- The new champion Aurora has been teased and is scheduled for release soon so as per usual with any new champion, I'll be giving my first impressions on her kit. She might be the most annoying champion I've seen in a long time.... who's surprisingly fairly designed.

MY favorite part about Aurora has to be the amount of cooking that has been happening with people trying to figure out the right builds. She can build bursty with stuff like Luden's, can take AP bruiser items like RoA and Liandry's, and all the while having a kit that supports Lich Bane and/or Nashor's Tooth as reasonable purchases.
I fear for her numbers cause riot games, but she's actually a really cool mage design. Feels almost like a mage/skirmisher hybrid as opposed to battle mages generally leaning more towards mage/juggernaut.
I bet she can build full adc
@@cynt4416I fully intend to main her in any lane. Fully happy to do classic crit, except maybe on hit focus for Nashors access.

lillia eep, as lillia main, in addition to 10 others, I will say there is nothing more enjoyable than running in circles around your opponent at 140%+ move speed and healing a lot with 30% max hp dmg ever 3 second, then you put them to sleep and then wake them up by hitting them on the head (using w ) with 1400+ damage and they cannot do anything, a feeling that I will never forget

Yes❤
@@OmarAhme-w3h ever since people started building her full dmg it has been really fun to oneshot her out of nowhere too
I think that even though Aurora has 2 damaging abilities, her Q has a very high damage ceiling. Her Q can only hit once on the initial cast, but if you hit an ADC point blank with her Q while also having a bunch of enemies behind them and then recast, you have the potential to absolutely melt health bars with all the repeated hits from her returning Q and passive. I think that's where the true power of her ult lies. If you can land a Q on a bunch of enemies, how can you use your ult to reposition so that you're hitting a squishy target for massive damage?
well yes but usually adc is behind the frontline. unless you are flanking, the situation should happen rather rare
@@alexandrubucurica1709Should, but this is league, only three things can happen
-They have no frontline in the first place
-The frontline is splitting
-The adc gets caught out
@@alexandrubucurica1709 Which is where Aurora's ult comes in. If you put down her ult and warp to the back lines to flank and kill the ADC, then you can use her W to slip out of immediate danger.

as someone who mains control mages (Ryze, cassio, anivia, lissandra, and vlad), she does not feel like a control/battle mage. maybe it's just me, but I feel like having tons of invisibility and mobility takes away from the power budget of doing DPS and having sustainability, which are the two most important parts of a battle mage, with cc coming in if they don't have as much DPS. invisibility and multiple dashes are very weird for a battle/control mage and it will lead to poor balancing.
My fear is she's going to be more like Akali once people figure out the combo. Which ultimately means that on paper she's going to be balanced, but in the hands of someone who's brain just works that way she will absolutely 1v5 after 2 items.
Well, she's not a control mage. That's a hardly defined category as it is, and not one of Riot's own. She's definitely a battle mage - her focus is sustained combat, focuses on magic damage, and has healing in her kit. She is likely intended to build hp and ap, and she's probably gonna be a good RoA+Lyandri's+Riftmaker user. Her lack of CC is made up for in movement, which is not the worst thing ever
vlad a control mage??
Just btw I use control and battle pretty synonymously when referring to this type of mage.
@@FrostRend25 the way I see it is: Battlemage: Vlad, Cassio, Anivia, Lillia, Ryze, Viktor... In essence, low range and low cd abilities with ways to kite
Whereas Control mages would be: Orianna, Syndra, Anivia, Azir (kinda), Lux (kinda), Hwei, Seraphine, Ziggs (kinda). The main reason why riot does not consider this one of the main sub-divisions of mages is mostly due to overlap with other classes, as some of these are already battlemages or even poke champs, however, I believe people tend to use the Control mage tag on champions that are really good at map control, choke points and zoning enemies off. They urge enemies to make a decision whether to continue foreward or look for another angle, as no one wants to go through an Ori ball, anivia ult/wall, lux E, Ziggs W/E, Hwei E+w and Q+E etc.
I would much rather have this then another vladmir or extremely high speed mobility assassin like leblanc or ahri.
Shes an AP skirmisher, like Lillia.
She have as much mobility than Akali
@@dylanhelvetios2300 she has a bit of movement speed from her passive, one short dash that resets upon a takedown and an E that pushes her back a bit, then her ult lets her teleport back and forth in a zone for a short period of time, if that's the same mobility as the champion with 4 dashes (3 of them being pretty long range) to you I don't know what to tell you
Fuck no, not another Lillia. I would take S3 Kass over that
@@Klaas_F0XI thought i was the only one who hates Lillia.
@@munchiemunchie5226 also hate Lilia but I find that her sleep is the real thing that makes me dislike her, since aurora seems to have nothing similar to it, I don't think she'll be able to reach anywhere near the same level of "You can't hit me but I can stop you from playing the game" that lillia often has when ahead

