i love how fucking good they sound live. would love them to just officially get back together for more than just a hand-full of shows and just go on a world tour. god damn the world needs to listen to this band.
the drummer is so sick, this whole band is sick ... it's a pity that there is no band like this nowadays (but if there is one i don't know yet please tell me!)
i dig the drums on this track sooooooooo much. I totally luv the blues riff turned into hardcore also... George Thorogood, eat your heart out!!! da de do de da... da de do de da... da de do de da, da da, da da da de do de da, da da, da da!!!
I used to listen to refused and try and figure all the time signatures. I could never fucking figure them out because of the pace, now I just sit back and take it in and don't think about those fucking signatures.
agreed, the breakdown is kind of unfortunate, solely due to the bass player. the bass on the record is amazing, while this guy dosen't even change chords or rhythm the whole time. BUT guitarist Kristofer Steen does play a little bit of "ornithology" by charlie parker in the very beginning, so we know who the real jazz player is in this lineup. they recover with the "bad to the bone"-like outro though
Oh yeah, you're right, the bass part plays like an ascending scale on the record, when the bass player here just plays the same set of notes. It's still a cool-sounding part live though, it hasn't ruined it.
@SmikenDike I think it's just the way he plays. There's a million drummers out there technically better than this guy, but I've never seen anyone beat on a kit with such passion and emotion like David does.
Another album would be sweet, but that will never happen. Plus, I don't even think I'd want it to happen at this point, unless it's going to be real authentic Refused type of music. If you look at what they've all done on their own, post Refused. It's all really soft stuff. I don't want to hear a Refused album with pop songs and ballads.
all hardcore music is absolute and utter shit when compared to one of the greatest heavy acts in recorded music history. no fucking question. its a shame the refused are fucking dead...
haha no he dosen't. on the record, the bass is changing chords, and changing rhythms, like a traditional walking bassline over chords, transitioning into a solo/breakdown. live, the bassist is only playing straight eighth notes over one repeated chord, which gets boring and repetitive. the double/string bass part being played by an electric fretted bass shouldn't sound much different (besides timbre) if they are playing the right notes and rhythms
that drummer is fucking UNBELIEVABLY underrated
This album made me want to become a drummer... his rhythm was way before its time
one could say that it was… deadly
It still is!
so glad this video exists, it;s rather rare that you see the drummer so up close
more than ten years old and still ahead of the times
First time for me here wowww amazing band
i love how fucking good they sound live. would love them to just officially get back together for more than just a hand-full of shows and just go on a world tour. god damn the world needs to listen to this band.
I always come back to this video to start my day!
Get that blood flowing.
Something so rough steamed and dirty, but the same time so clean and beautiful, that's how i'd like to define Refused.

@bacelines their is, its just rare. look up Gallows.

el diablo
They aren't really around today, but check out a band called Snapcase.
*Cyberness Intensifies*
@chrisplaysdrums I know, it´s sick. The drumming makes all the difference though. David´s a damn genius.
best comment ever
I couldn't agree more with Bitchcake. This is my favorite Refused song, so I'm allowed to be nitpicky. :)
ornithology @ the beginning
fucking obsene good riffs
hahhaha min jag känn david ;P
Ornithology!
how drunk were you when you recorded this. i feel sick. amazing song tho.
Anyone have an idea on how big his kick drum may be? It sounds 25"
@SmikenDike I think it's just the way he plays. There's a million drummers out there technically better than this guy, but I've never seen anyone beat on a kit with such passion and emotion like David does.
and what's up with the zooming? is that art?
hows that for the sikest intro ever =D

what do u think now?
all hardcore music is absolute and utter shit when compared to one of the greatest heavy acts in recorded music history. no fucking question. its a shame the refused are fucking dead...
They don't really attempt to sound like Refused, they have a very different sound.
But he plays exactly the same thing as on the record... Maybe with a bit of distortion added, but it's still the same thing.
drummer =amazing
camera man = terrible
