Just found this. Glad you checked them out. One of the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands, founded in 2011. They go hard and heavy, and epitomize the technical side of Japanese rock bands. Here is the original lineup:
    Kimi-Vocals
    Haru-Bass, growls
    Misa-Guitars, growls
    Mitsuru-Guitars (pink flying V)
    Kai-Drums
In 2019, Kai left to start a family, Misa left to pursue her own musical vision, Mitsuru soon followed, and they had to bebuild. Amazingly, they did so without any loss in quality, finding Misaki and Ayumi on Guitar, and Natsumi, formerly of Telecide, to take over on drums (after a brief trial with another drummer).
    Second Lineup:
    Kimi-vocals
    Haru-bass, growls/metal vocals
    Misaki-Guitar, audience left
    Ayumi-Guitar, audience right
    Natsumi-Drums
I saw them live in London just after this lineup came together, and they were explosive, playing mostly stuff from the original lineup. They have experimented with a variety of styles, dabbing in progressive and pop, but they still come back to their metal roots. In “Brave New World Revisited” (czcams.com/video/_6-OXcyMkYI/video.html) they’ve got a masterpiece. It’s also a tour-de-force for their brilliant young guitarist Ayumi. With work like this, they should re-emerge into the top tier of Japanese bands.
In early 2022, Misaki, who suffers from severe stage fright, left the band for health reasons, and they scrambled to find a new co-lead guitarist. They have been joined by Moe, and their first release with her on board showcases some great dual shredding between her and Ayumi. Hopefully this lineup will last!

Welcome to one of the bands I listen. Bridear has some really good ones, but also "not so good ones". This lineup was their old one. This old line up is also my favorite. Both guitarists are more or less inactive nowadays... As in the drummer and these guitarists are not in the band anymore. Light in the dark is one of my favorites... "Thread of the light" being my clear number one favorite. It is in fact one of the best songs I have ever heard(Not technically, but by sound). I hope you can react to that some day. These girls can play well live as well, but do not be fooled to think they are Lovebites in live setting... they are not. Bridear used to be heavy(like this), then they "got softer" and now lately they are going heavier sound again. Line up has changed quite a bit on the way. Not my top favorite band, but they have good stuff. I also hope someone will make you to react to latest Lovebites song: The judgement day. The new song with new bassist, 2nd song from the new album, which comes out in february 2023. It will blow you away...

@@elmowism I got the impression that she wasn't doing much until Madaseka project. Mitsuru is actually my favorite member of Bridear... That smile is golden. It's not long ago, when I tried to check what Mitsuru is up to nowadays. Did not notice Madaseka project at that time. Glad you pointed it out. Managed to finally find it.

FYI, the growling stuff is done by Haru, the bassist. It's kind of funny, because she's tiny, but makes noises like that. She's a damn good bassist. I don't know about the current guitarists, but their new drummer, Natsumi, is really good.

8.4 is a great score taking on your comments about the studio post production work, the song structure and the introduction that sent you a curved ball.
Following on from your post production comment, even Nightwish and Lovebites send off their live recording to a production company, they use the same one, for the audio mix for the live DVD's. As you know, they sound incredible and almost a studio quality recording is what we hear.
Bridear is another female Japanese band that I find my self fanboying about. Not sure if it is my age bit I recall going to see the usual male rock/metal bands in my youth, I don't mean the likes of Iron maiden, Priest etc, more the bands you would find touring the country in a van and even though the blokes were of a similar age to some of these Japanese all female bands, the difference is musicianship is vast. I don't deny with the likes of Nemophila, Hanabie the smiles and joy the girls have playing live, sways my view somewhat.
I don't really know much about Bridear but plenty of others have commented about them for you.

