#andertons #blackstar #guitarpedals - Hudba
Does not matter which gear, those jams are amazing. Love them ❤
Great video guys, it’s good to see such a choice from blackstar. I have the Amped 1 for it’s footprint on my pedalboard, but I can easily see why you might want one of the others. I find I spend less time messing with tones on the Amped 1 and more time playing than I do with my helix or Kemper, they sound great but I do like the simplicity of the Amped 1 🙂
These reviews are always great! Two gear heads that can jam together so naturally 👌👌
Nice demo - and they all look useful. I've got to say, though, for nailing a specific classic sound in a pedalboard-friendly package, the UAD Dream '65 does it for me - and, for ultimate flexibility, the Neunaber Neuron is superb. Between the two, I've got all the bases covered that I'm ever likely to need.
Just got my Amped 2 and very impressed so far
I just used one on tour. I wasnt missing a tube amp. The IRs sound amazing through a big PA and my in ear monitors sounded the best they have ever sounded.
Did you use the stock IRs?
I love my Amped3! Great blend of analog and digital IMHO
I just bought one. It’s going on a Pedaltrain Metro 24 with a Line 6 M5, a tasty delay, a fuzz & tuner bypass.
Tonally I love it. It feels very similar to the old Sansamp TRI-AC which was a staple of my rig for a decade. I think this will be more revolutionary than modelling floorboards have been. My only gripe is I’d have made the auxiliary power 1amp to take more pedals and instead of switchable reverb I’d have had a switchable Fx loop with delay trails.
As Pete said, this sounds solid state. Don't expect it to respond like a valve amp.
I have an Amped 1 and I love it. It's perfect for what I want out of it. It gives the most flexibility to use pedals I want to. It fits on the same pedal board with my other pedals. I feel like the Amped 2 and 3 are actually limiting in my use case.
Just had the opportunity to run one of these through a mesa cab. Absolute game changer! Sounds better than most there amps/ most amps. I aslo work for a big guitar store, so I get to play a lot of cool shit. For $600, this thing is incredible. Blackstar hit a home run with this one.
It's not loud enough to play live
It's crazy just how many options guitarists have nowadays to get sound into ear holes. I remember gigging in the 90s meant you pretty much have to have a 100-watt 4x12 or you wouldn't be heard over the drummer in most bars/small venues.
So, after watching the video for the Amped 2 a few weeks ago I bought one. So far I really like it. But then I saw the video for the Amped 3 and thought I made a mistake. But, after watching this video I think for my playing tastes the Amped 2 is the better choice for me. Anyhow, thanks for the reviews and the music.
Love the content ' keep it up 🤘
You can change (and save) the length and tone of the reverb on The Amped 3 like with the Amped 1 using the Architect CabRig software.
And I forgot to mention you can also choose between spring, room and plate reverb in the software and save that back to the amp.
It’s quite big still! Not a lot of room left for a wah, chorus, OD pedal and noise suppressor. Sounds a bit fuzzy too.
Got one of these ( amped 3) . Been playing it for 6 weeks or so now regularly in the house . I would say it’s strong points being that it makes a decent practise tool with an effects loop , so you can plug in a looper . Play straight into headphones and or a speaker . Definately a useful unit . It is quite dynamic as well . But I don’t know after a few weeks I find that I’m craving valves . Eventually the ‘ ear ‘ gets tired of these digital modellers . Well for me anyway . I’m on the fence on whether to sell this as it’s useful , but I really want a proper amp again
Should I get the Amped 3 or just wait for the Amped 4 coming out next month?
These are quite big. If you're using a pedalboard as well one might as well have a lunchbox amp head. I bought the new Laney Ironheart Loudpedal last week, much more compact. And a bargain price. I really do like the renaissance for solid state we're enjoying at the moment.
One buys these things for the amps sound not for a lot of features and extras. Nearly every guy will end up buying pedals with better sounds and not use what they paid for. The Ironheart is much better idea. Add to that if you decide latter etc you want tubes or something else you have a killer back up to take to the gig and its small and light so it is not any inconvenience.
@@Paul_Lenard_Ewing exactly. Even the Loudpedal has more features than I'd likely use. But it's ideal as a power amp given its size and price. And it works great with my pedalboard or alternatively my HX Stomp.
no thanks, not with a 24v external PSU. I'll leave that one for brothers/sisters etc to get down with.
Mr Pete..... What a great guy.
