week 12 cvp. compeltely 'stuck' in the middle of a bunch of boards, and first series! Thanks louise! 'cannot succeed, learn, without making a mess". amen!
"You cannot succeed, you cannot learn, you cannot grow without making a mess." Louise
You got it!!
Losing my fear of making a mess is one of the most important things I’ve learned from you, Louise. And right up there with it is learning not to judge a painting while it’s still in its messy stages. Just keep going. Thanks so much! ❤️
I am so glad that I have inspired you in that way Heather! Thanks for the kind words. ❤️
@@ThisPaintingLife ❤️❤️
I am currently refitting my work space to be more making a mess friendly. Thanks.
You’re such a generous spirit! 🥰🎨
Aww thank you Tracy!

Great inspiration and a reminder not to get scared …it’s the thief of creativity🎨

Thank you! I needed this guidance. Plus watching you paint is so enjoyable!
Glad it was helpful and thank you for your kind words!
I love watching your process of creating layers, especially when you lift off/thin fresh layers with the blue roll. I'm curious as to the fluidity, thickness/thinness of your paint when you do this. It is gorgeous
You're always such a joy to watch and listen to. Thank-you.
Honestly it varies but I do tend to use quite a bit of water x
Wonderful advise re solving problems wait for it to come explore also love the work
thanks:)
Really great to watch you create, Louise. Thank you!

Sound advice all around!
Sometimes it just takes a different perspective.
What is your palette? It’s peaceful and exciting at the same time.
As far as I can remember it was black, white, cad yellow, cerulean blue, magenta and a little Naples yellow
hi im so heppy to learn from you . please show the paints that you use .thank you.
Love watching you work love that green. Is it a tube colour or did you mix it? X
I mix all my colours - I can't remember for sure what that was, but a mix of cad yellow, cerulean blue, black and white
Hi Louise: was that a sanding block you went at your painting with? I love how you achieve your soft edges, and watching you has given me some good ideas. Love the towel roll trick too. I so appreciate these type of videos, thank you.
No sanding blocks were involved!
Great advice and demo. Where can you buy stencils. Quick question - what is the lovely music being played through your demo?
The music is free music from Canva - I buy my stencils from eBay, Amazon and Etsy x
Louise, you mentioned getting paper from eBay for your collaging. May I ask, how do you search for it? I just came up with crapola! I am a new subscriber and am so thrilled to have found you!

I look for vintage paper ephemera x
My problem is, I’m trying to do something, I’m not entirely sure what it is. I skiddle away making all these marks. I’m loving it, then I think it’s not good enough and go self sabotage myself! Looking back I think oh God I actually had a good painting, what’s wrong with me.
Maybe try working on multiple pieces at once so you can stop when you think something might be promising. Maybe also slowing down a little? But I do think sometimes that the reason we don't stop is that we know it's not yet done, even if it looks OK at some stages. We want more than OK!
So many times I have done this (and still do, sometimes!) This is what I have learned: when you are feeling like you love it, but there's "just a few" adjustments to make, stop, do something else. But leave your painting vertical somewhere (away from clutter) so you will see it as soon as you come into the room. "Surprise" yourself with it a couple hours later, or the next day. If those adjustments still scream at you in the same way, go on painting. But you will often find that the adjustments you need to make are different than you first thought, or maybe not even needed at all! I heard or read somewhere(?) that if you are 87% happy with the painting, you should consider it a success, call it done, and sign your name to it. That one struck home for me, and it works!
@@ThisPaintingLife I have a weird question for you, Louise. Pertaining to the OP as well, maybe. I take a good photo of the piece at the "loving it" stage. Then sometimes I go on and ruin what was a perfectly good painting (or at least 77% level). Can I sell prints of a painting that did exist at one time, but is different now because of adjustments? I hope you know what I mean.
@@yopestevens1505 you know I do the same thing and post the incremental stages as an image on Instagram, then paint over that, next thing I know someone wants that image but it's gone, I developed it I to something else!
