PCT requires a PCT permit or many permits, while the AT requires 1 for SMNP, 1 for SNP, 1 for Katahdin.

I vlogged the AT in 2023. Hiking the PCT this year.

With Respect to an ice axe on the PCT. Pay attention to the snow year and reports. Depending on your start date no axe needed on low snow years.

Very true! The snowpack definitely varies depending on the year, start date, etc.

So true! It was more for psychological support as us East Coaster's never did a pass before!

You thru-hiked the AT in 2020 even after being told to get off? Cool. The ATC doesn't recognize your hike and neither do I.
