I remember watching Vegeta get eliminated. The whole world was rooting for him. My favorite character
Some background information: Bulma's Japanese voice actor passed away about 3 months before this original (and sub) episode aired. The part where Vegeta had a vision of Bulma was the cast/studio's way of paying homage to her.
The character development for Vegeta is insane since DBZ, from a cruel man destroying worlds, to a protective husband trying to save the universe

A villain wouldn't do any of these things.

Before future Trunk’s first trip to the past, he questions if having Goku survive the heart virus will really make a difference against the androids, with future Bulma responding, “Oh yes, he can make a difference alright. But it’s not just how strong he is Trunks. Goku has this incredible feeling about him. When your with him, you just know everything is going to be fine, and it always is.” Honestly, one of my favorite, heart-warming scenes in all of dragon ball.

I didn't think Jiren was messing with them, it could be that since Vegeta & Goku are so weakened one strong attack from Jiren could easily kill them. Remember, Jiren is the last one on his team so it's in his best interest not to get eliminated from using lethal force. It could also be that Jiren pities them and doesn't want to end it with one attack since they fought so hard to save their universe and they will ease to exist because of him. Jiren is not a villain, he still has a sense of morality.
The last 3 episodes should be day after day
Ngl, this whole episode with Vegeta had me in tears, in a good way. He’s been my favorite since he was introduced and seeing him give everything he has in this episode, pushing himself to keep getting back up, the amount of resilience and inner fortitude he displays, hits me to the core and puts me in tears. He has had the most amazing character development of anybody in Dragonball and I absolutely love him. 💯
I remember watching these episodes week by week waiting to see how it would end. This episode was like THE episode everyone watching rooted for Vegeta the hardest, and when UI cameup at the end, everyone was collectively ready to see Goku beat Jiren. Shit was so hype

Vegeta using most of his power to take out God Toppo was so clutch for Universe 7 because it saved Frieza and 17 from being eliminated to give Universe 7 the numbers advantage. Vegeta's motivation speeches are always the best.

Jiren is sadistic in a way. He doesn't want his enemies to just lose, he wants them to lose hope and give up. So he just pummels them until they realize his power is unstoppable and have the same realization he did as a child.
The more I watch these last few episodes, the more I have a hard time believing this is all supposed to be happening in a matter of 4 minutes.😂

Vegeta is always a Hero to me, the best character with the best lines and the best development!!
Vegeta is the best character in all of Dragon Ball. He is given so much opportunity to develop and explore the complexity of who he is. This his why his final stand against Jiren is so much more emotional that anything we get with adult Goku. Vegeta is a far superior character from a story telling perspective. TOP really gives him amazing moments to shine.

I love that when Vegeta settled down and he and Goku started training together it brought out the natural Saiyan in Goku but his character never changed.

I will be very honest i didn't cried or even sad for vegeta sacrifice in majin buu saga he went out like a completely badass but i really shed a tear for vegeta elimination in TOP When Vegeta cried i cried too
Goku going SSJ after Freeze blows Krillin up will always be #1 to me and most of us that watched it when it first came out. You young kids will never understand that feeling of sitting on the sofa before school watching CheezeTV every day, some fights lasting multiple days in 30minute episodes and finally getting that payoff. I enjoy UI and these episodes are great but nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

Oh yea, this episode hit pretty hard for me.. Watching Vegeta stand proud as he did was inspirational. It helped motivate Goku even more, seeing that now he has to fight for everyone and everything!

One of the small details I love in this episode is when Vegeta struggling to concentrate until Bulma says you can win this, I know it, and his eye becomes focused and determined again.
This is why i stopped watching dragon ball a long time ago bcoz they never treat vegeta(the best character arc of all the whole anime) with respect and make goku the strongest who is a clown whereas vegeta is the real deal the most hardworking man.
Stop trash talking Goku, vegeta fanboy. Goku is the sole reason vegeta is the guy who he is now, don't act like vegeta was a good guy before meeting Goku, he was a murderer. Vegeta WAS the real clown and now he is better and thanks to Goatku.

The only difference is Goku was raised by good human beings while Vegeta was by his dad who was psychotic and still he came a long way and have always been the hardest worker in the room and still they want to make Goku the strongest just bcoz they want it to...... That is the problem with most anime characters be it Goku or luffy or many others
It's wild to me that, if Goku and Vegeta channeled their energy more efficiently, they could have (mostly) kept up with Jiren. He looks like he's an indomitable force in the ToP, but he's really not that far removed from Goku and Vegeta

You were not alone in wanting Vegeta to have more of an impact in eliminating Jiren. Though he showed great power, endurance and battle knowledge, in the end they wanted to showcase ultra instinct. Unfortunately, after this episode, I stopped watching Super and found out what happened months later in the ToP.
The funny thing is that 17 or 18 can spare literally limitless power to give to others, it's so broken yet they only use that once?