I think Aurora is gonna be one of those underestimated champs. She’s gonna be fairly weak early, but after a couple items, she’s gonna come online and during a teamfight, will proceed to 1v3. Another thing not touched on much is that attacks also count for her passive, which along with the bonus ms from her passive, her w dash/invis/ms, and her e self-knockback kiting, will be able to keep that online for quite a while unless expressly targeted by an assassin. She has potential but will also take quite a bit to learn her combos and how to properly keep her uptime consistent.
Video idea: What makes a champion 'good'?. Somethings make a champion bad (Tryndamir R), some champions are strong (Lux i think), but what is a good champion? (love the vids, keep it up
You should make the vid! Be the change you wanna see
I think "good" is very broad. You should ask "what makes a champion timeless", basically they are so perfectly designed and balanced that their numbers are rarely touched or altered. I can think of Anivia and Zilean on the top of my head.
@@cloudynguyen6527 I would say Zoe, the only change I know about is that they cant yoink your balloons anymore when you are around.
Anything that can Perform no matter how the numbers are. Gragas for example sloppywarus has been playing him for a while now and you can clearly see that
1: It can outplay as a champion
2:It can "carry" or actually work despite its nature as a champion. Etc. One of many examples of "you can play me if you're skilled enough"
@@aspookyscaryskeleton5238 Gragas is exactly the wrong example. That dude always turns up to dominate a meta for a while before catching weak nerfs that push him down to just top 5 flex picks before catching more nerfs and never being played again until he gets random bullshit buffs that brings us back to dominating a meta.
Gragas has been a balance nightmare in all forms. Look at the gargantuan patch note history he has, his numbers are consistently what differs from his extremely strong kit being playable.
What I like most about Aurora is how her kit is really lending itself to build variety. You can choose to go full burst, on hit attack speed, or damage over time with her, and I think it's actually quite wonderful in that regard since you got build and playstyle variety with her. Fighting against a mage with the same range as her? Any of those 3 play styles could work. Against a champion with a lot of dashes? Well if you are not feeling confident in your skill shots then go either damage over time or better yet AS on hit. Fighting against someone with more range than you? Go damage over time to wittle their hp down. It's really nice and refreshing to see a champion that allows you to experiment and not pidgeonhole itself into a niche.
I'm about to play this champ like a ranged Gwen, tbh. That three hit auto is begging for nashor's and riftmaker
great vid, i love how you break down different classes and their sub-roles in the game, teaching people this is iimportant.