I know and understand that the Blackstar Amped 3 unit is for electric guitar. But, I would like to see a video on using it with an acoustic guitar. Some of us use both Acoustic and Electric.
I hope to goodness they’ve improved the switching reliability. I’ve had 3 of the old HT Dual pedals and they ALL broke down within the 12 month warranty 🤯
wow!🤨
AMPED 1 is the one for the pedalboard guy or to power a MFX unit.
AMPED 2 is a Silverline for the studio. No cab and can only have one sound at a time because no presets.
AMPED 3 is the gigging Silverline without a cab because most Silverline players don't like the effects in the Silverline anyway and AMPED 3 is better than the Silverline because it has a loop that is actually usable.
I've been waiting for AMPED 3 but now that the Debut 50R has been released I'm very tempted to get two of those instead and run a wet dry stereo setup. The Debut 50R is insane value and insanely light.
Exactly ... the One has a Flat input setting and a Linear output setting for Zero coloration! Perfect for Multi-FX!!!
Blackstar make really good pedals 😮 love my dept 10 dual drive
Looks great
I think with the software, the high rolloff is necessary for the drive tones.
BluGuitar Amp 1 is similar concept but TUBE and sounds massive
Yep, sent an Amped2 back and replaced it with the BG amp1 which is increadible
@@davegale9116 : such a big difference - soundwise?
@@DizzyKrissi Yes! I hate to diss Blackstar as I’ve used their amps in the past but in my opinion the Amped2 sounds like a couple of fizzy overdrive pedals stuffed into a box with cheap effects thrown in. The BluGuitar Amp1 on the other hand sounds like four boutique valve amps with total channel control and the ability to switch between all four. Just pure glorious tone!
@@davegale9116 : thanks for your insights. I know Thomas Blug - he lives here in my town and is busy working on his amp x.
@@DizzyKrissi If you see him tell him he’s a genius😁
Ah Blues it never gets old or boring or repetitive
A nod to 'Cold Shot' in the intro.
Can u put the Chug in the loop and midi control it w your pedal board to leave the amp at home and use the house backline?
Am I the only one who is excited they added "Channels" to Amped3 but disappointed that they didn't keep the effects from Amped2?...It would have been possible to have one box to get through a gig!
My thoughts exactly!
Version 4 will have all of that and a bit more. Bit of a marketing ploy 🙂
idk I have alot of pedals and like them and most multi effects units have lackluster one dimensional effects that I dislike so I don't have alot of interest. I do wish it had a looper.
I liked their Silver series but hated the St James series, hopefully this will not disappoint in person.
I’ve been watching Andertons videos for many years . I really like the format and the honest unbiased leave it to you to decide information . Also , the Captains playing has really improved over the years ! 🎉
Unless there's a Boss Katana involved and the Captain will try hard to defend its honor
Is there an inbuilt noise-gate?
Oh goodie, a new toy. As a SS guy I appreciate this. However I just picked up for a few $100 more the 150Watt Boss Waza Amp head from a few years back.
The demos on that thing are one of the few where the tube guys don’t ever say “this sounds SS.”
The Nextone, Catalyst, and Tonemaster seem to impress them too..but those aren’t high gain monsters. Apparently the Waza has it in spades. We’ll see
🤘🏼🤘🏼
Super crunch I thought I saw a Serial a new serial at the store maybe it was Captain Crunch next to Superman cereal I just blurr DD it together
For me, the most telling comment is made by Pete starting at 8:16 . 🤔That's the issue I have with digital 'feel'.
Does the master volume affect the line out?
Does it take other overdrive pedals well, like a regular amp would?
Will it chug?? Peace ✌️
How does this compare to the amplifire?
Great playing as always! Not sold on these - they sound a little weak, lacking in depth/bottom end substance.
Can you plug these into a cabinet or do you still need a power amp?
Check the specs. They are the full thing. 100w amp on the floor in a (relatively) small stomp box. Plug direct into a cabinet the same as any other amp.
Is there any latency when switching channels?
why didn't they put a tuner in the amped 3 like they did with amped 2?
Is it me or the amped 1 has the most natural sound? With quality pedals and you're done. The amped 3 for best distortion/sag? It thought even the amped 1 for the sag...?
That selector switch is only good now for another 4,989 throws!
what do you recommend..the blackstar amp3 or de seymour duncan powerstage 200 ?
Amp 3 needs to take fuzz well and I am in.
Does this actually have tubes in it or not
How does the Headrush Prime sound when plugged into this and out to a 4x12 or FRFR.