Nice reaction - you got the syllable pattern right on the name but were a little off on the vowels - on the first "Bri" syllable, Kimi the vocalist somewhat surprisingly pronounces the "i" like an English long "i" instead of what you might normally expect from a Japanese word written in Romaji. The second "De" syllable is pronounced like typical romaji so it sounds like the English word "day" and then the final "Ar" syllable is pronounced pretty much as you pronounced it.
The lineup you saw here is the original lineup of the band which was together from 2011 - 2017 but since then there's been a bit of roster turnover so the bassist and vocalist are the only original members remaining.
A couple other interesting facts about the band
    1. Most of the better known JRock bands come from either Tokyo or Osaka, but Bridear hail from a prefecture in the far south of Japan. Because of this some fans on the internet like to compare it to Pantera being form Texas while most American metal bands are from either the Northeast or West coast (I'm actually not sure how true that claim about American metal bands is, but it is the argument used to make the geographical comparison between Bridear and Pantera).
    2. In the current lineup of the band, bassist Haru handles the harsh vocals, but in the original lineup it was actually MISA, the shorter haired (here) guitarist wearing the brown leather corset. Note Bridear was founded at least a year before Band-Maid so she would probably argue she is the "original" MISA, not the "other" MISA, if she was inclined to do so but instead these days she just goes by her full name, Misato Ono - no idea if she does this to differentiate herself form the Band Maid bassist or as a break from the past or (probably most likely) some other personal reason she has no interest in sharing. Just an interesting thing to note.
MISA was the first original member to leave at the end of 2017 around the time Bridear released a song called "Dear Bride" which was more rock than metal, as well as a couple covers of Jpop songs. Because of this certain sections of the internet started insisting (without any corroborating evidence beyond her departure) that MISA had rage quit over a perceived shift in musical direction of teh rest of teh band away fomr metal. These claims became rather comic in hindsight when after a period of a year or two where she was mostly quiet, she re-emerged under her full name Misato Ono as a sort of soft rock or maybe even jazz singer/guitarist. Meanwhile Bridear's musical style post MISA's departure has remained very much metal.
Another interesting thing is Misato speaks perfect English (the harsh vocals here are actually all English) and some other JRock bands (most notably Destrose spin off group Fate Gear) have hired Misato to do the translation when they decided to release English language versions of their original Japanese songs.
    3. The other guitarist with the flying V guitar in the video is Mitsuru who left Bridear a year after Misato and now plays in a solo project called "Mada mita koto no nai Sekai" (The World I have not yet seen). Mitsuru has some of the coolest looking guitars with the fascinating back story that they are apparently all custom built for her by her father by Frankensteining together bits and pieces from other guitars. Interestingly, Junna has been playing with Mitsuru's solo project recently, although she is billed as a live support drummer rather than a full member (then again this is true of all the instrumentalists other than Mitsuru).
    4. Original drummer Kai also left around the same time as Mitsuru and was very briefly replaced by Yuri, the current drummer of Gacharic Spin (after Hana switched to second guitar). Yuri was in Bridear for maybe a week before the Gacharic Spin opening came up and she left to pursue that. Bridear then brought in Natsumi who has a collection of Iron Maiden T-shirts to rival Miho's -generally it is considered to have worked out well for everyone as Natsumi fits in better with Bridear while Yuri fits better with Gacharic Spin. But before she left, Yuri was in Bridear just long enough to pose for some promotional group photographs which surface every now and then and make you do a double take.

@@DRESSMAKER20X I do recall a video maybe a year ago where she spoke of her illness and how it had been affecting her more recently, but I don't recall her linking the illness to why she left Bridear (or really ever mentioning Bridear or explaining why she left), but it could certainly have been a factor in that decision.
Regardless of why she left or changed styles, still think her own change in style makes all the speculation that she had rage quit Bridear over Dear Bride not being metal enough comical in hindsight.

    • @elmowism
      @elmowism Před rokem +2

@@greggarvin2663 There are a thousands of possible reasons why someone might leave a band. "It wusnt heavy enuff" is just a cliche assumption which is usually made because it sounds metal. For whatever reason some people also need a guilty person anytime something like this happens.
I switched my job more often than Bridear swapped members so I dont think its a big deal. Its just life and maybe a bit of bad luck.
