  • The first shakedown of our Toyota 1JZ powered NASCAR is here! And we had no idea what to expect when we hit the track with this Frankenstein drift car that we are trying to build for cheap. It didn't exactly go as planned, but progress has been made and now it's time for the Drift Games Invitational!

    You're right on the white discs. They're where the lasers scanned for tech inspection. That's why I kept them and didn't paint over them. Loved seeing it move under it's own power finally! Well done

    Rear suspension is Called “truck arms”. They are based off of the 1960s (I think) gm c10 pickup and will promote a TON of traction. Also, The link in the back is called a “track bar” and it adjusts the position of the rear end in relation to the centerline of the car.

    spot dots are for laser inspection and the rear end void was due to the NGC having the boot wing and pushing the rear end down and that's what made the aerodynamics work.
    from the girder work on the rear end that car was set for oval.
    black wheel deff better than silver.
    not hard with a full tube chassis to work with, plenty oh UK stock cars, National Hotrod chassis would work for this tooo, and got gt shapes to play with!
    Glad to see your keeping on with what went on.

  • @recruted
    @recruted Před měsícem +3

    Hello drift games crew, most stock cars carry ballest weight to balance weight distribution and meet minimum weight rules, it is inside the frame rails in the center, left and right of the car probably capped off at the ends to keep from coming out in a crash... also raise and lower the pan hardt bar to add side bite, always try to keep it level at ride height to have equal grip left and right

    • @recruted
      @recruted Před měsícem

    That looks very similar to the floating back axle setup on a Twin-Cam. All you have to do is make sure it's centered with the Panard bar, the pinion angle isn't zero (you'll make shite of the U-Joint if it is) and the spring preload is correct for that particular car. It's about 10mm spring preload IIRC, for the Twin-Cam axle. After that all you're worrying about is spring rates and damper stiffness back there. Good luck and well wear with it :).

    Little history for Dave, the air travelling under the Nascar does get caught in the underside of the rear bumper. There was a Nascar race famed for its "Fastest Car" having lost the rear bumper during the race, causing less drag and a higher top speed

  • @Gtv6Racer

    That shock is designed to do that. On a circle track it lets the front splitter sit on the ground for downforce, but when it's stopped the car is at the legal ride height.

    On the white discs...Nascar started requiring that every team run basically the same chassis, so when we would build or repair a chassis or parts of it, we have to take it down to the Nascar tech center where they measure each part of the chassis to make sure it is in specification. Once it passes, it gets a RFID tag . Once at the track the Nascar officials can scan the tag and that tells them information on that car.
