Hello everyone, this video looks like it was made by Robocop. The panning is very robotic because I filmed using the app Filmic Pro. I did that because I wanted to improve the quality of my videos... But the result is ... well you can see the result. Lol 😀I am not going to use that app again! I apologise for the not so good experience.
I did Soho Road again because some people wished that in my previous Soho video I showed more of the shops, that I started from the Sikh Temple, etc. Voilà! - Zábava
Your doing a great job 50 years from now people will be fascinated on what your are recording here.
Thank you Mark 😊
"Fascinated" is not the suitable word.
Really appreciate your time and effort to post this video xx it's a timeless piece in years to come, I have lived here 7 years since getting married and came here often in my teen years too. Most my wedding shopping was done here too! Wonderful to see all the lovely shops and community 💜💜💜
Would be nice to see some the shop names included xx
Great video which captures Soho Road as it has always been. I used to shop there with my mom in the 70s and remember that there used to be a Woolworths and Kwik Save near to where Iceland is now. We used to catch the 70 bus from Grove Lane / Antrobus Road and also walked down Nineveh Rd hundreds of times to go to St Stephens primary school. Thanks for uploading and great camera work!
Thank you Andy for watching the video and for taking me down Memory Lane with you 🙂
@@citiesthroughmyeyes I'm having another watch a year on!!
I'm loving watching these walks. It's bringing back so many memories. I left Brum 30 years ago. I spent a lot of time in school holidays with my Grandparents in Trafalgar Road so spent many happy times down the Soho Road and days out on the number 11 buzz.
Hello, thank you for watching my videos. I really appreciate that 🙂
absolutely brilliant video love it so relaxing to watch 🌹🌹
Thank you very much H Khan 🙂
It's good to see Soho Rd booming. I hope it's still is in 2024.❤ Great video, thank you.

Thank you for watching 🙂
Handsworth library just the same lol, used to spend hours in the library there when passing through, Central Birmingham library is another favourite of mine would often stay there all day just reading books.
Soho Rd hasn't changed at all. When I did the video Handsworth Past & Present, Soho Rd was a piece of cake because almost everything has remained the same.
@@citiesthroughmyeyes No it hasn't really changed much but lots of Asian shops with clothes in the window dressing now that's different. I noted that the betting shop next to NatWest bank has gone I collected a few big winnings there s few times Lol
I used to like the old Central Library before it was demolished. I also did a YTS course at Handsworth College in 1985, was paid a whole £26 per week!
I love Brimingham and enjoy visiting my family when I can.
That's a nice gesture. Stay safe 🙂
Is this supposed to be England?
Know Handsworth really well. Familiar buildings etc. I was born and brought up in Park St, Aston, just off the Litchfield Road. Only building I know there is The Vine pub on the corner. That is in a very bad way, very sad to see. Aston Park looks nearly the same. Thank you for sharing these lovely videos. I have lived in Australia for 40yrs. Went back to Birmingham 10yrs ago..
Thank you for you comment. Australia must have been a great experience. Do you went back to live in Aston or you now live somewhere else in Bham?
@@citiesthroughmyeyes just went back to the UK for a holiday. I live in Australia..

Whenever I go through handsworth I like to stop at the Asian sweet shops...theyre brilliant..
I've never seen them anywhere else in England..they could go nationwide and be a big success.
I've never tried Asian sweets. Next time I go to Soho, I'll have a go 🙂
@@citiesthroughmyeyes there's two I know...as you travel from new street and go through hockley,go past the big mosque on the right then immediately start looking on the left....park your car outside and nip in they're beautifully managed shops with incredibly well crafted Asian sweets..be careful if you have an addictive personality...you are spoiled for choice...ill have one of those, and that one ,and that.if you're going buy for a party not a pig out...and you will not regret it..
@@citiesthroughmyeyes I have tried the sweets but they're too sweet for me. Lol

Hi Joseline! Still no Olton (Solihull), Shirley (Solihull), Solihull, Hall Green, Sheldon, Bournville or Sutton Coldfield but so many times Handsworth or Moseley (I am aware you live there) already 😉. You obviously don't like these other places hehehe 😉
This week, I quit my day job (ou travail alimentaire) to have more time for my personal projects & to make CZcams videos - I am not even joking. So in the coming weeks you will see a lot of new videos 😉
@@citiesthroughmyeyes Hi Joseline! If you thought about this step properly and if you think you don't rush into something then I wish you all the best with that. Haha don't feel forced to make more videos, I was just teasing you in regards to the other areas 😉. Birmingham unfortunately has a lot of neglected areas but has also a lot of nice areas as well and quite a few hidden gems. I always compare Birmingham a bit with cities like Paris or especially Marseille. They are all very diverse cities with a lot of vibe and with nice parts but also with the same problems... Good video but next time get a clear shot of the road names that you cross so its easy to follow your walk on a street map. Lived there 1975-83, nostalgic but changed alot
Hello, thanks for your comment, I’ll do that next time🙂
hi to the colders , mardners . carters, and the browns in handsworth
The pub on the corner of Ivy Road used to be called the Beehive , the artitecture is beautiful, I stand to be corrected but I think it may have been run by a West Indian gentleman in the 60,s and 70,s .
The beehive used to be further down the road. That pub on Ivy Road used to be the Gateway to India.
@@MrKajjaGG Thanks for information, your right to mention Gateway to India but that was from late 1980,s , Iam talking about from 1955 when my Uncle arrived in Handsworth , he used to live on Whitehall Road ( house still believe it or not my cousin resides there 66 years latter )
I checked with family they very sure it was the Beehive , the pub you are referring to was The Freighted Horse ,again that was managed by a West Indian family ,untill about 7 years ago it was converted to a clothes shop .
It's amazing to think how many pubs were on Soho rd .
@@akumar7366 Nope, the Frighted Horse is on the corner of Stafford road which is even further down. Where the JK's is in the video. The GTI is now Lime n' Chilli, which you see in the video towards the beginning. The Beehive shut down in the 90's which is further up the road...Unless GTI used to be known as The Beehive before i was born.

