Owls don't always hoot; they have a whole language of trills, squeaks and whistles. Rickie in particular has a common contact call that sounds completely unlike what you'd expect from an owl.
The raptor depicted in this video is a non-releasable educational ambassador. It is not a pet and serves a valuable role in our education and outreach programming. All staff are trained in bird handling and care to ensure their health and safety.
