They make them all the time - they just usually go straight to streaming with barely any marketing now. It's nice to see real movies coming to theaters again instead of just big blockbusters, remakes or endless franchise sequels.

Interesting that Tarantino was working on a script called The Critic which has since been scrapped. I wonder if knowledge of a film with the same name/concept had something to do with it never seeing the light of day.
