Dude Serral games are crazy. How is it that he can spend the first ten minutes of every game focusing purely on defense, and yet still make it look like he has his opponents dancing on puppet strings the entire time? What an absolute terror that man is.

Just went back and watched the Serral vs Ragnarok series…..
1) The last game played was a 59 vs 37 worker lead for Serral.
2) The 12-pool defense in game 4 still gives me chills.

1) aggressive scouting throughout entire game
2) conservation of units
3) plenty of supporting actions around his attacks (creep highways, infestation of critical enemy production, distractions)
4) coordination of strikes from multiple directions during defence
Serral feels like the only pro who is consistently doing this.

Last game is just, hey Shin, this is how its done. Oh and that wall off, it was amazing, all banes got funneled in and taken out by roaches, so crisp.
Problem with non tvt mirrors is you need to be able to read the game including the mind games well for it to be interesting, its hard enough in a replay and really difficult live.

I really love how Serral operates with protoss stasis. Most zerg pro players see oracle making stasis trap and trying to minimize the damage by sending a single worker into it. But Serral be like 'get over here!' and just kill it by queens.
I think the funniest thing is, Joona looks like the most kindest and harmless person I've ever seen, and being such a Mörkö Monster in Starcraft II. I know I'm heavily biased for being a finn, but there are some heavy boots to fill in trying to be the next GOAT 😃

For the record Lowko, I enjoy watching Mirror Matchups... in moderation. I'll happily watch 1 or 2 different Mirror Matchups a week. It's if it's more than that that things get a bit stale.
I love seeing Serral playing. It makes me feel line is so essy, then I lose in unranked gane to the most dumb cheese because I forgot 1 thing, just 1. Scouting, building the unit I knew needed, I forgot droning. 😂😂😂😂

No shade, but, anyone else noticed Lowko's camera work has become more reliant on zoomed out overview in recent years. Idk, maybe it's 'cause I watch 'em on a TV in the living room now compared to a monitor at a pc desk when I first started watching forever ago. I find Winter's camera movements has become the most visually pleasing in more recent times. They're still both S tier casters imho.

40:25: I dont think that it was that obvious for Shin in the first fight. He had +1 attack for his roaches, Serrals only finished in midfight, so he saw a decent chance to win it, but he knew that he was on a timer, so he commited hard (also to get the 2 ravager kills). I think it was a good effort, that didnt work out. In the second fight i think Shin felt he was behind and needed to make something happen.
I love mirror matches! ... or well ok love is maybe a big word but variety is the spicy of life and having the occasional banger mirror match mixed in is great imo.
He just defended first game, second game he was like oh you are doing the same thing again, still defended it and at the third he was like ok buddy this is how its done 😂

I personally don't mind the mirror matches. What's less interesting is a BO5 which only lasts for 3 games because Serral just played 3 normal games. I mean no disrespect for him, he is the GOAT, which he even demonstrated this time in game 3 by showing Shin how what he was trying to do is supposed to work. However, I was rooting against him in both series (although I would never put money against him) because both his opponents here are just more fun to watch. Hero especially comes up with fun plays.
Lowko i got a question about putting gateways on the over side of the map if you have warp gate done isn't it the same to put it in you main base?
they're more easily attackable, why do that and not simply bring a warp prism ?
The nylon alone has a delayed warp compared to warp if there is a structure nearby (inside it's field). So having a gate makes the warp in faster
I may be the exception, but I really like Zerg vs. Zerg games. I feel like it's quite explosive and skill-intensive depending on what happens in the game.
Honestly I think Maxpac plays a much better prot vs zerk game.
Better early game distraction, better blink control, know how to use storm when playing against mass lower tier units, better distraction set up for zealot runs, overall better micro, better transaction timing, better adaptations from seeing enemy units,

AOE like storm in particular is very very important when you are failing behind in units. Making more single target dps while already falling behind is just going to make you fall MORE behind.

