    I don't think braccus was a sworn. If you swear yourself to godking and decide to go with Lucien, he melts you, same with mordus when he tries to tell you about him. But if you convince braccus to leave nothing happens to him which means he's either not connected at all, or he's powerful enough to hold off the godking

      Powerful enough to not outright submit to the godking is my guess. He obviously knew of and was utilizing help from the godking. But Braccus is noted for being very powerful and quite wiley. And the godking may realize letting him run free causes a lot of chaos.

    I'm actually surprised that he's not a mandatory boss in Divinity original sin.
    It's a great end cap to the zone overall since all of the mini bosses are there.
    Thanks again for introducing me and maintaining my interest in Divinity

      Ironically after clearing act one fully for the first time on tactician
      I see why his fight is optional
      He is rediculous on tac, summons crystal wards on repeat that make him immune to everything and they need broke before you can hit him, and that's on top of his rage when the other bosses die

    I think the only major thing missed was the Well of the Brothers Baladur, the seers who spoke of his desires for power, to become Divine much like Lucian did later in history. And I don't remember where, but someone speaks of a vision of Braccus riding a dragon into battle with all the world, I think it was meant to be him taming and riding the Void Dragon, which was given a place holder in the final fight of the Kraken, a sort of foreshadowing to that entire event.

    I've only recently started playing DOS 1 and defeated Braccus. He mentioned that he was defeated before by adventurers. It made me think that he was in the other Divinity games that came out before DOS 1. But in this video I learned that this wans't the case at all.

    Thanks for the heads up about the spoilers, I'm playing through Divinity original Sin 2 right now and I'm curious as to who he is, but don't want to ruin the whole story. For that, you get a like and a sub. Thanks

    Thank you for this video. I was so confused as to who braccus was as his name ‘source king’ confused me as I thought he was the same person as the god king.

    Looking at the timeline, I think Braccus Rex existed in a period that the void dragon was outside the box, fighting Astarte and becoming stronger each day. Maybe this contributed to the tyrant madness.

    0:55 Isn't it said in act 1 when talking to the cursed undead source hunter in Fort Joy prison that braccus had been dead 1000 years? That would put his reign approximately 1000 years before dos2 no?

    • @MortismalGaming
      @MortismalGaming  Před rokem +1

      They are referring to when he came back to life in DOS1 1200 years before DOS2 in which he had already been dead and gone for an undisclosed amount of time and the kingdom he ruled all but forgotten

    it genuinely blow's my mind that someone would click on a lore video. then complain about being spoiled. it must happen, because almost every creator i watch pre-emtively say's "spoiler warning" even if the title alone should be enough to tell you it will have story content... cause you know, that's what LORE is.

    Kinda disappointing that he was the first major boss of DOS 1
