up at LP. Do they have a switcher to move cars when and ELS engine is not around? Cheers.
Jason, when did E&LS start delivering the siding on those cars? I just started watching your videos again a couple of weeks ago after being away watching other U-Tube channels for the last year.
I've noticed that E&LS has kept an SD40-2 up there by LP ever since the derailment south of there a while back. When the tracks were blocked, they lacked adequate power there for heavier loads and couldn't do anything about it.
I guess power is the wrong term. The 38's have the power, but lack in weight and traction.
13 different colors they sell it at menards
8:02 I’m getting some Penn Central vibes…
It think it is like what I have on my house. I believe it is like particle board that comes in different lengths and widths. I don't remember the color now as I had the house painted after replacing several boards that were tore up when I bought the house some years ago. It is kinda fragile though.
Is there any activity in the Iron Mtn depot ?
E&LS uses it for storage/MOW tools
when coming to railroad tracks in Michigan you must stop 15 feet before crossing tracks or up to 50 feet to crossing and come to complete stop at the tracks and look both ways before crossing and must be complete stop at approach here,. Jason looked up at michigan state law for crossing tracks !!!
Unless the crossing has a "Yield" sign, or has signal protection.
Hello how are you doing tonight good evening
Why don't you show us more of your hometown
Hey
24 cars and 501 engine
Great video! People are dumb as heck now a days.
Do trains go up the line that goes to Marquette
Not this line. Ends at Marquette Cty line. Storage only north of Channing.
Ahhhh, Iron Mountain....I now know where "Iron Man" came from!😉🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great shot of the train too.🙂
E&LS would have to pay for a gate up-grade. Yeah, sure. That's going to happen. NOT!
look in the mirror at 5:15 to see the train
I'm now playing all Ads, to help you afford to attract and keep the one hundred thousand subscribers, which will happen very soon. 🤞
I know a Mike Asselin, in Idaho. Any relation?
Hey Jason, I think one of these days you will video the train giving a car a little kiss I don’t think people even look for a train when crossing
E&LS should put up some no tress passing signs to strengthen their position legally.
This railroad really needs to fix it's track or else your almost 100,000 subs won't have y'all to watch anymore. Maybe the handwriting is already on the wall and this rail line will cease to exist soon.
Was that a hobo or a drugo
