Thanks for mentioning that record store, I'll have to check it out. You're right about the benefits of owning a movie you love on DVD or Blu Ray, because everything online has a way of disappearing, then re-appearing for a price!!

after many years of being a pirate, I started buying some of my favorite Blu-ray movies based on my top favorites, my goal is to reach at least my very top 50 movies to this day, maybe some more extras as time passes by and new titles make the top list. i
Its also crazy i thought pirated movies looked really good on my pc connected to my tv, i mean it never hurt having them for free and having the honor to watch any movie I want once they are available but I thought i was downloading the best quality yet, really did not know the impact of popping a blueray on my ps4, extremely noticeable details.
So yeah, now that bluray is realively cheap thats one of my goals for this and the upcoming 2024.
Maybe later on ill flipped them or something and start buying the ultra hd versions when they become cheaper.

I thought I was the only one who collected dvds just in case my wife goes out or Netflix not having the movie. I don’t have a bunch, maybe like 15 at the most right now, but I do plan on stocking up. I have a list of what movies I want though so yeah. Sorry for the long comment

If you purchase a Blu Ray, then you "own" the product. You can watch it whenever you want to.
If you only stream, then at best, you only have purchased the "right" to watch a video.
At any time, any streaming service or studio might decide to "take back" their product leaving you with no way to watch it, nor be reimbursed for the cost.
Many people are willing to trade the storage space of a physical product for the convenience of streaming, gambling that it will always be available to them.
I have 20 DVDs physically that are out of print and are no longer available. Otherwise I stream.
I personally don't care about the owning vs. renting concept , it's more of the bonus content advantages and the tangibility
@@FlixTalk I agree completely with the bonus content. As for tangibility, it's not as much a priority for me.

Physical media is VERY IMPORTANT I have purchased movies and T.V. Shows on streaming services that have become unavailable and therefore I can no longer view them.
Honestly movies anywhere is the only one I considered Vudu I'm skeptical about as I got that one too but movies anywhere seems cool but physical media is where it's at

The other advantage of owning a physical copy is they can't censor the movie if some minority finds a certain scene offensive i.e Robert downey jnr in Tropical thunder
