I love that you said you read graphic novels to help you not go in a reading slump because I do the same thing. I enjoy these type of videos because it shows that most book readers just want to talk about books. I didn't mind Divine Rivals what I enjoyed more was Rebecca Ross's writing style that it as encouraged me to pick up more of her books. Some of my favorite books would have to be the Shadow Fall series because it gave me the same vibes as Twilight but in a summer camp setting, the Shadowhunter series, Harry Potter series, and enjoying Ashley Poston's books.

Divine Rivals *probably* doesn't have enough dialogue for you, but I would also take into consideration that they do write letters to each other, which is meant to be conversational? So if you count that, it might inch you into the territory of being okay with the dialogue balance. The writing style is beautiful, though, in a way I feel like you'd appreciate? And the characters are chef's kiss. I loved this book, but my only caution to you is this: the book ends on a cliffhanger, and if you like the book enough to want to know what happens to the characters, you're signing yourself up for reading Ruthless Vows as well.

After some research, I've started reading Beverly Jenkins books. I started with the Old West series, and to my surprise, I am eating it up! The history is not too overbearing, as it adds to the plot/setting. And the romance is giving lol 🥰

Hey Shawnacie 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾. Divine Rivals was just "ok" to me. Powerless was a very good book. It broke my reading slump. I am currently reading Where Sleeping Girls Lie my Faridah Abike-Iyimide. Girl attends a boarding school after living a rather reclusive life. Second day, her roomate disappears. She knows something is wrong and starts putting clues together with the help of her roomates bestie. All are rich, some more down to earth. She busts open a big mystery that has plagued the school for years. Really good thriller with black-brown characters.

I do love book hauls ofcourse lol but if you ever do get more cute clothing, I would love to know where you get them. Instead of saying hello nicely and being the bigger person, I walked away from them and went to someone else more willing. I could have changed that person’s day around instead of be upset.

I just finished Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows and I loved them! I was worried it would be too wordy as well but it wasn’t. I honestly think you would love their love story. Plus, it’s on KU if you want to try a few chapters first before buying.

My absolute favorite book is The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams - Any chance I get I recommend this book. It truly made me a consistent reader and inspired me to visit my local library even more than before. It's a book about books but it is way more than that. It touches on family, friendship, communication, taking chances, new beginnings, the connection of reading and how a book can bring strangers together....it's AMAZING!!! I love it so much, and it holds such a special place in my heart. Okay, I'm done rambling. Lol

My dad grew up in central Illinois and mom grew up in St Louis. I've flown into the Springfield airport to visit family and was so surprised how parking was free. That's been a long time so maybe it's not free now. My parents live in Florida now but his company is headquartered in Springfield so they fly up there for meetings quite often.
The airport parking lot is still free! It’s so easy! You can just walk right in 🥰🥰

Some of my all time favorite books are Elatsoe by Darcy Little Badger (YA urban(?) fantasy that dies nit follow a lot of the tropes of the YA books) and Madison Square Murders by C.S. Poe (a detective mystery with an Mc the is neurodivergent and is queer).

The Timeless series by author Gabrielle Meyer is fire! If you want to give historical romance a try that includes dual timelines THIS is the series to start with. I will forever recommend When the Day Comes, which is book one. Even my husband is hooked on the series now. The MC was born a time hopper and lives in different years. On her 21st birthday she must decide which path she wants to live in forever and forfeit the other. It is such a wild ride! Incredible writing and book two gets even more exciting with a triple timeline! ❤🔥Book three is releasing next month and I literally can't wait!

Cemetery Boys (by Aiden Thomas) is my favorite book. It's a YA fantasy realism with a romance subplot and it's trans and queer. I also love Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, but the rest of that fantasy/scifi series gets a little nuts so some people don't get past the first book. I have, but the first one is my favorite

Shawnaci I think you should read and will really enjoy "The Upside of Falling" by Alex Light. It was the book that got me into reading a year ago and It will FOREVER be a five star for me. Its young adult and the Romance is deep...I wasn't sure about reading it because it was originally a Wattpad story but I'm happy I caved.
