I love this! I’ve been a caterer for 13 years and love to see all aspects of cooking professionally.
Working on a yacht in the galley always seems like the most stressful job to me. I was a deckhand and our onboard chef was not only in charge of cooking for the crew and guests, but also provisioning and meal planning and budgeting. The owners we had for one yacht had a friend that raised black angus and Hertford beef so we had tons of beef on board too, but the problem is they wanted all the good cuts and wanted the chef to use the ground chuck on us, of which there was a lot of. We prayed for chicken and pork, plus some of us would go free diving and spear fish for the crew just to avoid having ground chuck in tacos or burgers again. We went to an island that had free roaming chickens, let's just say that when we left, they had a few less. Chefs can make or break a yacht or a crew
I'm sorry to hear that. What those owners don't realize, is that crews talk. When they have difficulty getting anyone to work for them, they be completely clueless as to why. We treat our crew like the hardest working members of our family. They keep us safe and allow us to enjoy ourselves without worry. And they've been loyal to us all along. Some people just don't understand that a little dignity and respect, pays big dividends. Besides, I can't imagine having different people on-board all the time. It would be like staying at a random, but familiar hotel, instead of home away from home. I know the time will come when our beloved crew moves on to other things in their lives, but for the past 5 years, they are a comfortable institution that we are honored to know and love.
I only found you this morning and I'm fascinated by your life! Enjoy the trip, I can't wait to see your adventures. Thanks for sharing 😊
I'm so glad you're back in the yacht! Missed your cooking videos.
I call my son who’s going to culinary school “little Chef” we love watching you!!
I’m addicted to provisioning videos… I guess it’s from my time as a yacht chandler lol
I see you are a regular "Costco" shopper! The instacart shoppers must love filling your orders!
My only suggestion is the (I believe) Norwegian salmon in the blue package is received at Costco already frozen. If you're buying it in quantity you may want to reach out to Costco and see if you can get it before they thaw it out as they normally do. It would probably taste even better if it hasn't been thawed then refrozen in your deep freeze!
Thank you! I love you saying little chef so much! It makes me feel like I'm along with you on the journey!
Hi Abby, would be so great to have these videos organized as a play list so I can easily binge the entire season 😂
You must be good at Tetrus !!!!
Love your content… so fun to tag along
It must be very hard work defrosting all the freezers, even cleaning all the fridges. Good video 😊
Do you need to write down where you put what in those endless cabinets? I would lose track of things so quickly haha
seems like such a cool job! love these vids
WOW! Safe travels!
I love seeing things like this to apply some organization ideas to my life too
Recently discovered Abby's channel and I really enjoy all of the different types of content. Has she ever mentioned her knife recommendations?
Yay! You're back! Your videos are fantastic.
You are one super organised chef 😊😊😊😊😊
Love the longer form content like this
just found you yesterday! amazing and love the cooking! i subscribed yet i can't find the recipes!!! can you tell me where they are located? specifically the red curry:)
I wish I could be as organized as you.
Hey this is cool stuff. Your yacht videos brought me here and although I do like your other content, this stuff really is my wheelhouse. Keep it up🎉
I like your "Can it Creamy" videos, too.
WOW
My parents used to buy half a cattle or such like that
Very impressive
Are the cupboards and freezers empty at the end of 2 months?
Hey Abby, I have a question....as a chef do you find yourself critiquing the food when you go out to say a restaurant? Love your videos! I love that you named the cow even though you are going to eat it lmao. Love followng your journey!
Never! If I don’t have to cook it, I am happy! ☺️ I criticize my own food, but never anyone else’s.
Do you ever cook fresh seafood that you catch on the boat?
What was your cut list for brownie? I assume not a lot of pot roasts? Ground beef?
The owners did the cut list, so I will have to see what I have to work with!
Wait - the SMALL order is beer, wine, and spirits? 😅
Im really curious how much water a boat that size holds 😮
Most Yachts have Watermakers on board that create fresh water from salt water
Wonder how much you guys save buying in bulk. Was Brownie grass fed? Curious.
I don’t buy meats in bulk, because it takes too much time to breakdown and too much time to thaw. I did buy in bulk on my first trip and that was a pain. It is worth the extra cost to have it in smaller portions already.
10,000 Million Dollars. That’s expensive.
damn. ten thousand million dollars is a lot
Forget the fancy yacht… I’m still wrapping my head around being rich enough to drop $9,000 on beef
Wait until you see the gas bill. Or marina fees. lol
@@shelleythompson-brock6412 oof. Well hey, at least the mangoes from their yard were free! 😂
@@ellenscully LOL. Yep. I bet they're good, too.
Abby, you better had told Captain Mark and crew you were going in the hole. I worry about you whenever you go! 🛥️
