      This right here are the kinds of cops we want. This Sheriff is exactly the kind of law enforcement that would regain the trust of the public. Most department's would just lie and claim they did nothing wrong but these guys admitted to wrongdoing and made things right. It's sad that we have to applaud police for doing the right thing but it's a breath of fresh air to see something like this.

      Did you notice something else? He repeated: They were nice and good people when contacting him. EVEN when he had done something wrong. So people can learn a lot. You ALWAYS start nicely and to see if they are honest people. THEN if they lie, you can go as hard as you want basically.
      One thing is for sure: Everyone is wrong sometime. And not everyone deserves to be shit on. Especially people who were not directly involved

    • @markimusprime3
      @markimusprime3 Před 6 měsíci +6

      @Rob3565 In most cases due to police misconduct and refusal to ever admit wrongdoing a suit would need to be brought however in a case like this I see that the police got him his job back and publicly apologized and as long as in addition to that they were willing to offer up a preemptive settlement there's no reason to drag it through litigation. I do agree that they should offer some money but it's not like it needs to be millions of dollars. They made restitution in the areas they could and as long as they also offer like 10-100k to restore the lost time and anxiety of everything I believe that would make him whole. Now if they police didn't learn their lesson and refused to accept liability for the mistake and kept betraying the public trust then a suit for millions should be brought. That's just not the case here.

Even if he isn't guilty the arrest still remains on his record and must be reported to all employers. The press conference is only an acknowledgment that they broke the law. It does not make this man and his family whole. As for those arguing the phrase 'right to work'. This was a propaganda piece put out by the GOP. The Sheriff acted in good faith, unfortunately the resemblance of a photo was so close that an arrest was made on the wrong guy. I don't think the informant asked for a State Issued ID before buying/selling fentanyl to the person the Sheriff's department is looking for. Only a photo to go by and trying to stop the flow of fentanyl that could kill you or anyone else that you may know.
      Don't believe what I'm saying, then answer this.... What if you picked up some trash in your yard that was contaminated with fentanyl and overdose. Would that make you a drug addict? The only info anyone can go on is your overdose just like a photo recognition from a drug informant.

      Sheriffs are closer to politicians (they are elected officials) than anything. You witnessed a politician trying to save face, nothing more. This does nothing for the community or the man who was fired from his job because of THEIR mistake. Don't be impressed by politicians who spout platitudes... that's how we got in this mess in the first place.

      If the person involved weren't a city employee (noted in the speech) I would find this commendable, but what is more likely is the person began suing the city for wrongful termination based on lack of factual evidence, and the police admitting this will return the person to the normal light, instead of people talking about how a city employee was in a drug bust.