aurora looks fanmade and not in a good way :/ janky and unsatisfying animations
speaking only about her visuals she looks like a genshin impact character :c
Her design is so needlessly over-sexualized and it pisses me off. Give me the cute researcher in a giant fluffy coat! You know, because she lives in the FRELJORD? Not this ‘ayo John, we gotta update the splash art to make her tits and thighs bigger than her waist’.
I mean, her animations are acceptable in standard and are fine. But her particle effects feel soo underwhelming, specifically her passive one and her recall. Plus her auto attack projectile literally looks like it pops out of her chest, instead of her wand.
I mean it’s hard animating with one hand
@@legitplayin6977 What mouses do people use two hands for 😭
I fear for a tank echo sort of deal here, also happened with Neeko that the on hit build was really good, I can see how she can build nashors and then full tank and just proc the passive over and over to be annoying and deal Max health damage which will keep her relevant always
"smolder just needed to be fine tuned" the champ is almost unplayable and playrate has plummeted, how is this fine tuning? Keeping champions intentionally weak does not mean good game design, by that logic, yuumi is fine because she isnt permad in pro play when she is also unplayable.
??? How is yuumi unplayable?? Is it cause you can’t build heal on her and be reliable, or cause you refuse to build into what her kit now focused on?
@@thejestor9378 because any act of playing yuumi directly harms your teams chances of winning in a severe and notable way. If you think i am overstating it, feel free to watch phreaks video from last year after the rework where they openly stated that they will keep yuumi in a terrible state so she does not become a problem. I suppose you can take the literal meaning of unplayable and say that anything that does not break the game(ie bugged release viego or poppy exploit) is still playable, but i am going with a more colloquial definition where unplayable means serving as a significant detriment to ones team compared to all alternatives.
@@csgotrainingbot2160 Yeah, sounds like people who refused to build into her new kit.
@@thejestor9378 well apparently that includes every single pro play team as yuumi has gone from a 20% presence with over 1500 games of pick or ban to .3% totaling 18 games pick or ban with a 20% winrate, so you are welcome to explain to me how yuumi is a viable champion this year.
Those two deserved it ❤
She has 150% scaling and an execute on her Q. She's not a battle mage, she's a burst mage disguised as an ap skirmisher.
if aurora will go on hit wont this make her same as zeri on release? stacking ms with 3 sec duration is enough to refreshed it with other iteams
Are you planning on making any videos on toxic heart steel meta, and metas in general? Like katarina having everything viable on her, or tank diana
i can't wait to see if i can stun aurora with fiora by using slide parrying into the wall like with veigar cage or cait trap, it would be a neat little interraction (super hard to land though given her mobility in ult, the size of fiora w hitbox and the fact that she has .75 seconds to get out
Aurora 5 man ults your team, you turn to kill her, she uses zhonya, her team jumps you, now you gotta flash/blink/tp out her ult or die🤷
On that note ryze seems to be a good matchup against her, has point click cc so her movement is hindered and if he predicts she’s gonna ult his team he can use r since it’s a tp
She could Zhonya’s similar to Ori/Liss, playmaking midlaner
her ult is like a wide-range orianna ult, forcing enemies to group up
combo with fiddlesticks or anivia could go wild
You literally described fiddle
Her insane combo is gonna be marking as many people as possible, ulting them, and using the teleport to line up the big hit. I think she will be fairly high skill cap
0:22 By uncontrollable playstyle, he means Briar was able to attack and kill allies
Im gonna be honest the new champ designs being overturned and not overloaded makes me a bit sad. They should get more creative with their designs, don't give hybrid, true, cc, damage, etc. Just do some unique stuff we haven't seen before, crazy mechanics and gimmicky characters. So many statchecks and auto attackers :(
So like aurelion sol with his orbiting star mechanic that rewards good positioning. It was really fun , unfortunetly pepole don't want to learn a unique playstyle for a champion and would rather get a duble kill by holding q.
@bonic7217 I would say a new cc then, but people don't much like Renata or Rell, so I have no idea.
@@LegionOfDefiance420 we'd like rell if she was a toplaner LIKE SHE'S OBVIOUSLY MEANT TO BE instead of being stuck in support.

