  • In this video, you will learn the 50 most common beginner yoga poses. I tried my best to narrow it down to 50 poses, but in reality, there are many more beginner-friendly poses you might see in classes. This video doesn’t include possible modifications and variations of the poses and the use of props, only the basic most standard form of the pose.
    NOTE: this video is just for demonstration, not for practice. You don't need to practice these poses in this particular order or hold them for a number of breaths. This video is just to help you remember the names of the poses.

    Thank you so much!! This is so incredibly helpful. I’m 57yo woman who has never really intentionally exercised before and have started going to a local gym to do a class that is a Yoga and Pilates blended class but it’s all done to loud music and when the instructor does bother to name the poses I can’t hear what they’re saying. So again thank you for this.
    I have just subscribed to you and I’m off now to check out the rest of your videos

    Thank you so much. I am very nearsighted. It’s awkward to do yoga with glasses on. It’s going to be easier for me now know what those poses look like because some instructor just call them by now without telling you how to do it.

      It's really up to you
      Usually you wanna take atleast 3- 4 nice deep breaths in a pose when you are doing a yin/restorative practice to feel the stretch
      In a more uptempo hatha practice, you are in a vinyasa flow so a breath or two in one asana is enough
      :)

      This video is really just for reference, to make it easier to remember the pose names. How long to hold them will depend on the style of yoga, can be anywhere from 1-2 breaths to 2-3 minutes)

      better to follow some guided practice - there are lots of them on CZcams)
