Such an inspiration story I mean to think when you have polio it’s most likely that your either in a wheelchair, braces,or in a iron lung for the rest of your life but this AMAZING women didn’t let those types of things get to her she found away to walk and even RUN again and to actually win 3 medals. This is a very inspiring story😍
I learned about her in class today, it’s heart breaking how she twisted her ankle and never gave up🙂. Everyone has a second chance to make a difference and she did and I’m proud😁
she literally parylized her leg
and ur talking about an ankle
I learned about her in class too, I have to write a paragraph about her. It's crazy how she managed to get her leg to heal
I also learned about her in class
She didn’t twist her ankle she had polio
Me too ✋️ 😢😮
She was beautiful. Given what she overcame, she’s the greatest sprinter ever.
So is usain bolt
Super sprinter
@everyday tenor She probably could’ve run faster with a modern track and modern shoes! Something to keep in mind.
Thank you for sharing this lovely footage. Truly awrsome perfomance by Wilma. RIP.
I love Wilma Rudolph because she do not give up

La Comalita we know that she’s a great person duh

Wonderful video and footage.
As a young boy doing that time I didn't see any of her Olympic races I read about her in Jet magazine.
I loved how the other runner showed her respect 0:43
The Italians dubbed her: La Gazelle. Breathtaking talent...
I love wilma

This is a good way to learn

amazing is awesome
Supperb, very strong athletics
Wow, she ran :11 sec on a cinder track. What could she have done on the fast track surfaces of today, combined with todays training methods?
ranhill, and with the wonder drugs what Flo Jo took.
great person
Wilma Rudolph!
Inspired 🖤✨
She is God's Angel. I m crying to see her.
彼女が1956Melbourne大会400relay決勝で、3走だったのを記録映像で観た事がある。長い脚でカーブを走る姿はダイナミックで、ただ「凄い!」としか言いようがなかった。長生き出来なかったのが惜しまれます。
Wilma is amazing
She’s awesome💜💜💜💜💋💋💋
I’m here cause of school 👩🦯

Does anyone have the full video of Wilma coming from behind in the relay and running pass Irina Press to win the gold. The 4x100 they are showing is the Semi Final race?
I've been looking for it too!
Please post if you find it, I really want to see her run past Irina Press
This is the final. She overtook Jutte Heine of Germany to win gold.
@@waynehentley4332 its not, she never was behind. I have read many books and also heard Bud Greenspan say specifically they almost fumbled the baton and Irina Press was about meters ahead and Wilma ran her down, like she was standing still.
@@2001COUPE The tall blonde girl is Jutte Heine of Germany, not Irina Press who was a shortish, stocky brunette.
Her story is inspirational because luckily she overcame Polio and became a world class Athlete.
Luckily a polio vaccine was available back then for Posterity
Ever believe in your mother
WILMA was definitely better than all the rest😊😊😊😊 I believed she grew up in a large family 20 give or take a few
Yes, 22 total. She was number 22.
but also forever number 1@@protectedpeace2649
I may be wrong but I have a memory of a quote: when asked how come you can run so fast? Wilma answered ' when you have as many brothers and sisters as I have, if you don't run you don't eat'. Hope this is correct - either way she's still the best ever.
My bro didn't stopped growing even after dying
I had to write an essay on her yesterday
Wilma's legs were longer than my road. Total gazelle.
Nice 😘
I learned about her yesterday and she twisted her ankle and she had a sickness named polo
Contrary to popular belief she, not Muhammad Ali (then Cassius Clay) emerged as the mega star of the 1960 Olympics, especially in Europe where the media and fans were enthralled with her.
min 02:22 a wild Giulio Andreotti appears 😂
A great 100m , with those long legs she would be up there with the best today. The 200 m time was a bit disappointing, though, last 50,m or so, it was as if she was going backwards. But a great video overall.
She will never be forgotten as long as People speak English.
As long as they can speak any language at all. Wilma Rudolph has earned international fame.
Faith 🤍
I want to become a most decorated Olympian
This is great, except the music doesn't fit. This footage would go well with early Metallica or Slayer.
meanwhile today's American Olympic female track stars hate their own country. Wilma is forever an American athletic princess. Thank you
How old was she
Well, the video says that she won a bronze at 16, then went for gold four years later; and the dates of her life (1940-1994) are given at the end of the video. So since this was the 1960 Rome Olympics, I'm guessing she was around 20.
lease2coach1
thats amazing everything she accomplish even through the struggles she had to face
24
she had to walk before she could run
HBCU
I feel bad that you had polio
Wilma wins all the gold medals for her love of her country, USA...yet she's hated in the very same country she loved dearly...USA
IMMEDIACY!!!
SHE RAN LONG AND TALL) SHE DID IT ALL) BUT DIDN"T GET WHAT WAS COMING TO HER) YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THIS THE 1960S) CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT) SEGREGATION) I WAS IN IT)
