Lil Yachty returned a changed man after his Poland expedition.
He saw all that needed to be seen. He felt all that needed to be felt. He knew all that needed to be known.
He exchanged the wock for the true meaning of life, and now, he shares it with us all.
Classic wock
He came with the wock, and he left with LSD

So I’ve never been a Lil Yachty fan. But I heard about this album this morning, checked it out, and was completely blown away. It’s so amazing. What an amazing left hand turn.
He found some great studio musicians to make great instrumentals but he's still only contributing bad singing
I'd recommend revisiting his first album, I was hooked since I heard it
Same here. I'm in the same Boat, so to speak
@@thevarietychannelofyoutube4769i like autotune sound tho
@@thevarietychannelofyoutube4769 he produced 12 out 14 songs dude. He did more than what you tried to disrespect him for
This album is just what "Speeding Bullet 2 Heaven" wanted to be. Both in the sense of a rapper transitioning their style, and sonically.
Nah, sonically it has nothing to do with SB2H. Cudi wanted to do grunge and rawer music
@@ravesilva well he was in a really deep and dark state at the time cudi made sb2h, and he went to rehab after. so i feel like it would’ve been better if he was in that right state of mind
Both are good ideas with one or two good songs but overall pretty mediocre albums
I almost had a heart attack I though Brad was talking about AJR

This album to me seems like tyler the creators flower boy in terms of how it marks where he is at his musical progression level. Nobody really took tyler that seriously until flowerboy, but ever since then he has only released bangers (I know brad doesnt like igor). If yachty keeps this up he might end up as respected as tyler is today.
you gotta remember he took only 6 months on this album. he produced 12 of 14 tracks and put allot of it together. people will say yachty didn’t have much of a hand but this album is well from his mind. this is just a platform into something greater
6 months to put together 12 absolute bangers is astonishing
This album took 2 years to make
@@cristianalexander8861 no he sat on it for 2 years meaning that’s how long he’s been thinking about doing an album like this
Whaaat?? 6 months to make this gorgeous album?

Fucking amazing appetizer with black Seminole and a 9/10 desert with reach the sun shine!
Yeah he does seem pretty cooked
Luckily don’t need the sharpest brain for psychedelic rock.
This album has no right being as good as it is
It's honestly criminal how good this is. The best example of a rapper changing genre styles and being amazing at it
This album is honestly amazing. It's an incredibly beautiful series of psychedelic vibes that take advantage of Lil Boat's unique traits and make something beautiful with it. Absolute fantasticness from front to back. 😎😍

