    Sir, does fungus grow only inside the sinus ? Why not just start with basic non invasive investigation before going for expensive mri???

    • @mtraveller3392
      @mtraveller3392 Před 2 lety +3

      Because the criteria to diagnose the patient with Mucor is to show the tissue invasion rather than presence of colony on the mucosal surface. Also in such life and death scenario, we need to do the best possible investigation/intervention to be totally sure of our diagnosis, because someone's life will depend on our decisions.

    • @humorme2432
      @humorme2432 Před 2 lety

      as MRI will instantly show the invasion and its extent.. Culture result needs 2-3 days to come.. no point.

      Doc swab does not show fungus

    • @mamamssa1409
      @mamamssa1409 Před rokem

      ENT Marrow tells us the answer should be nasal swab. Because mri will show us the extent of damage and all but doesn't confirm it is mucor. It could be something else too.. so nasal swab should be done first to confirm it's mucor, then mri to know the extent