@@AlexanderMartinez-kd7cz You have a point, I would love to lock in Rell against Malphite and just beat the rock at his own game.
League champs were at their most creative during beta when most of them were blatant ripoffs of dots heroes. And then overtime riot realized it doesn’t have what it takes to balance unique and diverse kits. So everything became bland and uninspired for the sake of making the game easier to balance.
very fitting maplestory bgm
If they combined this champion with something similar to Diana for a go in and out melee spell sword I would fall in love with league again
As someone who has mained Ahri, Xayah and Lillia. This champ was made for me!
I personally find no problem with Aurora getting invisibility. You say it's basically duskblade, but the reason that was a problematic item was because it was just that. An item that could be purchased by anyone.
Aurora's invis is moreso about getting away or buying time. Not so much ambush and surprise. You essentially use it to get a more advantageous position when you otherwise wouldn't get anything.
Overall I think Aurora is a good champ design and a very neat idea for a battle mage. When was the last time we got a caster that could build lich bane and nashors tooth?
Duskblade was also instant. Aurora needs to wait for her hop animation to go invisible and then you also get to see where she landed
@@dresean3725 Agree, the "get to see where she land" is the best part of this. A fair counterplay perk.
It give her a good tool for survival and positioning without being too powerful.
aurora's design making me feel ways...if you catch my drift

She's mid, weeb
So don't get under her skin
Yeah, she was made to appeal to the broadest audience of coomers imaginable, her design isn't unique at all.

