- Gem autos were gracious enough to lend me this 2013 bmw 528i. In the land of bmw the inline 6 3L engine is a legend. It is hard to replace it, but is the 2.0l turbo on par or better than the powerhouse?
Hakman tests out the 528i to see if it really is or was a step in the right direction for bmw, and it's consumers.

this was my first car, got it when I was 16 and now im 20. never had a problem with it and it’s treated me well, highly recommend it honestly

I own a 2013 528i RWD and it is my first car, i got it at around 70k miles n now it has 126k miles after 3 years of hard driving, honeslty love the car id highly recommend it, do ur research on the motor before purchasing one and def get a pre purchase inspection, timing chains are a big factor when buying these cars, but out of all the n20 motors ive seen in all my friends cars, havent seen em fail. Dumb things will go bad over time like the parking brake actuator, or the comfort access, but its never been a super expensive repair... id highly recommend it to people as a good daily. Drives so smooth n saves so much gas

hey! i just bought one that has 100k miles, the car is clean and everything is good, the only two things i noticed is when i rev it the engine sounds tired. Second, i have thing that shows on screen for drive trial malfunction? what should i do?
@@TareqShaheen-l2d engine sounds tried & u have a drive train, usually drive train means something is off, it can be something very simple or something complex, do you have a scanner? If so run it on the car and see what comes up, if not , id recommend getting it checked, most diagnostics should be 100-150, these cars aren’t super hard to figure out , I recommend coming back when they say what the issue is , or if u find out what the scanner says, scanner is a cheap route but it might not show ur exact issue
@@burnin_motors i am going to the mechanic soon for a check up, thank you for responding i really appreciate. Is there anything that you would recommend me checking? also noticed that steering wheel is a little hard to run but i know that's how most bmws are?
@@TareqShaheen-l2d while your at it, have him check your timing chain, it needs to be tight tight to confirm reliability, also any oil leaks such as valve cover!

Outta all the competition of that year interior it looks the best by far 🤷🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️ everyone else was stuck in the 90's interior wise
The interior debate has always been more of a personal preference when it came down to Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. They all have their pros and cons, but if you like one you might not like the other.

In some ways it is better, and in some ways it's not. All depends on your preference what you like

For sure 3.0 inline 6 cylyndir is much more beter smooth and comfortable than 2.0 turbo
Agreed. The linear power the 3.0 inline 6 pumped out in the low revs all the way to redline was much more enjoyable. These engines will surely be missed since most manufacturers have moved to 4 cyl turbos

I see the cup holder next to the shift. is the stick in the way to grab it? and most importantly what's in the tim's cup?

I will answer your most important question first. It is liquid fuel aka coffee for my reviews from #timhortons
The shifter doesn't really intervene when you go to grab the cup. Usually cup holders are the first thing i like to hate on when i sit in the car lol

If it has been maintened properly by the previous owners, I don't see why it would cause any issues for you. Where are you located
Don't fool yourself, the in-line 4 is just not satisfying for a big heavy car as the 5-series. The 5 series need the 6 cylinder in-line, the engine the car was designed for
Agree with your sentiment for 6 cylinder for the bmw 5 series. Personally, I'm a big fan of the inline 6, but the push towards smaller engines and EV has left us with limited options.

The F10 528i 2.0T (N20) engine is more power dense than the 535i 3.0T (N55). But the N55 has more tuning potential than the N20. Personally I'd take the 528i with the 3.0 NA over the N20 2.0T
Agree with you on getting the 3.0 NA over 2.0T. It will always be an engine that is talked about

Personally the only good thing that came from the E60 5 Series was the M5 with the V10. Again the E60 was the brainchild of Chris Bangle needless to say the E65 7 Series which was a monumental design flop for BMW at the time.
Loved the V10 M5. It was such an incredible machine!!
I prefer the 6 cylinder car e39 and the e34 535i
