Deegan and Smith going at it reminded me of the 2003 125 East SX title chase where Brock Sellards and Ivan Tedesco went at it until Tedesco got around Sellards and won while Sellards' bike exploded into smoke and he DNF'd. I thought if Smith got around him, Yamaha would say, "Oh, it's fine, we're not going to win this most likely; Jordan, if you want to win this... go for it!" I do hope Levi Kitchen does recover from that, but if you're in the Pro Circuit camp and under Levi's corner, you have to be pretty disappointed to know the title chase was all but done after the first turn. Hopefully 250 Motocross will be a season to remember as well. Keep 'em coming, Cooksey!
Cooksey, the eligibility rule now is basically just a modified point out rule that used to be there in the 125/Lites days. The point out rule pushed all riders up to the 250/Supercross/Premier class; this is just focused on the guys that win the championships so they don’t sandbag. Even though we all know the current 250 class isn’t a feeder class anymore, it’s a premier class just like the 450 class. Futures is the feeder class and needs to be the east west series. I’ll also die on the hill these manufacturers need to bring back 125 2 strokes to fill the gap between supermini and the “250f”

As much as the AMA and Teams want to present it like the old “this is where the young guys are built” like the 125 class of the 90’s and early 2000’s; it’s not. We aren’t seeing Support Teams like Planet/Plano/Fmf Honda, Honda/Yamaha of Troy, Primal Impulse Bills Suzuki, etc. PC is really the last of those. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Gas Gas, Husky, KTM, and Triumph are running their 250 programs out of whatever is considered the factory team rigs and then there’s some mixed in teams and privateers. But those are also in the 450 class. So many in the sport are so young they don’t realize that the 450 is on par to the 500’s of old (in a sense) and is an open class bike. Not everyone is cutout to ride it, pro or average Joe. We need a third class now as our feeder and small east/west class.
