"I wanna have a clean slate by the time the album comes out" why don't more artists understand this? we don't like hearing previously released songs on "brand new" albums.
from their perspective the old songs that have been received/streamed well will help their album’s credibility and round it out. especially to anyone getting into that artist for the first time. i hear you and agree to an extent but the artist’s/labels have a purpose for doing that
