    Bobby Heenan was wrestling. As a teen, me and 4 or 5 other teenaged guys met The Brain after he did a radio interview. He put on the whole Bobby "The Brain" routine in a hallway for 6 teenaged boys. He never dropped the persona. It was great. To see him suffer like he did at the end was really heartbreaking. He gave me and millions of others GREAT entertainment. I pray God gives him peace in the palm of HIS hand.

    I had the pleasure of knowing Bobby before he went to the WWF. In the early 70:s, he was a vastly underrated wrestler, taking crazy, over the top rope bumps and juicing every nite. Back then he managed the Valiant Brothers, Baron Von Rashcke, Ernie Ladd, or whomever else was facing Dick the Bruiser. No one could cut a promo like Bobby. Outside the ring, he was by far the funniest, wittiest guy in the business. There will never be another like him. GOAT manager. Rest in peace Ray.

  • @KaiTakApproach
    @KaiTakApproach Před 2 lety +4

    I used to get the WWF magazine and Heenan had an article on the last page of each edition. He made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe. He was the one who made me first appreciate the heels.
    His comment that wrestling was "over" because it had already gone as far as it could go sounds prescient now. Wrestling as a mainstream draw was over at that point, and will stay that way for a long time. The Attitude Era has to be forgotten and there will have to be another cultural shift. It will continue to collect serious fans but the sharp rise of the eighties fell off again in the 2000s as hardcore wrestling and pushing the limits of adult storylines hit the wall.
    I am glad we had those times. I am glad we had Heenan.

In 2002, Bobby Heenan appeared so vibrant and healthy, but by 2007, the contrast is stark with drastic weight loss-a sight that evokes sadness. He was 100% right about the Indies at that time. A lot of out of shape bums in the mid 2000's. He said some are ok, and a lot are not. What he said still holds up.