HEAR ME OUT, GUYS
Aurora punishes grouping together and assuming that you get away with it.
Smolder wasnt really an issue until riot buffer his numbers to high heaven and destroyed half of a pro season, and I expect Aurora to be the same. Shes going to be doing twice of vaynes damage and have twice the mobility before Riot had enough skin sales and gut her
As a Gnar main, I find it interesting the way you described the playstyle of some champions as being annoying because they encourage a playstyle without much interaction like Hit and Run, Since Gnar is a considerably old champion, I would like to know how you would think about a Rework for him for a more interactive gameplay.
Ngl shes given me lillia vibes and since I started maining her near the start or the season Im super excited to force Aurora into the jungle :D. I think she feels more AP fightery than pure battlemage since her passive really incetivises always be going in and hitting someone and she has a ton of shot range dashes perfect for dodging skillshots up close.
the question is for me: can she flash out of her own ult and leave it up?
12:34 Vars casually plugging his 3rd channel
Mr. Woof mentioned!
I feel like she'll be more of a marksmage and she'll be played with pta and nashor's tooth because of the stacking on autos
A new Clowns video: 13:42 minutes of "Gobble Gobble Riot Gobble Gobble".
She seems simple and generally pretty balanced. People lose their minds over her ultimate, but it does so little for herself besides just being a survivability tool, that I don't think her base kit has enough damage to be a threat. She just feels like a battle mage that focuses on survivability more than anything else by just staying invisible to wait for her cooldowns.
She reminds me of a teemo kind of play style where she is very hit and run and annoying. I could totally see her building grasp and zoning in lane, capitalizing on people's mistakes... Especially with the ultimate.
I think youre maybe underestimating her ulti a bit as a tool to get to the backline (r -> w backwards -> blow up squishies). But she doesnt seem too unfair imo
she would be perfect in a support role where she can slow, secure kills from stealth, build up huge passive stacks, and trap the adc support in her ult
So far it looks like on-hit att speed Aurora is pretty strong. We'll see if Rito is gonna shut that down or if they'll allow her to have multiple playstyles.
The numbers on Aurora are looking crazy. Max HP percentage based damage is insanely strong.
its magic dmg so in practice it doesnt do as much as it says even champ base mr reduces it by alot.
Just a quick reminder, Sylas's kit was meant for Aurora, yea it could have been worse for all of us
You missed that she is an AP Vayne. Shr wukk be going Nashor into Guinsoo
Top Laner: "Wehh a ranged champ"
It's a full-on "200 years" moment.
You're kidding yourself, otherwise you're genuinely ignorant.
Yeah the vibe I get is more just annoying but not overbearing. Though the thing about her ult has me...concerned since it's more just a movement or escape tool. Not OP though, might still play her just because I like the character and design.
I personally like evasive types but then again that's what I play in fighting games. Axl is my main in GG so nuff said.
Aurora is very safe laner, getting ganked? W. bad trade? you have sustain on passive. And in top lane she's also ranged, so poke galore. She's like a less annoying/powerful Vladimir or Akali
As a leblanc main ive been waiting for a long time to main another. Aurora could be it
I think her passive stacks only for movement speed and not for the healing
Fuck hypermobility, it makes it impossible to balance, because either the hyper mobile champion is overpowered or doesn't do damage and non hyper mobile champions need even more raw damage to compensate for the lacking mobility, especially when the damage i on a skill shot, and while hyper mobile champions can dodge skill shots so the high damage isn't that noticeable, immobile champions can't so you need to give them tank stats, that's why mages who are often immobile have 3.5k+ hp to make up for the lack of mobility.
I have the feeling after no seeing the r ability she is an ap assassin. And maybe she becomes the new Eve?
The invisibility feels completely uncalled for.
She remembers me ryze, jumping insted of walking
balanced or not, i want our fluffy coat aurora back :(
Anyone knows the first background theme's name?
I think they're tipping their hand again about stealth. Her stealth isn't meant to trick you much, just give ambiguity for landing skill shots and complete immunity to anything on target, plus an ekko sylus mini dash. And in a game where a 2 second stun means death, 2 seconds of immunity matters alot.
The rest of her kit is inoffensive. Her ult is a slightly bigger Veigar E with damage on it. Her Q is an ahri xayah q, fitting of them all being vastaha I suppose. She has a small xereth Q with a caitlyn push back. The stacking movespeed is questionable, being a mix of zeri and lillia, but the slower stack speed and more strict uptime requirement seems like a good counter weight.
I know I'ma have fun with her kit. Long fights with lots of evasion is my comfort zone. But I don't see her blowing up the game in any major way. She's not Ryze busted, just mild and inoffensive
As someone who primarily plays the "big stupid short range in your face" characters in games I think being anti-zoner and alternative playstyles in general is extremely childish. Don't get me wrong, I was 14 once too. At the time I believed the only honorable way to fight was for two characters to just hit each other in close range until someone won. Then I challenged myself to see things from the other side. I learned to play the zoners in Smash and I became the Vayne top. What I realized is A) I still prefer playing Roy and going where I please B) Zoning well actually takes skill. It's a whole different mindset. In most cases, once the guy with the sword gets in you just lose. Champions like Vayne operate in a different space from zoners, and while I understand the frustration other top lanners feel when facing a Vayne. But when the deck is stacked so far in one favor the answer is to simply not engage. Even down 20 CS, most top lanners will be more useful in a team fight than a 0/0/0 Vayne. On the flip side, if Vayne makes one mistake it can completely take the Vayne player out of the game. Yes, there will be cases where you do everything right. You completely neutralize the lane and come into the team fight down 30 CS but ready to scrap... And the Vayne randomly gets a qudra kill and you feel like you wasted 15 minutes of your life. But that's just the nature of the game. All you can do is play what you're dealt. The time you waste complaining about your hand is time better spent trying to figure out how to use your cards to win... So yeah, that's what I thought about all the anti-kiting propaganda in this video.
i appreciate hit and run style over braindead stand there and tank while you regen without any skill so ill try her out
you only need aurora's passive, q and r and you can fill the entire video's screen with text
Bad design. She's gonna get abused toplane i can just fucking bet it. I HATE RANGE.
I feel like her area of effect is probably the smallest among battle mages, since other than her ult, her skill shots are kind of narrow
Cool. Now I'll bring her to the top lane because she looks fun to play there. She has enough regen and evasiveness to match fighters up there. Saying this as a Yorick main.
finally a champ that looks like me
i feel like she doesn't even correctly fit the battle mage archetype all that well, more of like a lane Lillia with conditional movespeed and healing if ur constantly hitting champs and using that movespeed to out maneuver skillshots
i had thought that playing against her would be miserable and was waiting to experience it myself
i can now confirm that it is indeed miserable
200 years for sure
I think she's one of those champs that will be op in the right situation/meta but can easily and quickly be fixed by losing some numbers

Three abilities can dash. Aurora and Akali probably similar gameplay pattern and counterplay
2 dashes + R, invis, 2 or 3 slows. absurd self healing, % max hp damage.
I see absolutely nothing that could go wrong here.

