I can attest to this. About a year ago I got a brain injury and it completely changed my life. I went from being a shy introvert who was scared of confrontation to the most extroverted person you will ever meet. I used to be extremely overweight as well but I realized who I was and I hated it I completely changed and I am now a healthy weight. I also realized I didn't like my girlfriend and was stuck in a toxic relationship that I promptly got out of. Brain Injuries are not something to take lightly I got very lucky that mine changed me for the better.

@@garydelong7750You’re joking right? You absolutely need a helmet while running the bases. Runner tries to steal second and slide in but the catchers throw misses and hits the runner in the head. Runner slides head first into a bag and ball comes in low and hits the runner in the head. Happens more often than you would think. Running be base paths without a helmet is asking for trouble. Catchers can throw over 70, 80, 90 miles an hour. Coaches came and helped. We had the same ump a couple games later ( I turned out to be fine, just hurt so bad the first few days), I heard him telling the other team that “if the catcher is on home plate, push em off” that’s not the bad part, the bad part is that he started talking about ME and didn’t realize it and started saying it was funny when I got pushed off. He was also being so unfair to our team. Kept calling strikes for the other team when if it was our pitcher, if was a ball. Also, kept treating us like MLB players.

I jumped up but was stumbling a bit trying to tell my coach and ump im good that it just scared me. They told me take a few minutes to catch myself. I did but still that ringing got louder and louder and didn't go away for a while. I kept telling them I was gone though and they believed me and let me stay in.
I ended up with terrible migraines and would feel sick to my stomach every time I'd go outside from the light. It was like that for the next few weeks. Concussions are no joke and I get the kid wanted to continue but baseball is no place for someone concussed. Look what happened to Rizzo last season. Went from the best hitter in the league to batting .160 cause of a concussion that he didn't heal properly by taking the time to rest.

I've had way too many concussions. Literally got hit in the head with a truck and I 100% believed I was fine. They found me wandering in a field talking on the phone to no one and I kept telling everyone(the police) I was ok just on the phone with the police.

After a youth of playing hockey and overall athlete and being 20 and seeing the affects from time to time of brain injury this is needed more many times I felt like it wasn’t until the game was over when I could notice something wasn’t right this is great all sports need to take more caution with the head injuries even if in the moment you feel like you can keep going

As an umpire at that level I have to go through training and certification on concussions. It’s priority to insure the safety of the kids. We can have players removed if deemed they are hurt. I’m glad this guy knew what to look for

Same happened to me and i wish him the best brother . It hasnt been easy for me. I sustained a helmet to helmet that knocked me off my feet while i was unconscious i slammed my head into the ground a second time causing 2nd contact. I immediately started seizing up and and lost most of the memory from that day. Its been almost 10 years and i still have lasting issue from it. I was never able to play contact sports again forsure.

Almost a week ago in my tournament I got a concussion and I kept saying I was fine because I was in denial and didn’t realize a 78 mph fastball to the head would give you a concussion
But the umpire was like him and would not let me go to first base and let a pinch runner go while our team staff made sure I was okay to run we need more umpires like that 😊

I was playing catcher one year and batter hit the ball and slung the bat, from what I remember, at the same time and slung the bat backwards hitting me in the dome with my helmet on.
I’ve never been right since that day. All I remember from that night is getting home and throwing up in the bushes outside my front door and I woke up in the hospital in my moms lap as she was begging me not to fall asleep and to stay awake.
A few visits to children’s hospital in Birmingham and my neurologist diagnosed me with sudden onset migraine headaches and said that injury literally flipped on a light switch in my brain to where now I get super migraine headaches several times a week.
    This was 17 years ago.

When my mother was little they were playing around in a baseball field and one of the kids got hit like that in head the pitcher threw it and it his head he said he was okay knocking at the door in his house for his mother to open once she did, he was laying down in the front dead it really is some serious stuff.
