I was so young when this came out, I didn’t even know who Joaquin Phoenix was. But if I did and if I knew the story with him and River, this movie would’ve been even sadder.

Joaquin did such amazing voicing Kenai. Especially right before Kenai's little panic attack. When he's beginning to realize he has been turned into bear.

I can't believe it was him. It must've been a complicated movie to make since he lost his brother too.
It was in fact Aaron Blaise said while Joaquin was recording the scene after Sitka die. Joaquin was in completely in tears. Aaron Blaise was so caught up that Joaquin had to swear at Aaron because he for to say cut. That scene was going to longer but was cut short because they felt was dark.

Not only that, he was there when it happened, called 911 while River was dying, that's extremely traumatising.
I was about to draw Kenai until I looked at the cast of the movie and was like "Kenai was voice by Joaquin Pheonix himself?!!!"

This movie was so good, the hate it got is undeserved. It was sadder than Lion King, and considering that whole thing with Joaquin’s brother River, it makes it even sadder.
I’m really mixed on this movie. The first 15-20 minutes are amazing and emotional. But I feel like the movie goes downhill once the main character gets turned into a bear
His older brother, River, would be so proud of him
This is why Joaquin loves animals so much because of when he played Kenai it was about Kenai learning a lesson and that is protecting the bear cub
It's no wonder Joaquin support animals rights. He voiced one who not learn a lesson. But become an older brother himself.

I'm just realizing that Joaquin and Zac Efron sound a lot alike, like, they share a common warmth to their voices, at least. Am I crazy?
They really do, they both have this friction-y quality in their natural speaking voices. Joaquin must have good vocal control because you can barely hear it in Kenai.

it's been 15 years since the first time i saw brother bear and this is one of my top disney film. i watched this film once every few years and i just finished watching it again a few minutes ago.
i never pay attention to the post credit scene (after the hillarious behind the scene kinda thing) and when i finally saw joaquin phoenix's name at the top of the voice actors, my head almost exploded like REALLY?? AFTER ALL THESE YEARS I WATCHED BROTHER BEAR AND I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS??
D*** it's no wonder this movie so freaking awesome.

Tod Philip: to play the part of joker i remembered the voice actor for brother bear and his amazing performance. So a team and i worked hard to find that same bear, shave him, and added white paste and he looked all set for the role
