I don't think I can put into words how timely and deeply beneficial this was.. Allah is truly the Most Merciful & The Most Wise. What a ni3mah.. that the reminder I was looking for. wa'alaykum as salaam my brother, i understand this situation very well. my family are out most of the time so my mother and i are the only ones home and we both find much time left in the day and at night at times.
you should try occupy yourself with something beneficial as cliché as it sounds and drink a small shot of coffee or something like this in the beginning.
I would say try not to use your computer whilst trying to occupy yourself because it will cause you problems with sleep even more so and is bad to be on it for long anyway. read books. go on night walks if you can with someone else, sit in the garden if you can and reflect/ponder to clear your mind, make notes or spend time practicing your Arabic writing through repetition and practice if you can, spend time with your parents if its possible, spend some time cleaning the house or doing small things like fixing the couch, cleaning the stove or countertop, washing any dishes left or don't if it becomes too loud and noisy. watch and listen to podcasts or lectures using headphones, if you can cut food up for the next day etc...
i know these come off specific but there is honestly so much you can actually do if you have free time and want to cut back on sleep. some of these seem mundane yet can please Allah and a lot of these tips regarding the home will definitely increase your love to your parents and will make them suuuuuuper happy and pleased with you. sorry if i have taken too much of your time with this comment.
