This is probably the most underrated song of all time. He wrote it at 20! It speaks to the existential human experience. It hints at the depersonalization disorder Vinnie would desribe struggling through many years later. This song is just brilliant in many ways. The album in general is not the most professionally produced obviously but this song is up there with the greatest JMT songs and the greatest rap songs period!
I kinda like it when its not of high production quality. It gives it those raw underground vibes!
the album was produced in stoupes bedroom, they did ok with what they had. lol
Do you suffer from dpdr . I am suffering for 2 years . No breakthrough . Can we be in contact.
too bad he fell for the Worldly counterfit church and mistaken it for the Real Church and in turn doesnt beleive in Jesus, or atleast I dont know Vinnie, but he is Muslim isnt he? yeee fire track for sure, love it.....see to a Christian(who doesnt stand with Majority of the Christians) a true christian, this song other than one or 2 lines is what I relate to, Im a Bag of Dust lol but in a good way, fuck society, forget the ways of the world and leave it behind, this world never was for people like us.
@@Hellobuffal No I do not suffer from the disorder. I am sorry to hear you do. I do find it fascinating because I have had positive out of body experiences. It is the most difficult disorder for me to wrap my mind around. It seems to have certain overlaps with teachings of Vedanta/Yoga but unfortunately the disorder causes lots of mental pain.
Damn, this track has walked along side me through life. Nothing but appreciation for Vinnie + Stoupe, they've always been raw from day one.
same bro. got this CD from my computer science teacher at 8th grade, listening to this for about 20 years
Imagine I finally got this album on vinyl today ! Firm favourite of all time for me also
DOPE as F*CK!!!!
I can relate

This masterpiece will live for eternity.
"To live alone one must be an animal or a god"- Aristotle
Vinnie is well versed in philosophy.
A genuine master at his craft with thought-provoking lyricism.
The was Fredrick Nietzache my friend. You must not be
@@codylane6352 really I think Aristotle said it first ...I think it’s from “ethics” could be wrong though
@@codylane6352 “Aristotle says that in order to live alone one must either be an animal or a god. The third alternative is lacking. A man must be both; a philosopher.”
- Friedrich Nietzsche. Now stop embarrassing yourself.
@@mookiestewart3776 It's actually in Politics (Πολιτικά).
You butchered the quote, since you've clearly never actually read Aristotle's works. The exact quote Vinnie pulled his line from is
*"Whosoever is delighted in solitude, is a wild beast or a God."*
Which summarized just implies that absolute solitude from any outside interaction will either bring you to Godhood or reduce you to a monster void of humanity. The latter is more often the case since most men cannot go without social interactions and succumbing to desires of the flesh. It's almost impossible to abstain from humanity when you yourself are a fragment of it. But few can rise above it, while most will destroy themselves trying. Sometimes it's safer to just accept it and submit to the fact you're just a man. Never becoming much, but never losing what you already have.
I once met Vinnie and got to hang out with him backstage. I was so stoked to meet him. One of the only hip hop artists I truly liked and admired since I'm super picky and they have to have a certain sound for me to really dig them. My buddy was a promoter for them so I got to just spend all night chillin with him. One of the coolest dudes ever. I told him I'm not really into hip hop, and that I really only like unique shit and I'm more of a rock guy. But told him that I really liked him and Army of the Pharoahs which is true to this day... Vinnie goes "yea I ain't much into rap either, more of a metal guy myself". We hit it off immediately and it was a great night to remember I'll never forget that shit.
kinda reminds me of that time I met Killah Priest and talked to him for like a half hour 10 years ago 💞
Makes sense why he bit necros vocal style. He sounded so much better here.
@@codexmachina1358 he didn't bite shit off Necro
Edit 06-2024: Necro is a fascist. He has become full US jingoist. "If you don't like it, leave."
That's dope, I'm a metalhead but I've been listening to underground hip hop since I was a kid. I always explain to people that to me most underground hip hop is just death metal lyrics with more simple music. Like ill bill, kool g rap, canibus, edan, it's all battle rap with brutal lyrics.
@Aaa yeah bc his vocal style after violent by design is the same as his other work and totally unrecognizable and anything necro was doing 😄 necro himself acknowledged this
Hip hop ain't dead it just lives underground
Hip-hops not dead it will be here in the future/ Lifes not a bitch she's just sick of being personified"- Nonprophets 'That Ain't Right'
This track and "Is happiness just a word" go together hand and hand... It's almost sad to look back now but it makes sense.. the pieces of the puzzle while distorted still fit.
Word
This is one of the most intelligent street poetries to ever exist. Zone out to these lyrics and they should give you the chills
end of days gives me chills
+Mark Bailey cringiest song I've ever heard lol
+Fatal Mean Guillotine the fact that you actually used the word "cringiest" tells why you think that... Go back to drake vids
+Fatal Mean Guillotine name one conspiracy theory mentioned in this track... And if you think that depression, derealization, and references to ancient religious texts are "outrageous conspiracy theories" then don't bother responding. Haha but how did I know
+Fatal Mean Guillotine but I understand intelligent hip hop intimidates people like you these days
This is literally the most relatable song i've ever heard. It's so bullshit knowing that the same bullshit will just happen over and over till you die.. "To live alone one must be an animal or a God" one of the deepest things ever. Everyone needs friends and people in their life to be happy but life's reality much more harsh, going through my struggle everyday by myself with absolutely no one is real pain. Even after saying all this millions of times, it all just happens over and over again with no changes.
Real talk bro
Read the bible it's some good stuff.
estou contente por encontrar um portugues aqui :)
It's like telepathy
Catch-22 is better.
Those fast sequences while Vinnie was lying in front of the TV half asleep always gets me, it has something melancholic in it
Ten years later still gives me chills
its great to share "this" great feeling , cheers from Greece J B . Have fun
for the record, this song came out in 1997
shit like 20 years for me lol
Man, he could write.
This song is pure genius and maybe one of the realest tracks out there
An extremely beautiful, poetic, and powerful song. I Who Have Nothing by Jedi Mind Tricks is a song that we all can relate to. We can all relate to the fact that for all of us, life is hard.
Song still hitting strong 2023.
"To live alone one must be a beast or a god"
- Aristotle
As always, Pazienza has done his research.
TheKarp in fact it’s from the German philosopher Nietzsche. Source: Nietzsche, Götzen-Dämmerung oder Wie man mit dem Hammer philosophiert, 1889.
@@johannesklement5873 the concept came from Aristotle it was reflected upon by German philosophers afterwards but that's not where the idea itself originated
Mookie Stewart you are right about the idea. But the quote is from Nietzsche;) merry Christmas
"To live alone one must be a beast or a god, says Aristotle. Leaving out the third case: one must be both - a philosopher" - Nietzsche
Johannes Klement idk where your math is bro but Aristotle is a bit before the German philosophy.
No one understands how awake and ahead of their time Jedi mind tricks was. Lyrically and the meaning behind the music is deep and honestly there’s nothing comparable to them in today’s music.
Crazy man , this could be studied and should be studied in university classes how poetic it is, 90s rap was truly remarkable. That was the peak of hip hop mostly downhill from there lyrically
Beats today r better than ever but hip hop was at it's best early 90s late 80s. Was still pure in its artform but was mainstream enough to have so much talent
Back then people who couldn't rap didn't try to rap.
We the fans understand you sound dumb
Vinnie Paz is very smart bro he has read so many books one of he's favourites is Behold A Pale Horse written by William Cooper
Word up! Much love and respect from germany! I wish I could hear them life once in my life.
@@francisdrake3730 Edit: I wish I could hear them "Live" once in my life
"There comes a time in every man's life when he's gotta handle shit up on his own"