I remember seeing a white bloke there once.
Thank you for showing this area as it is now, I remember it as a high class shopping area in the 1950's.
Thank you for watching my videos ronholfly 🙂
The history of Handsworth is a history worth reading. Handsworth was known as a class area and when you look at Handsworth Wood you will understand why. There's a tremendous amount of history there and some very important people were born there.
What you're really saying is that non white folk have come along and ruined it. The race baiting moron that filmed this video is covertly spreading hate to feed your hatred towards non whites
@tonedaflex, you are such a victim! And you keep insulting me. I can see that your mother did a great job raising you. Thanks for watching my videos and writing comments as they help spreading my videos across 😉 I do hope you keep commenting under my videos as it says to the CZcams Algorithm "Tonedaflex really enjoy these videos" PS: You posted 2 other comments and I am going to answer them so please be patient.
@@citiesthroughmyeyes Jo don't go there, there's nothing wrong with showing change I don't see anything that you've done by filming different districts of Birmingham, it's time people learned to accept that everybody has a right to be there and it has nothing to do with nationality or ethnicity or race. Keep doing what you're good at doing and ignore the people who don't understand anything and start putting race into everything, I wish people would just lighten up I am tired of it.

It literally felt like I was in Africa honestly...last time i was there I felt it was too much impulses ...some random drunkyard cussing you out for not sayin hi to them...it was just too much. if u have anxiety i feel like UK might not be the place
Birmingham has a lot of racism and segregation and segregated areas you have loads of white segregated areas in Birmingham and west midlands were people are racist hostile and unfriendly . The council for decades are the causes of segregation especially in Birmingham.
Never been to England but it's not what I had in my mind of how it would be.
its no longer an english country
I like these area's, a melting pot. If you want quintessential English culture you need to go to the countryside, villages and the Cotswolds area of outstanding natural beauty. It's a different world! Loving these video's xx
@@ishabrown Why do you think that is? Do you think it's for work reasons or extended family or maybe it's older people who live in the countryside. Has England got areas where it's mostly white and other places where it's mostly non white. We don't have that here we all live mixed together. Although we don't have a lot of black or Asian population here but we have a big polish workforce here. Best wishes from Northern Ireland.
@@kerryquinn7188 it's mainly work reasons. Also a lot of elderly people live in the countryside. Inner city areas are mostly non white and suburban areas are more mixed and mostly white. Towns and villages tend to be more white

Is this Birmingham, England? Are you sure?
@sara sade Oh man... Can we not just read a comment with you commenting it with your rant? Can we turn you off? Really annoying...
@sara sade Thankfully there are people in Birmingham who don't hate Muslims like you (like my neighbours for example) and there are a lot of Muslims and other minorities who try to contribute to the society here and try to change it to the better (like me or others in the area). There are enough areas where you can see that peaceful living together like in Yardley, Sheldon, Moseley, Hall Green, Kings Heath, Stechford, Edgbaston, Handsworth Wood, Erdington, Olton Solihull, Wells Green Solihull, Shirley, Perry Barr. So really sorry to disappoint you.
So as you are obviously someone embittered, consumed by your hatred against Muslims and probably frustrated about your own failure in life and as you probably are retired or have no job... I am thankful that there are too many people here who are not like you.
People contributing, interested I a peaceful living together, helping each other and being open-minded.
Maybe go on an Island where you lonely can rant until a coconut falls on your head...
I dont think its fare to put my close friend at the beginning of the video...gang gang means family and we all in the same struggle but signs is just banter ...... people who walk around with cameras should ask people's permission before using them without knowing...he is a stand up person for the community please understand handsworth is a multi cultural diversity area with alot of poverty but we keep our smile n head up #justsayingtothecameraperson
Michailla Mcalinden, your friend came towards the camera not the other way around. I actually avoided to put the camera on him & his friend standing on the corner. He came towards me, I turned around and he started speaking to the camera. So clearly he wanted to be in the video.
Then you speak about "gang gang, struggle & poverty". I don't know what it is all about but thank you for watching the video 🙂
I was born n bred in Handsworth I loved it...woolworths, liptons, cinema, Handsworth market, black clubs...and a good mixture of people etc etc...now...well see for yourself 🤦🏾♀️

People's businesses are getting robbed daily by the beggars and the homeless and the police are doing nothing to deter them, just ask around at places like farmfood and lidl. People being threatened at their place of work with violence, sad but true.
Also home to one of the if not most respected and well known gangs in the Midlands...the burger bar boys!!! B21 ... this is where it all started from!

Why are our Celtic islands ruined. I am so sad .
William Wallace had his head cut off when he lead the Celts against nthe British back in the old days before Scotland became a part of the United Kingdom in the 17th century. I find the Scottish/English rivalry interesting and the English/ Irish jokes French/English etc , as it's similar to the jokes between the Finns and Swedes, American and Canadian, Small and Large Islanders of the Caribbean and so on.
