also if you feel like you don't get references cause you deleted TikTok, trust me its so worth feeling in control of your time and habits, and you can feel glad you don't know what "chick-fil-a girl" is because you were doing stuff in your free time
Another vlog! 🥳I can totally relate to the decision of deleting TikTok, FOMO will literally be the death of me! But you got this, Carys! Be patient with yourself, wishing you all the best for the end of your first year x
the tiktok fomo is so real but my life feels so much more peaceful when i don’t have it but these short videos are everywhere like youtube shorts instagram reels it’s so annoying 😭 but they’re still not as bad as tiktok tbh
this is the most relatable video ever! it looks like we’re living the same life but in different places, but i think every teenager between 18 and 21 is living with these feelings, about college, tiktok and everything else
It's nice to know, that I'm not the only one, that's struggling with being motivated and focused on school stuff. Thank you for showing the 'bad' days also!!!! ❤
You remind me of myself only a year ago. I was a freshman in engineer, struggling with the same things you are. I kept thinking that I wasn't fit for the academic life, because I could not work long enough, or concentrate long enough. I lacked motivation, desire to work, focus on my studies because I cared about a million other things. I'm much better now, I feel more involved in my academics, I can do things I couldn't do before. If I have one thing to tell you, it's to just trust the process, and accept that some things are going to suck for a while. But it does change, you learn more about yourself and life, without actively trying to. As long as you do your best (don't kill yourself from pressure !), and genuinely want to succeed in your personal/everyday/academic life, it will slowly happen. Good luck to you and anyone else in college !
I deleted tiktok four months ago and I assure you that maximum once a month I feel like I’m not getting a joke or a reference, it’s much rarer than I believed before I deleted it.
I've graduated now but felt exactly the same as you here. Don't be hard on yourself - pushing through first year is perhaps the hardest part. You've got this!
You talking about TikTok is honestly so relatable. I do not use the app, but I have downloaded it in the past and it was an extreme struggle to delete it and to this day. sometimes I have to download it because I feel incredibly left out my kids at school who are joking about some new trend and I have no idea what they’re talking about and that’s why I like to settle down and just watch your videos because you remind me that I don’t need 15 seconds of a TikTok to entertain myself and honestly I think it’s valid to blame TickTalk for a lot of issues because it really is messing up everyone’s attention spans and it’s really hard for me to do my assignments because of how short my attention span is so I just want to say that I love your videos and Yeah bye ⭐️
I deleted TikTok last December and trust me girl it’s better I mean sometimes I feel left out and friends and family sometimes make fun of me when I don’t get a trend 😂 but I wanted to priorities my mental health when I had TikTok I always had insane screen time like 12 h but know it’s like maximum 3h it felt like my brain was fried I couldn’t concentrate on anything know I even sleep better I still have struggles to remember what I did before I had TikTok and sometimes when iam bored I wish I had TikTok but then I remember how bad it always made me feel I hope this motivates you to delete TikTok or restrict the time you spend on that app😊 Also I love your vibe ur videos are a safe place that always make me feel calm. keep going❤
Dear Carys, I’ve been feeling under the weather for these past two weeks as well as my exams are approaching. I really related to this vlog and it gave me so much warmth and comfort as a student away by myself. I’m so thankful to have you with us, please never stop making videos. Sending lots of love, good luck Xx
I feel the same about going on your phone and scrolling down on tiktok as the first thing in the morning but if you dont do it and have control of yourself which is easier said than done those kinds of apps are good for.. I dont know getting inspiration or getting money or making your dreams come through like becoming an influencer or something.
It's safe to say you're becoming one of my favourite creators on this platform. I love the way you film and edit but more importantly, (I'm in third year of uni) I'm always on the lookout for content like this, of other people in uni just sharing their experience. I can't tell you how similarly I feel about social media. For the past 2 years I've been on and off it. The only thing ill say is that, right now, when you're thinking about uninstalling it is when the fear of fomo hit the most. The longest I've stayed off is a full 3 months I think and I can't tell you how good I felt. Once you're in it, it gets much easier and even if you're not studying in that time and just reading a book, listening to music, going on a walk, you feel so much better. Social media has the tendency to just make your brain tired and lazy. As for academics and writing essays, again, I sympathize with you. (I might have this wrong but you said you're in year1? so I tell you this out of my three years of experience) The thing that has helped me the most is being less critical of myself, taking things one at a time, and (a more practical solution) being in constant interaction with professors, discussing essay ideas and outline with them and getting their approval. I think it makes me more confident in myself when I do that. Anyway, that's all.