I can’t believe Lil Yachty pulled a reverse Muse
Literally
The yacht of the people
This is honestly some of the most tasteful Neopsych I’ve heard in years, it makes me wanna hear Yachty collab with Toro Y Moi, Neon Indian or even Kevin Parker himself; such a wonderfully-done blending of influences I can instantly pick up on without feeling like it’s wearing the influence too heavily on its sleeve. I can believe Magdalena Bay was in on the production side too. Yachty and everyone else who collaborated with him on this should be really proud of it, they came through with some real honest-to-god heat.
Yachty was on the remix of Tame Impala's Breathe Deeper
@@maxlimit9129 Nah but I mean on a fully original work, not just a remix.
THIS!!!! THIS IS WHAT I WANTED TO SAY
@@maxlimit9129 yes but we need now a new song
imo yachty's vocals is one of the strongest aspects of the album. He has a very unique voice and in combination with the autotune and stuff it sounds amazing
Too many people hating on the vocals bro 😭😭 it's not amazing and definitely not comparable to other psych rock projects but I think the autotune adds to the overall trippy LSD vibe to it for me. It's not for everyone
@@hadesedits1501 fr, i used to despise yachty's voice bc of soncs like i spy so i thought i wouldnt like it on this as well. But it did a total 180 for me and i absolutely love it
@@BEN24024 Same. I really love the way it sounds like he's breathing in with every line almost, it helps his voice blend in with the instrumental. I feel like it's most obvious in pRETTy, with it's amazing adlibs and backing vocals, which makes it one of my favourites off the album that isn't hyper-ambitious (not that I dislike the ambitious songs, they all have song of the year potential like the intro track is crazy, I just feel like to compare something like the ride to ive officially lost vision is a bit odd.)
@@tombradshaw1378 real
He actually has pretty good vocal performances on this album
You know, 2023 has started off REALLY slowly in terms of music. There's been some good albums but nothing remarkable. I've been waiting for the first truly great album of the year to drop, as I feel like we've been in kind of a musical drought for the past 27 days. BUT I DIDN'T THINK THE THING THAT WOULD ABSOLVE US OF THIS DROUGHT WOULD BE LIL YACHTY DROPPING A PSYCHEDELIC ROCK ALBUM. This is pinnacle of "a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one". the BLACK seminole is song of the year
I saw a tweet the other day that said something along the lines of "what do you mean Lil Yachty is dropping a psychedelic album at midnight" and it captured my feelings at the time perfectly
Jumping the gun, this album is just ok
my brother in christ its still january
tbh I think this year has started stronger than last year did. I’ve already got four 8/10 ratings which is about as many as I had within Jan-March last year. Plus February is gonna be a pretty stacked month for big releases.
Damn bro 27 day music drought? You just listen to songs for like a week then it’s on to the next? Interesting ..
Lil yachty really in his redemption arc after the teen titans go song 🔥
That was his peak
Never really was a fan of Yachty, but I got 5 minutes into the video and decided to listen to the album on my own, and oh my god this is such an amazing album.
SAME
YUP!
It was exactly the opposite for me. I had no idea Yachty was dropping, I just opened Spotify and the album was recommended to me, I said "why not" and gave it a try. 5 minutes into the first track I had to rush Twitter to check out what I was hearing was true lmao
Yachty needs to go to Poland more often if he’s gonna come back and drop music like this.
This guy thought you could blow a cello
I knew Yachty had potential, I know he’s a big Beatles fan and likes rock, and you can hear the psychedelic and Pink Floyd influences in this album.
If you took away the vocals, many of the songs here could literally be mistaken for Floyd songs. That alone feels like a huge achievement
Coming into this album hearing it was a psych rock album, I thought it was gonna be extremely obvious he phoned in the most basic elements. Consider me absolutely blown away and happy with this album, unironically this might be seen as one of the biggest left turns in music history
Is this the only succesful transition to rock from a rapper? I was thinking of how terrible the category "rock album by mainstream rapper" was.
He pulled a Kid A on us.
@@andreaseverin1346 Kid Cudi failed terribly, MGK is mediocre af, Lil Wayne's rock album wasn't really bad, is there any other rapper who transitioned to rock?

I don't know how I feel about the autotune (production is fucking fantastic obv), but I do see the artistic vision. Like a psychedelic afrofuturist rock cut for the hyperpop generation. It's a super dope niche.
Imo the autotune adds to to psychedelic floating feeling to the songs
"Psychedelic afrofuturist rock cut for the hyperpop generation". This is an impressive string of words that I will definitely steal to sound smarter in future conversations (not being sarcastic), but why would you define current times as a hyperpop generation?
@@kisukami6719 I defiantly wouldn’t, hyperpop has become much more popular, but we just got out of covid. And let’s just say no one was fucking hyper. It was super mellow and sad, although great songs came from it. Just not hyperpop.

never liked lil yachty but this album is gorgeous. everything from the cover art to the features, to the synths and drums. i absolutely love the psychedelic direction he’s delved into. i’m personally not a huge fan of the vocals but they still work well with the tracks.
Reminds me of Bladee, at 1st everyone clowned on his akward vocals but then it grew on alot of people. I feel like this album will have the same effect
I love the album but the cover could be better
@@bruh......2005 Everyone is still clowning on it, bladee sucks ass (Ive never heard a bladee track before.)
Nah everything is a W apart from the cover art. Ugly and lazy as hell, such a weird decision to make that choice when he clearly put so much time and love into the sound
@Ed JAMAZ That cover is awesome though. It's incredibly weird and trippy, grabbing your attention, and matching the surreal sound of the album. You crazy.
Lil Yatchy making the highest rated album of 2023 so far… this year is WILD!!
best part about this video is Brad treating us to nightcore versions of like half these songs
The production and writing choice are what makes this album, MGMT, Mac Demarco, Chairlift, Magdalena Bay even Night Slugs OG Jam City, instead doing a trap rnb album that tries to replicate the psych indie world, he brought in some of the pioneers to execute that sound and I think it really shows. 9/10 album gets better as go on through it
This album is genuinely amazing, definitely AOTY so far from what I’ve heard

I just starting listening to this album and the first track made me cry. I don't even know why. Beautiful stuff.
Took the wok to poland and was never the same. Worth mentioning that yatchy is a fan of psychedelic rock, so this feels like a love letter/tribute to the genre, and yatchy taking a risk.
Ever since his remix of Tame Impala's Breathe Deeper, I've had high hopes for Lil Yachty's work, and man did he deliver. I'm loving this!

