- Llangollen Railway, is back running trains again!!
After part of the business running the railway went into administration earlier this year, the railway ran its first train again on Friday 9th July.
Now run by the Llangollen Railway Trust, and after a lot of hard work, the first train, DMU, class 108 ran from Llangollen to Berwyn ( 2 of the most picturesque stations in the country).
Great to be back for a ride on the hourly service, on Saturday, the day after opening.
Seen are a few clips of , and from, the Derby light weight DMU, between the 2 stations. To add to the video, more excitement and fun to be seen on the river!!
Also seen are clips of the 16th century bridge over the River Dee covered in a giant patchwork to mark the return of the Eisteddfod music festival, and finally a few shots of the nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which carries the Llangollen canal high above the River Dee,.
A massive Congratulations to all involved in getting the railway operatioal again !!

Great to see this. After all the problems Llangollen have been through, it's wonderful to see them finding their feet again.
Certainly is Callum. Hopefully all the hard work and dedication will pull them through.
Great to see that heritage line giving a green light to resume operation again
Definitely Scott.
@@philclarke3203 yeah Phil
Fantastic sequences. Clear shots, immersive editing and sound! Thank you for bringing those memories, vicariously, to those who haven’t seen such places! P
Many thanks Peter, my pleasure 😃👍
Top viewing. What a place to visit!
Thanks, a lovely place 😃
Great to see the railway running again. Such a beautiful area 👍🏻
Been up the Horseshoe Pass to the Ponderosa quite a bit lately. Great cup of Tea up there.
😁👍
Lovely area. I'll have to try the Ponderosa😃
Good to see your back in business and here's hoping you have a good season, we stayed in the Station Masters House at Berwyn last year such a picturesque spot had a great time despite Covid trying to spoil things.
Beautiful just beautiful what else ❤️ can I say. Well done everyone 👍👍🙂.
100% agree Roger 👍😀
Excellent video Phil showing some of my favourite places. We are in mid Wales this week so may call at Llangollen on the way home. I have walked over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct many times but it still scares me to death. Berwyn is a lovely place and the Horsehoe Falls a feat of engineering.
Many thanks Philip. Hope you are having a good time, weather great here. Yes some lovely spots around llangollen and Berywn, and some fascinating engineering. I know what you mean about the aqueduct, very scary, but I always imagine what it was like for those building it? 😬
Absolutely brilliant thank you
Thanks, my pleasure 😀
Spot on Phil, some great scenery around the river Dee and some boating action too!👍
Thanks David. My favorite railway for the scenery. 😀👍
Great to see that they are surviving, and the fun of the rafting was an added bonus
Thanks Carol, yes great to see them running again.
Good that you were there, Phil. I'm an armchair member, though I used to be a fireman.
Good to there again Alan. It sounds like you have earned that privilege now!
A beautiful line. It is a long time since rode on the train there as I now live some distance away.
After all the effort was put into extending the line, it was tragic that it fell into administration, but hopefully things will improve and you will prosper again.
Yes hopefully, and as you say a beautiful line. 👍
an outstanding video Phil. Great memories for me as I've been many time to Gala's. Leaving home at 4am to do the 120 miles journey, staying at the Bryn Derwin Hotel overnite, Travelling on the Saturday night dining train, walking the track all day. Walking on and under the Ponty' aqueduct. I always wondered how they managed to keep it going co's we thought it was not too well supported.I am so pleased to see it operating again. Your presentation is great and featured things that I had never seen. The bridge looked fantastic, very medieval and the punting made me laugh really loud and it's 3 am. Slept for 3 hours now wide awake with tea and biscuits. The Heron did'nt catch a fish for you did it but you managed to captured the little bird doing a poop. lol. Great stuff . Loved it. thank you
Many thanks Keith. You must have some great memories there, and had long days! It's got to be my favourite railway for the scenery, so I'm so pleased they seem to be getting over their troubles with a lot of hard work. Yes the bridge does look great, odd, but interesting for a few days and alot of work gone in to it? Haha the punting was a lucky added bonus. As for the heron, I took many more shots, but he was having no luck with the fish! Glad you enjoyed it and hope you caught with your sleep 😀
That's good to see and it's nice to see shiny rails again. I never thought that I'd be so pleased to see a diesel train!
Yes brilliant to see them open again! Haha, yes I agree and just a DMU!. But the views are just as spectacular.
Good fun all round Phil, great watch, fantastic to see it open again, well done to all involved, cheers .
Thanks Stephen. Yes great to be back and see them running again, must have been a very worry time for them. Hopefully this video will help to give them a bit of publicity too.
Thanks for the excellent footage phil! Great to see the line is open again.
Thanks John. My pleasure. It certainly is. 👍
Lovely, and its near to where i live in Shropshire.
Thanks Gwyn
excellent shots👍 nice to see the heritage railway up and running it's fun seeing the water rafting especially when they got it stuck and trying to get it moving and wondering if they are going to fall in the water
Thanks Barry. Certainly is!! Yes great to watch the rafting, and hoping they wouldn't.....or maybe would, haha, end up in the water?
This is great news Phil it was sad to here that it was going to close down last year.
I had a great time at the last Diesel gala some years back.
Definitely great news , after all the years of hard work, they now need all the support they can get?
Super video Phil :)
Thanks Simon
Hi Phil yet again a good video thank you
Hi Jamie. Thanks. 😃👍
Amazing footage
Thanks Anthony 👍
Cracking video. Been on the Llangollen a good few times until Covid. Bet you had fun making this!
Many thanks,. Haha yes, although it would have better if someone had ended up in the wafer.? 😬
Excellent news!
Indeed it is. 😃👍
Excellent shot of the heron.
Thanks Andrei. 😃
Nice little video Phil good to see it running again all be it only to Berwyn. You would not think a boat would fit on the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct but they do ,it's strange when to cross it on a boat and look down from the other side.
Thanks Rick. Yes, great they are running again, hopefully further and steam soon.. Must be scary on a boat and looking over the edge!
Let's hope so.No rather excited Sue was scared though.
A lot of gauging squeal for small bogies? Good to see the Heritage lines up and running again.
Still stiff after being out of use for so long 😂. Definitely great to see 👍
Forget to say great footage Phil.
Thanks Mike 😃
Nice one Phil. Glad you got over there.
Probably only just missed you.
I was on the Black bike at Llangollen. Lol
Hope you had a good day.
😎👍🐢
Thanks Ian. It would have been good to say hello 👋. Yes a great day out, will be there again soon.
lovely place
Certainly is. 😀
What happened to the steam engine?
At this time they were only running to Berywn. So it was impossible for the steam loco to run around the train for the trip back to Llangollen
5:20 the bloke in the stern needs to lose a bit of weight! 😏
Haha, it didn't help. 😃