i deleted tiktok in march 2021 because the year i was on it triggered such bad anxiety and body dysmorphia. its been three years since and i do not regret that decision at all, i would 100% recommend it. culture exists everywhere and not just on tiktok, you'll still get all the references eventually dw
felt everything you said in my bonesssss! finals are this next week and i feel like ive wasted all the time i could’ve studied during. idk. uni is hard… kudos to us anyway!
DELETE TIK TOK!!! I haven’t had any social media for 3 years, I’m happier than ever. I am also finishing my first year of uni! I know who my real friends are! I don’t want to discuss tik tok trends I want to discuss life!!
you look good w your hair tucked in incase that ever made you self conscious or sm (just what i thought watching this video- you tucking your hair them bring them front) 😊
I'm having the exact same sort of a day except for my essay I don't know how I'm supposed to use the data for it and it was due 3 days ago.. I love chapter one but I was struggling so hard to focus there yesterday!
as a philosophy student who had to write 2000 word papers every two weeks, don't feel bad for taking frequent breaks if it helps you through!! take it one step at a time!
Carys I noticed that u like tea with milk, I just wanna know what is ur opinion on karrak tea ? Have you tried it? I like it but without the stuff that in it like some people will add Ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, or saffron. I just like it tea with milk and that’s it.
oh and im also in the depths of deadline season atm and my best advice is the pomodoro method. to set a 25 min timer and force yourself to just give it a go no distractions and full commitment to 25 mins of work, usually i find i acc want to do more when the 25 mins is up! super helpful for making time not blur into one long day of self hatred
Hi Carbs this was a fun little vlog as usual. About the FOMO thing and TikTok I understand it can be so hard to remove something from your life that you don't really like but because you want to stay in the know you compromise. I personally decided to not have tiktok on my phone at all since covid and I never feel TomTom fomo Praise the Lord!! So you too will find the strength. May God give you the strength.💓😚
girrrlll, i feel ypur pain about tiktok!!!! i spend a lot of time there too and im really upset about it... and also im afraid of missing all that trends and jokes. i like tiktok, i like people there, but it takes too much time from me. so does it worth it...?
maybe try just deleting it for a week! i delete it on and off to break the scroll habit and redownload to make videos or until i find myself on it for ages again, less scary then for fomo reasons xx
As somebody who's gone through academia, I know it isn't a lot but some of us struggle with getting academic writing done 😅 can relate since I have adhd and am doing a second master's, but ofc a lot of my peers have it far easier
why would someone who already has a viable income stream with hundreds of thousands of views on youtube put themselves through essays and assignments. are you a masochist
watching cary’s videos in evening after a hard day is like a reward😩
also if you feel like you don't get references cause you deleted TikTok, trust me its so worth feeling in control of your time and habits, and you can feel glad you don't know what "chick-fil-a girl" is because you were doing stuff in your free time
agreed!! being out of the loop is so fun, it makes you feel in control I LOVE IT
THIS!
Yes uncleeee!!❤

So true
it's cute how she tucks her hair and then put them in front again
a girl i used to like did that a lot. it was really cute
It's nice to know, that I'm not the only one, that's struggling with being motivated and focused on school stuff. Thank you for showing the 'bad' days also!!!! ❤
your sister's place is so cute and cosy

ugh i love your videos so much, they're so relaxing
i can't explain how much i love your videos and the motivation thing is so relatable. i feel like I'm failing and i feel so guilty about that
The way you film your videos is amazing, this video is perfect.
your videos are so comforting
I've graduated now but felt exactly the same as you here. Don't be hard on yourself - pushing through first year is perhaps the hardest part. You've got this!
your style of filming and editing is gorgeous
just opened this video while working on my deadlines in chapter one books lol wtf

I'm currently doing my A levels and am feeling scarily unmotivated, but just trying to keep my dream uni in mind!

Hey,firstt🔆🤍
I am your fan, I hope to get a heart from you 🥹❤️❤️
Ok there is one song you use for alot of videos...but that is the one song you never list....😐
You been busy a lot of this video
500 words? there are bigger personal statement sections on most job applications. you have to be joking
