I am having trouble importing my references into word. When I select a reference and click on the "insert citation"-button, nothing happens. How can I solve this? Also if I try selecting "insert selected citation(s)" in word after selecting the correct reference in Endnote, nothing happens. Could something be wrong in my settings?

Thanks for the great video! iCloud will automatically sync/backup the Document folder, and most Mac users do not know how to turn this off, or they need the iCloud to sync/backup their other documents and files in the Documents folder. Can you please advice/demonstrate different folder to save you EndNote library? Saving an EndNote library to the Documents folder (as you demonstrate in this video) is not recommended.
Thanks very much for your suggestion - we'll look at expanding on this notion within an EndNote for macOS full class recording video. As you've mentioned, iCloud syncing of the Desktop and Documents folders can be convenient, and I seldom recommend disabling this feature. For those who wish to leave this component of iCloud syncing enabled, I usually suggest creating an "EN Libraries" folder directly within the user's Home folder. That way access to the library can be limited to only this specific macOS user - very important if this is a shared workstation. However, any local folder not being synced by a third-party service should be suitable for storing an EndNote library.

Is it possible to import an already existing library which contains a lot of references?

It is possible to import one EndNote library into another. However, you would not need to perform an import action in your scenario. You could synchronize your EndNote library from your Mac, create a new library with your EndNote for Windows installation and then click Tools>Sync to synchronize your data between the two computers. Alternately, you could move a copy of your library's .enl file and associated .Data folder between your macOS and Windows computers. You have the option to move your two library components between computers as-is manually, or you could create a compressed library via File>Compressed Library to generate a single file containing both of these library components to move between machines. Am using pages on macOS & when I try to insert EndNote Citation, its greyed out (not active). Is it because am using trial version?

I'm sorry to hear about your issue with Apple Pages. I'd suggest making sure your EndNote application is open with an active EndNote library before opening your Pages document. If EndNote is up and running, but you're still seeing greyed out commands in Pages, you may need to install the underlying EndNote plug-in for Apple Pages:

Hello, I just started using EndNote (again). 3:42 shows how to import citation info from pubmed by using FireFox. I tried to do the same thing with Chrome, but it is not successful. Rather I was asked to save the citation data not opening it with EndNote. What can I do?
Hello - Mozilla Firefox has built-in file type associations where Google Chrome relies on the file type associations defined within your operating system. When direct exporting references from a website using Chrome, the browser will automatically download the temporary text file containing your reference information. You'd want to use Finder to set this type of file to open with EndNote X9. After setting your file type associations, in Chrome, you can click on the small arrow icon next to your downloaded temporary text file to select the "always open files of this type" option. A truncated library toolbar may indicate your library window is too narrow - try widening your library window and check for the mentioned mode toolbar buttons again.
Am I saving my .enl file to a local folder AND the .data folder? or just the .edl file? Thank you
Hello, Owen: thanks very much for your question. When creating a new library, you'll designate an unsynced folder on your local hard drive to save this library and define the name of this library file. EndNote will automatically create an enl file with this library name and a Data folder with the same name in the exact location. Be sure to keep these two library components (enl file and Data folder) at all times to open an identical copy of this EndNote library.

Are you seeing an Error Reading Records message when performing a PubMed search from within EndNote? If so, an impending EndNote X9.1 update will resolve the issue. I do apologize, but I can't give a specific date for when this update will be released, but EndNote will automatically inform you when the update is released. In the interim, I would recommend searching from the PubMed website and direct exporting your search results to your EndNote library. I do apologize for any inconvenience!

You can modify your preferred output style to add Cited Pages to your citation template. Be sure to add a preceding punctuation mark or space before typing your page number or page range within the Suffix field. I also have issues with the M1 and inserting page numbers. I used the Rosetta trick to get it up and running, but with page numbers, it just won't work despite hours of testing and trying. I'm about to lose my mind over this.

I suspect you were on Integrated Library & Online Search Mode when performing your Library of Congress query, which would mean all retrieved search results appear in your library automatically. Hello, Tshego: You'd start by opening your EndNote library and then your Apple Pages document. You'd position your cursor within your text's body where you'd like to create an in-text citation. With your cursor in position, click the Insert menu and choose EndNote Citation. From the Find EndNote Citation window, input a search term, and press your return key to initiate the search. Matches references from your library containing the search term will appear, you'd want to highlight whichever reference you would like to cite, and then you'd press Insert. From the Edit menu in Pages, point your mouse over EndNote Citations and choose your desired output style. Repeat these steps for any subsequent citations you'd like to add. SAME ITS DRIVING ME INSANE I literally cant insert the citations
i fixed it! okay this has taken me like an hour. But in word (im on mac) theyll be a section that says "tools, manuscript matcher and prefereces" click preferences>change to regualr endnote from endnote online!
I used to use "insert selected citation" but you guys removed that. Also now I have to log in 5 times to open endnote and CWYR, also the web tool is useless. You have done a really bad job updating this its crazy!!

Are you working with EndNote online or EndNote X9? Insert Citation is the primary method for automated reference insertion for EndNote online. However, the Insert Selected Citation(s) command is still part of EndNote desktop's Cite While You Write tools. If you're working with EndNote online's Cite While You Write tools, you can skip the log in process by clicking the Preferences button on the EndNote tab in Word and inputting your account credentials on the Application tab. If you've got EndNote X9 installed, but the EndNote online tools loading in Word, you can toggle which set of tools is loading from the Application tab, as well. Please let us know if this helps.

Come on, give the lady a break. She's clear and concise. As far as software tutorials go, this is pretty good. Just set the playback speed to 1.5x and you're good to go.
