New Song (Howard Jones) Instrumental cover

- This is my instrumental cover of the hit song 'New Song' by Howard Jones from 1983.
I recreated this version from scratch in Cubase 12 Pro, and used a variety of VST instruments.
The main instruments being:
- Steinberg Retrologue 2
- ReFX Nexus 4
- Native Instruments Battery
I also hummed the first few bars and modulated the pitch to give it a nice gentle sounding opening, after that I've tried to make it as accurate to the original as I could get it.... with a few small little extra flourishes.
The famous lead synth sound was actually quite easy to recreate, and in the middle of this video I show you how I did it.

For supersaw (lead sound), open 2 voices, both sawtooth waveforms, detune one a bit and pan them left and right, throw one a little chorus and reverb.
As someone with autism i immediatley connected with this song when i heard it at my local kohls, and have been searching for an instrumental version ever since. Thanks for making one :)

@juliancroot I feel your pain lol. I'm working on a fun track from an 80s TV show that requires vocals so I'm going to enlist the help of my brother for that part. I may or may not finish it this year as I just started another song today, I'm all over the place just now as also trying to finish an Xmas song I started over a year ago 😂
@@ge0music307 'All over the place' pretty much describes me too, so I think its normal :). Definitely get the Christmas song out, its the right time of year...otherwise you'll be sitting on it for another 11 months.
Once I'd decided to make a Xmas song, the pressure I put on myself to finish it is probably what I need all year round. Its way too easy to give up on stuff... and I do it all the time.
