Very underrated car in my opinion, I’ve got the 2L sport which has a little more power, still not what you would class as fast but once you have momentum the handling makes up for the lack of torque, the bilstein suspension on the sport is very good and the trim level is better than the 1.8. It’s a very reliable car and on a nice day with the roof down it never fails to put a smile on my face 👍

Great car, thanks for sharing, many smiles per miles. Here in Rochester,New York USA I bought a 2007 prht 6 speed mk3 and absolutely love it. Plenty of balls in a 2.0 and more room than a na nb or nd. Life is now more enjoyable.

Great review Chris. For info oil pressure guage on dash is a gimmick as it is a simulated reading. I have owned a 2.0 MX5NC2 Miyako for 7 years and I love it. Recognise some of your route taken as I also live in Fife. Best thing for these Cars is keep the bodywork well protected underneath and avoid winter use. Cheers😂

Well you can tell from my thumbnail picture that I'm biased - NA all the way. But any MX5 is great fun to drive - my only tip would be 4 matching tyres. They don't have to be bonkers expensive - I run Toyo Proxes - £60 a corner which really work well. Enjoy

I have an 07 2.0 Sport, stock apart from a set of Meister R CRD coilovers which transform the car.

We've had 3 Mk 1 MX5s... our current one is now up for sale... Why?... Bought my wife a mk III cabriolet 2007 at an excellent price and super low mileage... Is a 2 litre automatic or powershift... in red... copper red I was told was the colour... only one tiny and I mean tiny little blister on the leading edge of the bonnet/hood. Excellent condition

I've got a 2007 2.0 litre variant. Are you going to join the owners club? Central Scotland branch is pretty active these days.

Your temperature gauge was looking very low - looks like you need a new thermostat.

The MK3 wasn't exactly 'the best' MX5 nevermind best budget 2 seater convertible. The MGF or MGTF are better value , better supported and in the MGF are a more rounded car. Yes there was HGF issues but by now most would have been sorted by enthusiasts. Both have their plus and negative points and it's literally horses for courses.