Yachty's Awaken My Love
As Jon Denton said
This sounds like Purple Floyd
For the first time ever, I actually stopped this video to go and listen to the album first. Ive never been the biggest Yachty fan especially with his solo work, so knowing that Let's Start Here was like nothing he's ever put out before got me REALLY excited and I was not disappointed

Dude this is such a damn curveball from an artist like him this is fantastic
Speedin' bullet 2 heaven but done great
Bruh EXACTLY
It’s exactly like speedin bullet 2 heaven. only difference is that it’s absolutely nothing like it at all! Great comparison
Song #9 though. Wow. I absolutely love how this album is a complete crash test of modern autotune abuse with classic psych rock and it absolutely 100% works. Not only does it work, it feels like both aspects add something that was lacking from the other all this time.
Also re: every song... the fucking synth bass uuuuuuuuuuuuugh 🥵

the greatest left turn in music history 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯pitchfork shooting star 10 review incoming
(in all seriousness this album was great black seminole is gonna be a soty contender)
man really took the wok to Poland then randomly became peak Pink Floyd
Bro took the wok to poland and thought it wasnt enough so he took the wok to the dark side of the moon.
Reach the sunshine is my favorite outro track I have heard in a while. despite how good the rest of the album is, that stood out in a way that felt significant
I think the reason why its so good and works well as an outro is that it feels like it could be an intro. Its sound is mysterious, leaves us with questions, and its climactic. Which is perfect for an outro because it leaves us wondering what he will do next. It doesnt feel like a resolution and thats exactly why its such a good resolution. One of my favs off of the album.
Brad this is one of your best vids and one of your best reviews, glad you enjoyed the album.
I thought Poland was amusing (I am half Polish after all), but going from that to an album that could credibly be declared an Album of the Year contender is absolutely astonishing. And the amazing thing about this album is I’ve listened through it at least three or four times since yesterday and there’s not a weak track in it. Even the failure interlude is entertaining.
I have never once listened to a Lil Yachty album but this one was the best thing I’ve ever heard from him. the Black Seminole was a 10 for me and the album as a whole was a solid 8. This one was damn good
One of my favorite album openers ever tbh

Wow thanks for reviewing this, I probably wouldn't have known about it otherwise. I can't get over how interesting and fresh this sounds, lil yachty just came out of nowhere with this, it's actually really inspiring to see
Justin Raisen, who produced a lot of the tracks here, did co-production on the last couple Yves Tumor albums and can definitely feel some influence from there on this especially from tracks like Kerosene
Yup, plus Diana Gordon is all over this album. Heaven to a tortured mind is one of my fav albums and I’m loving this one too
YES exactly my thoughts straight from the first track, that guitar solo and the female vocals are straight Yves Tumor vibes but I’m here for it
i was shocked when i heard that jam city sample. one of my favorite artists out there and hopefully they get more exposure for being on this album. (the instrumental to the ride is jam city - cruel joke, id highly recommended listening their entire album its insanely underrated and one of my fav albums of 2020)
Lil Yachty made graduation.
*I always knew Yatchy had something else in him* he was using 1/8th of his power on Uninspired, trap music… AOTY contender FOR SURE

this is definitely an great comeback album of Lil Yachty, could be the best album to come out for the month of January.
This album I tried on your screenshot saying it was decent, you didn’t let me down Brad.
Im really happy to hear this album for the sole purpose that this will be some peoples first experience of psych-rock and they might get hooked on the sound. i believed the hype yachty was promoting with this album and was still amazed by how great it was, it is gonna be great to look back on
THATS WHY HES THE GOAT THE GOAAAAATTT
My roommate was house sitting at his aunts so he invited me and a couple other buddies over. We listened to the album through her surround sound home theatre system and got obliterated. Don’t know if you guys saw the CZcams video of the viewing party. The visuals are crazy.
I appreciate the risk this man took, it might not make big numbers but artistically speaking, this is the best album of 2023 so far
This album reminds me of kerosene! by yves tumor especially with the diana gordon features
Mr Raisin has apparently worked on Yves Tumor's music
Not only is the entire album amazing, the fact that all the songs transition so cleanly into each other makes it that much better.
The production is top tier but I can’t act like the singing is something I wanna hear often. I think Yachty is a very likeable person and that has a lot to do with the hype. I just wonder if the novelty will wear off if he continues to go down this path. I definitely respect the album and had a great time listening tho
I wish he would just learn to sing