Vinnie: "Ability to endure contradiction is a high sign of culture"
Friedrich Nietzsche: "Everyone knows at present that the ability to endure contradiction is a good indication of culture.”

Vinnie has always been wise.
But didn't he end up in the crazy house?n like his sister got his work published no??idk I'm high as fuuck
This is seriously one of the greatest songs in hip hop, ever.
Yes sir
I couldnt agree more
This is an all-time top 10 hiphop classic
No. No it is not.
+Anthony Johnston Yes.. Yes it is.
+AGeorghiou Really? Out of the hundreds of thousands of Hiphop songs that have been released in the past 35 years you are claiming this is one of the ten best Hiphop songs ever made? This? Sit down and reconsider.
Anthony Johnston Yes, Really. i believe so.
+AGeorghiou Then your experience of Hiphop is extraordinarily narrow, you might want to do something about that. I'm not a hater either, I have an original pressing of this album, and I'm telling you, even Vinnie Paz and Stoupe themselves would laugh in your face for saying that.
Vinnie was a youngster here. Still rockin his shit till today. 10-2019
The Fluoride In my water makes me forget about conscious hip hop.
if you've Fluoride in your water. you live in the wrong place.
Here in ''the watermountains'' of Europe, the alps, we've spring water direct from nature.

"To live alone, one must be an animal or a God" - Aristotle.... and also Jedi Mind Tricks
That Pharcyde sample was the cherry on top.
This song is straight art. Perfectly represents the pain of isolation.
Ability to endure contradiction is a high sign of culture
A reference from a book entitled The Joyful Wisdom by Friedrich Nietzsche.
The original line from the book is: “Everyone knows at present that the ability to endure contradiction is a good indication of culture.”
verbal sculpture, self defacing.
"I who have nothing but the lack of variation and I who have nothing but chains and suffocation" Describes my life exactly... Everytime I try to get farther ahead I can only go so far before I'm pulled back again.
Saw them perform in '99-00 at University show. Picked up the Violent by Design album later in early '01 around January
