We totally agree! We love Harvest Host stops and always spend more than a regular campground fee but well worth it. Like Mark said we are thankful these places exist! Large facility and room to camp, gotta love that. We bet it was pretty at night with live music. Thanks for sharing. Paul & Magen
Thank you for a great video and Merry Christmas to you both! We will be sure to stop next time we go through New Mexico as we always pass Deming. We will be sure to stop at the winery. Travel safely ❤️
Thank you both for sharing your journey and letting me look over your shoulder. You have come a long way from your full service hook up routine. Of course, my idea of roughing it is staying in a Holiday Inn without room service.
We own land about 10 miles east of Deming (just sand and no one living near)) and have spent a lot of time in Deming. Lots of nice restaurants in town and 1 way east of town, maybe 6 miles east. We have been to St. Clair before the name change. Have Merry Christmas and safe travels and stay in California.
Have fun! We are working with our RV Trip Wizard trip planning program now, and are trying to plan in as many Harvest Host stays along our route as we can!
We are heading here Friday and watched your video to pre-plan. Great stuff, and a really well done and enjoyable video. Thanks! (And I’m parking waaay over to the east)😊
I live about 5 miles from the bistro that you almost stoped at. I believe that it is affiliated with the winery that you stoped at. Nice review safe travels.
We visited the St. Clair Winery 2 years ago, before their name change, the first year we started our FT adventure. I still have a bottle of their unique green chili wine left from the half dozen or so bottles we bought there, as we're not big wine drinkers. We also still have a little dog we adopted from the humane shelter in Deming during our visit. We stayed at a nice little RV park not far from the winery called El Rancho Lobo. They have recently changed their name to Wolf RV Park, but their low $175 monthly rate hasn't changed, in case you're looking for a longer stay on a budget. I highly recommend them.
That is really cheap! We are in CA now, at an RV park that is considered very reasonable at $1570/month. Even at that, we have to LEAVE after 28 days, and be out of the park 48 hours before we can come back!
@@OurJourneyInMylesI know what you mean about how expensive it is to live in CA, as we lived in L.A. (Burbank) for 10 years, leaving 20 years ago. We visited family in Ventura last year and I couldn't believe how much everything continues to go up. We sure couldn't afford to live there now - except maybe at Slab City. ;) Now, we either boondock (as our MH has solar and plenty of tank capacity) or stay at affordable RV parks. We're staying at an RV park now that we wintered over in last year too. It is in Los Indios, TX, near Brownsville. Last year we paid $160/mo. (+ electricity) for a 6 month (covid) stay here at this nice FHU park. Electricity averages between $80 - $100/month here (15 cents/KWH) depending on how much we run our AC units. It got up to 80 degrees today, Dec. 22, so we had to run them a little, but winters are very mild here requiring little heat or AC. This year we'll be staying 5 months, for $170/mo., here at Angler's Nest RV Park. 2-4 months is $180/mo. We just made a day trip across the border for unbelievably cheap meds, dentist, tequila and more. We're retired to full time RVing a couple years ago on SS and a small pension. We are having more fun, and putting more money in savings every month than we were when we were both working and living in a S&B. BTW, I plan on boondocking on BLM LTVA land next winter, at Quartzsite and Yuma for $180 for the entire winter season (which includes water, dump and trash pick-up.) Life is good.
We literally drove right by the place! As we got close we called to see where they suggested we park 65 feet of machinery. We were surprised they had no advice, so we moved on! Maybe next time,.........Covid has made small stops "uncomfortable".
We love Harvest Host stays. Thanks for sharing your stays. We look forward to checking them out on our cross country trip this Spring/summer. We are planning a northern route east and come back via the a southern route. We did this this summer and saw some great Harvest Hosts. I can highly recommend Paw Paw’s Pecan Farm in Atkins AR for one. 👍
I'm pretty sure I will never be getting a drone. It is already a chore keeping track of 3 or 4 cameras worth of footage! I can still dream though,.....
We actually love the restrictions,.........it's the fact that the population is so large that the ICU's are full. On the news many are reporting negative bed capacity. The mayor of LA warned that auto, car, industrial, yard work, and all other emergency accidents are becoming tragedies now. Believe me, if Sues daughter wasn't here, we would leave,........just to get to more ICU capacity. I am actually more careful of everything now,.....even when I sharpen pencils.
A large percentage of HH allow gen use those that don't will post it in the details of the location mainly farms. But please understand that your fellow campers probably would like for you to observe the quiet hours etiquette.
We had our generator on to run our A/C until the sun went down. This HH location is so large and we parked far enough away that you couldn't even hear the generator. Of course if you have a contractors level of generator making a lot of racket, I would expect that to be frowned upon.