She might become the first true AP marksman.
For me at least, she is like a reinvent of Teemo, and I love it. We need more ap champs base on at, but not like ekko or Katarina, like real champs base on basics and not like deleting everything bc u have a fucking on hit champ with ridiculous numbers. I like her. I know that she will never be a meta champ, she’s made for psyched ones
Jhin: needs a crit to get some movement speed.

She seems like Lillia with a machine gun
i think the concept of Q is intresting. what i dont like about it, its that when you hit Q. you always hit Q2. there is nothing, you can do about it at that point.
I think she’s gonna be under powered until either people figure her out or she gets massive buffs from RIOT but once either of those happen she will feel very OP in the same way release Zeri was through sheer kite and sustained dps. Hopefully RIOT will get her under control at that point relatively quickly. TBH, has there ever been a kite champ with movement on their abilities who hasn’t at one point or another been massively OP? Genuinely curious because the only ones who come to mind are Zeri and Kalista and they’re purposely kept week because of how easily they get out of hand. I guess Lucian is normally in an ok spot as far as I can remember…
How is it that I manage to ramble on forever even in text?
She will most likely end up being a pro pick only like Lillia. They are both tempo based battlemages. and their defenses are both based one movement.
imo she feels more like a mix between Ahri and Viktor than a battlemage
her CDs are kinda long so she doesn't have that kind of costant damage, nor she's particularly tanky just very mobile
looking at her numbers she seems pretty weak especially midlane where 90% of the roaster will outrange and outburst her,i just hope she doesn't becone a cheesy toplane pick
edit: actually thinking about it she seems extremely underpowered
something you never addressed in the video is that she effectively doesn't have any hard CC which is a massive deal for a mage,so even her supposed safety isn't as much as it seems like
like she can run a bit faster but compare that to Syndra having a fuck-off button
Not one Battlemage (let alone champion) has interested me since pre-rework Ar Sol. I miss when weird champions that didn't play like anyone else were still being made.
Bruh, your voice is too deep and soothing. I can’t hear you when literally anything else is happening no matter how much I turn up the volume
I really like this champ
Aurora is a Vainglory character
You are wrong about the utility of her ult.
That ult is a more instant Camille ult that can jail more than one champion who doesnt have a blink or cc cleanse. In teamfights an ult like that is huge specially if you catch an entire team with it.
Its like Irelia landing a 5 man ult. Even if she dies and doesnt manage to deal any dps if she does land a 5 man ult the amount of *instant* cc that is causes the whole team can alone win a team fight.
Landing a 5 man ult with her is much too comp dependent to flat out say it will win the team fight. There are enough champs with cc disruption/spellshields or team comps that want to fight within close quarters too make that claim. For team comps that want you to get close to them so they can get on top of you, her ult is probably a major bait and shouldn't be used to engage.
If you think zoner matchups in smash are not interactive for one side, that side doesn't know what they're doing.
Not sure i'm buying the whole "the recent champs have been fairly tame" pitch but ok
OMG A BUNNY GIRL!
My problem is that she's anoher champ with ridiculous mobility that makes her near uncatchable for some champs, like Lillia. But tbh maybe that's just how counterpicks work in this game and it's not so bad, just really fucking annoying. One of my champs is Riven after all, you can consider her hard to hit and catch even if she's somewhat predictable. But Twisted Fate or Malzahar can always stop her.
