    I am a 72 year old white male in Texas. I just finished my first Gaithersburg Stole! It took quite awhile to get through as I had many mistakes to work through. It is not perfect, but it looks great. My next project is going to be the Wheat Cabled Scarf to go along with the stole. Thank you so much for doing your outstanding videos as I would never have gotten through this with just you book.

      Good for you, Patrick! I started mine last winter, but stopped half way through as spring arrived due to working with wool. When I began again it was actually fun relearning the stitches under Bonney’s excellent direction.The greatest lessons I learned from this project were patience, diligence, and perseverance. If the stitch count was inaccurate I learned to rip back with a deep breath, and a smile to locate the error. Really! I am as grateful for mastering my emotion in the process of construction as I am with the finished product. Thank you Bonney, for your generosity in sharing your craft online with all of us, and Patrick, much happiness with project #2!

    Hi Bonnie, I consider myself to be a advanced beginner. But I’ll never be an advanced beginner if I don’t expand my knowledge of crochet and the more advanced stitches available. That’s why I love watching your videos. Even though some are really out of my wheelhouse I save them, rewatch them and build up my confidence to expand my knowledge. It is much easier seeing you working the pattern as oppose to me reading the pattern. I was getting stuck and honestly, it was me not really understand the pattern. I got it as soon as i saw you working the stitches row by row. SO, I thank you! You are a blessing to me. I appreciate everything you do for us. Thank you, again. God Bless You!

    I am so glad that I came across this tutorial as I have the book. Also, I think that using a yarn with wool in it makes such a difference especially when the item has some weight to it and will hang a bit like a shawl or wrap. Wool helps keep the piece keep it's shape - that's my opinion. Simply Soft is a very thin Worsted #4 weight yarn and I have made shawls with it before but it's not my favorite. Making the shawl in a DK weight yarn is a great idea! I love your designs -- thank you for sharing your talents with the rest of us!

    This is lovely. I bought the book some time ago as I was keen to learn how to cable using crochet. I don’t like knitting. I had several goes with no success, but the CZcams tutorial gave success. However, I still had lots of mistakes. Retaining the 212 stitches caused the greatest problem and I think the error tended to occur on row 2 & 3. Thereafter and following my errors, I kept a tight eye on the numbers on those rows. I used a Lion Brand Fishermen’s wool in oatmeal, but had to reduce the fringing numbers to 18 rather than 23, as I was running out of yarn. The end product is lovely and I am so proud of having finally achieved this. Thank you.🌺😀

Par contre, le visuel est tellement clair qu'il est facile de vous suivre.👍 Merci beaucoup pour ce beau projet, au plaisir de découvrir d'autres merveille de votre part.😍 Bisous du Québec!😘

    I love using natural fibers myself! Thank you Ms. Bonnie for all you wonderful tutorials with thorough explanations! You are so helpful and so much appreciated! This looks a little complicated for me being new to crochet 🧶, but I will try anything, I like a challenge and with a teacher like yourself who wouldn’t be able to recreate these beautiful projects 😊😊 I’ll let you know if I was able to do this! 😂 fingers crossed 🤞

    I just wanted to share that a high percentage of people are allergic to wool. This is a mixed yarn, but people should know this. Nice thing about this project is that it’s a garment you wear over clothes. Most people in the world who have mainly wool clothing for warmth and for cooling (like Saudi Arabia) folks wear under garments of cotton or linen to protect against an allergic reaction from wool. The military uses wool fairly heavily because it protects against heat and cold. Anyway, keep this in mind when you decide on wool for a project. Happy crocheting guys!

    Just beautiful!
    I'm going to make this for my best friend to wear at church. Often times, it's not cold enough to wear a wrap to church where she goes but when the AC comes on she gets chilly. She can leave this at their little church and always have it to put over her shoulders when she needs it.
    ❓I don't want to use fringe for this. Is there a different edging that would be appropriate for this piece that's not too frilly? I'm asking because I'm going to adapt the center parts of this to make a scarf for her husband. They like to dress in similar colors and such so I thought it would be fun to make them something that matches but he won't want fringe or frilly. I would like something on the ends but I want it to be appropriate for the celtic stitches.
    Thanks Bonnie! I really have enjoyed learning from you. I've been just watching you make several pieces until I feel comfortable, now, with attempting these celtic stitches. I love them!!! ❤️

    • @BonnieBayCrochet
      @BonnieBayCrochet  Před 3 lety +2

      What a great idea Marian! As for an alternative to fringe, one of my favorite non-frill edgings is to work the post ribbing (fpdc, bpdc) across and work this for 3-4". Will work well for the masculine version as well.
