I was lucky to see him one time ,when he was playing for Stutgart, , more than 12 years ago , all I remember he was a best player on the pitch on that day , he was running the show , great football player , to watch this guy going forward in full speed was something , he was explosive ... my friend Jimmy ,who is english ,was sitting next to me and ask me ,Who is that player N10 ? I said ,that is a great bulgarian player Balakov ....

best bulgarian player ever was Georgi Asparuhov - Gundi. Unfortunately he never played outside Bulgaria due to communist restrictions, although he was wanted by Milan amongst many other clubs.

+Tiago Ruão Stoichkov might be stronger and has made more goals but Balakov is pure technique and explosion.

Balakov in my opinion should have stayed in the Bulgarian national team until his late 40's. He is irreplaceable.