Serral is a beast, and he is considered the GOAT even by most Korean Pros as stated by herO in a recent interview he did.
At this point only a few Terran/Maru fanboys are the only ones left debating this undeniable fact.
Never won a GSL nor even tried it- we‘d all love to see it - sadly he‘s probably too afraid to end up like Reynor
@@gerkan2052 GSL is irrelevant since 2018 when Serral crushed every top Korean Pro for the entire year.
Every GSL champion is getting obliterated every time they play against Serral.
@@gerkan2052 The Korean with most GSL wins was not able to take even a single map from Serral in the Grand Finals of 2 separate global tournaments (he was crushed 4-0 in both, and it was not even close) which are both much bigger than GSL. And the second one was while Serral is doing his military service which limits massively the time he can spend on the game.
@@OnigoroshiZero First of all, weekend tournaments like Katowice are barely comparable to preparation based tournaments like GSL. Just imagine u could train and prepare for the typical low apm cannonrusher on ladder that always does the Same shit and still keeps on winning. Once u get used to his style and exploit weaknesses, he‘d be forced to mix it up. For that matter, Serrals achievements are surely not to be underestimated due to his superb mechanics and micro but i will refuse to call him the goat unless he actually tries to win in Korea.
Secondly, u notice that almost every weekend tournament is won by zerg while protoss and Terran historically struggle to win any of these tournaments. This is due to the fact that zerg isnt necessarily op but has the most solid openings to secure u going to the midgame safely. Once the zerg messes up this stage of the game, its almost always game. Macro zergs that rarely switch up their solid openings etc. are just kind of favoured in these scenarios unless some T or P takes massive risks to stop the zerg from growing. If u regularly watch GSL youll See that almost every game and matchup is completely different and there is far more variety due to the players preparing for facing one another.
So, to sum up, Weekend tournaments are a completely different Style of tourney that almost always favor zergs with the most solid mechanics. Serral has yet to prove that he can win a tournament that involves specific preparation for every opponent which is GSL. If he wins GSL he is the GOAT surely.
@@gerkan2052 Calling Katowice a low-stakes tournament is insulting to everyone who puts in the work to get results there. Beyond that, you've got it turned around. Top players, both korean and european, agree that preparation-based tournaments are exactly the kind of tournaments that serral dominates. In smaller tournaments it's possible to take a game off Serral if you catch him off guard. If he scopes you out in advance there's simply no chance. He'll know how you're preparing to beat him and have the counter ready. it's the very thing that separates serral from other top players in terms of results. He may not have the cleanest execution on his pocket builds, but he hides them from play better and always has them ready to blindside his strongest opponents in key matches because he can afford to play standard the rest of the time. He studies enemy builds better than anyone else and shuts those builds down with as little sacrifice as possible. From there it's just about dictating the pace of the game and taxing his opponents' APM and attention while making the most efficient use of his own APM. While he can keep up, he's nowhere near the fastest player or the most mechanical player - he loses to reynor and dark in ling-bane wars, maru and clem can both out-micro him with marine-marauder-medivac - but he's the best prepared and the most clinical. I think Serral doesn't go to GSL because it's a whole extra tournament to prepare for and he's just chosen not to spend his energy there.
tl;dr let me put it this way: Everyone going in to a tournament serral is participating in with aspirations to win expects they will either face him in bracket or he will be one of the grand finalists. ALL of them are preparing to fight Serral. ALL of them have a plan or a pocket build, at least one, for Serral, even if they think they can take him in a standard game. Everyone Serral is playing is preparing against him specifically because they know he's the tournament favorite. So how is Katowice not a preparation-based tournament as far as Serral is concerned?

It's not the first time I see Her0 going mass stalkers against a swarmy type of playing. Zerg will overcome you eventually. Sky toss nowadays is also a terrible idea. Colossus and disruptors are risky.. just go storm and be happy, man. Along with a few imortals and sentries, and of course, a lot of stalkers and zealots.