It's probably going to sound good , same sort of tech involved , I run my Boss Multi-Effects into a Victory Preamp Pedal and out into 2 Passive Headrush FR
finally prefer my boss ms 3 switcher which reunites all three amp 123 in one tuiny convenient pedal with gt 100 built in effects and possibility of recording patches while using three of my favourite pedals (the dane and sl xotic)directly in loops, everything with my pete 59 candy apple red tele and in front of my deluxe reverb 65 reissue!!!
moreover find that amp 3 sound not that good!!
Is it worth upgrading from the amped1 to the amped3?
If you prefer to use the overdrive sounds from the Amped 3 rather than using overdrive pedals, then yes. If your OD/Distortion sounds come from pedals, no, keep the Amped 1.
So, a Blackstar Amped or Boss IR-200 as a pedal platform at home?
Either driving headphones or a small monitor..
No gigging ever.
They are very different products. With the IR-200 you still need something to drive the speaker, there is no power section. You would use the IR-200 for recording or with powered FRFR cabinets.
We need a Pete Honore Rig Rundown!
The guys were giving away their true feelings about the product on occasions and then correct themselves. Interesting
I want that guitar Pete is playing
What guitar is Pete playing?
PJD
I'm not sure what's happening with them - their UKGB offshoot (who made Chapman UK range, Seth Baccus, Cream T) just went bust.
weird in a box that size to not have a built in tuner. Feels like each model is missing something vital.
Are you covering the new blackstar 50 watt combo amp?
Already done it!
To some people £100 is a lot of money, so if they only need what Amped 1 has and nothing extra, why would you pay more for Amped 3. But I agree, for my money I'd get a 3 if I were in the market for something like this.
Does the power switch work from 1-20-100 watt from the XLR out?
No - it just controls the actual amp in the pedal
If it gets too complicated I'll just eat a box of Lucky Charms and I'll become real Charming if I'm lucky
(Slaps hands together) "It chugs!"
The Capt. and Danish Pete are much better team than former times.
The clean preset color is white. Shouldn’t it be red ?
Waiting for the katana version of this 😂
...The amped 2 literally came out 3 months ago this is wild lol.
That's why they tried to explain that one of these does not replace the other- they're a line of pedal board amps and they're all different. They're trying to give ppl options.
@@stoneysdead689 Yeah, I saw that after posting the comment.
@@trevor4533 It is confusing because of the way they try to roll each one out on a separate date- trying to make sure each unit gets all the hype it possibly can. I was thinking the same thing until they explained it.
If Marshall Came out with one of these wonder how people would react to it.
Maybe a different to how you might expect, after 'Zound Industries' , a Swedish co., bought Marshall last week!
Wow multiple people talking about this unit in the same day! What a coincidence!
I'm not sure if it's a joke, but that's because they gave the units out to CZcamsrs early and they all agreed to not say anything about the unit until 4/4. Then today hits, and like 20 CZcamsrs release the video.
There's a name for it, I just cannot for the life of me remember what it's called. It's almost like a non-disclosure agreement.
Press embargo
This is the norm. - it just got released, they give gear to "influencers" ahead of release time, give them a date, and tell them to not release their video until that day- and since every reviewer wants to be first- they all get their videos made and are waiting on release day.
And in 6 months nobody will talk about it anymore.
I just got the Blackstar Amped 2 and to be honest, it doesn't sound so good as Peter is trying to say. Blackstar has many pedals with a tube inside, don't know what made them think on putting a POD and a 100W transistor power amp...
Also the MIDI, you can't access the patches, just change parameters by parameters...
I have the BluGuitar Amp1 and on sound it beats it. A guitar amp, at least to play clean to crunch to distortion it has to be analog. If you play Nu metal or Jazz a digital amp like this will work, I guess.
Agreed. I bought the 3 and it was very dark. I had the ISF full on the uk, treble all the way up and it was only just ok for me. Plus I had to boost it with a SD 1 for metal, the internal boost wasn’t great.
Returned it for the amped 1 and it’s way better. It will do lower gain rock on its own but for metal I have it clean with a boosted friedman be od
@@Benjohns89 I sold mine in few days, not for me
@@kenzachow yep, it’s a shame. Could have been really good. I’m just a bedroom player so I use the amped 1 as a pedal platform. It does do a pretty decent rock tone with a boost in front though
Did Blackstar purchase the Line6 Spider1 algorithm? While the playing was excellent as ALWAYS, I couldn't get past what sounded like a hornet and a bee in a shoe box. No real gain push, just digital clipping and thin distortion to my ears. Again, great playing from both of you!! This isn't my cup of tea tone wise.
