Recorded just before I joined the band, I remember listening to the warm tone of Micky Dabbs and then months later having to sit next to him in the band I was in awe. He taught me so much about phrasing - oh, and how to talk proper English - Yorkshire like. If tha knows, tha knows lad.
Some lovely Euphonium from Derek "Yorkie' Greenwood on the march Militare and Chant San Paroles .The Bluebird has some fabulous clarinet John Appleby and Kevin Jackson sadly Kev was taken far too soon a lovely guy and extremely talented musician RIP.
Thanks Ross,This was never released on cd.This also has Micky Dabbs playing the trombone solo None but the Weary Heart ,what a superb sound and phrasing .Some remarkable playing from the Peter Parkes era Grenadier Guards Band.Enjoy