I tend to agree, it didn’t sound good here.
don't make a decision on this youtube tone. Plug into one in real life with a cab, and dial in something hot. You'll be surprised. These amped products have changed up my rig for the better in the last months.
@@jazzspecialist99 I have a lot of low end in my preferred tone. The only time I thin it out (highpass) is when I solo. If I highpass my tone more aggressively, I can achieve the same tone as this Amped 3.
yeah, i was thinking the same. used to better tones
Same here, just has no depth.
The market is so flooded with crap while it's cool in a way its overwhelming and stagnant in another
Ahhh but this is so frustrating! ….Blackstar clearly have the capability to make it so you can save a preset easily on this version but not on the Amped 2 which has the bloody effects!
So I can’t just dial up a sound and switch with one button for a minimal rig…
And I know the answer is you use a midi foot switch but that only controls the amp settings not the effects!!!
So I think ok, just use the Amped 3 and have it control a small effects bank like the plethora but the midi is in or thru only, no send!!!!
Ahhhhh lord how you temp and frustrate me Blackstar!
Please issue an update to the Amped 2 with this preset save function (including effects) and I will give you everything, my money, my first born and my soul!
Epic
...Amped 2 will need at least one pedal, too >>> Boost ;-)
Black star 4 THE SAG😊🤣👍🏿
wish it had a delay.
Amp 1 with a Pedal Board is the way to go. The high gain and crunch overdrive sounds all sound generic so a waste of time. With this type of amp pedal you always keep it on the same setting that's your favourite and the rest become redundant so what's the point.
Bluguitar!
Stoner Boomer Doom
Brian Adams?! lol
Channel/effect switching?!?!?
Turn ISF to the right and you will be sound more warm and huge, whitout ugly highs and mids...
This is just a Blackstar TVP in a pedal isn't it? Same 6 voicings, same switchable "tubes".
I had the same feeling. That TVP circuit never sounded right to me from when it first arrived in their cheaper combos.
The amp pedal is great and all, but how about that beautiful guitar Danish Pete is playing! I would like to know!
That sub counter ain't moving and this is a good reason why. Please, for the love of Pete, get a metal guy to demo metal pedals with a metal guitar.
I guess you can’t be everything for everyone always.
Yeah where's Rob Chapman
Not my taste, but cool product for people that like that sort of thing.
Kinda hard to listen to Pete playing such a cool P90 HB guitar through something that sounds so thin and cheesy. I know that guitar can be fat as hell in his hands through something better.
That opening did not sound like metal at all.
so you're saying they're versatile?
It's Post-Metal.
@James Amos no! It's suppose to be a metal pedal and the first song they played was for from metal
@@witchdoktor69 if it's supposed to be a metal pedal (not how Blackstar word it) but it can play other tones and styles, how exactly does that make it not versatile?
@@jimmywellroks no shit! didn't say it wasn't. They advertise on the thumbnail that it is a metal rig in a box. Shouldn't the first song be metal? Yes!
I would love to see an Amped 3 that already has the presets with the effects and....I am DONE.
Good concept but...
Get rid of DP….Danish Pete makes any gear sound good 😂
No solid body humbucker equipped guitar for a amp/pedal that specializes in heavier music? C'monnnn guyyyyys. I'd gladly fly to England and demo some amateur heavy metal riffs. Just give me the ok, and I'll book the flight! ;)
I´m sure there is a tone in there somewhere, I guess not today. Not loving the cleans, the crunch sounds like an angry bee! Not going to stick around for the OD sorry.
How many guitarists does it take to do a gear review?
14,002
Two to actually do it and 14,000 to bitch and moan about how they'll never buy one cos their JTM45 / Boogie / Rockman / Telephone Exchange / Hearing Aid sounds better.
How has changed the world since the 90's... In the 90's solid state = sh** and all the people wanted valve amps... Nowadays solid state = amazing?... 😊
harsh and too bright - anyway not that bad ;)
Sounds like a box of wasps….
😂😂😂
That cracked me up.
Not least because I describe those kinds of sounds as 'like a biscuit tin full of wasps'
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love you guys, BUT I really think you have not understood this product- please redo this demo with your full pedalboards plugged in ( 4 cable method), and using three sounds fender clean, vox crunch and Marshall lead. That is the demo!!
First ❤
