- Inspired by a tier list a viewer created, I thought it would be fun to go through many of the channels seen in the Freeview EPG and rank them up! Which ones will emerge top of the pile? And which channels will come out at the bottom...? Find out in this tier list video!

One notable thing about Film4 is during daytime hours on weekdays, it shows older (mostly black and white) movies from the 40s to the 60s. That's pretty cool.
5USA is a waste just showing American investigation cop dramas why not classic American comedies ,sort the channel.out getting worse then challenge
There’s plenty of classic films I’ve managed to check out thanks to Film4, the likes of Vertigo, Stalag 17 amongst others spring to mind

CBBC and CITV made up part of my childhood.
Looking at them now, CBBC oozes with personality and good shows, as well as new episode premieres and in-vision continuity. CITV is a husk.
I grew up with CBBC when they were literally from a broom cupboard under the stairs at the BBC Television Centre in the 80s lol😂

HGTV replaced UKTV's Home same with Great Food to Food Network. After this UKTV is fully owned by BBC Studios.
As someone who grew up with CBBC from around 2010-2016, yes I'd go S tier as well. It was always on in our house, a lot more personality, variety and overall quality than CITV imo. Not sure how it is now.
Up until 2015, cbbc was my go to channel after I came home from school.

Id put BBC Two over BBC one, I feel the original programing is stronger. Also Channel 4 deffo as S tier. Deffo one of the strongest channels. Though E4 maybe over... Hmmm but C4 has a nice mix of content and meeting different demographics while being interesting
I can understand Adam's point around cooking shows being slightly outdated, with recipes mostly being available online for free in most cases. In my view the best cooking shows were also travel shows and showed audiences new cultures and peoples of the world. I still think those type of programmes have a place but maybe not, as Adam said, as a dedicated channel. But maybe I'm slightly biased given my love of food and travel.
PS Love your work Adam, whenever your videos pop up on my feed I stop everything to watch them. Keep up the great work!

Same thing with shopping channels, very unnecessary to have shopping channels in an era where people are using stuff like amazon prime and doing online shopping

10:29 You’re honestly talking about the American HGTV there, the UK HGTV launched in 1997 as UK Style.
Also the full name for the "Action" channel you put in "never watched" is 5Action, FKA Paramount Network UK, part of the Channel 5 family of networks.
12:23 Pop wasn't part of the Sky package that along with Tiny Pop was free to watch similar to CBBC and CBeebies.
It was originally part of the sky package. It only moved to Freeview in the early 2010's
@@crimsontheotter I remember watching it about 2003/4 before I had the other kids channels (Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon etc).
BBC Three is still nowhere near as good as it was, but, Cuckoo series 1 was on Three not too long ago, Gavin and Stacey just finished re-airing, Two Pints of Larger and a Packet of Crisps is on Saturdays at 9pm, Fleabag is on Mondays at 10:30 or 11:30pm and Bad Education is on Thursdays at 9pm. BBC Three is nowhere near as good as it was, but I think it could be getting there, if they prioritise entertainment rather then shows such as I Kissed a Boy, or that glow up show.
Action is actually 5Action lunch in July 2018 as Paramount Network before coming 5Action in January 2022 as Paramount Plus was lunching in the UK it shows UK Police Chase Shows, Live Wrestling, Western and US Dramas
I'd swap Challenge and Dave (because I love the Brit humour more than gameshows) and would have crowbarred BBC2 and C4 into S-tier, but otherwise, pretty close to what I would have done. Still just about old enough to remember the launch of Channel 4. Always wondered what would have happened if the bits of the logo missed each other.

11:30 ITV4 broadcasts a lot of sport and motorsports (most notably the BTCC)
I agree with CITV being B, but I feel like it would be A since I am a huge 90s' CITV fan (mainly because of finders keepers with the legendary Neil Buchannan, who i also saw on some art attack episodes 😊, and obviously the CITV GOAT, fun house, obviously because pat sharp is a legend and the twins are cute hehehe) (i also like the us versions of both, the us version of finders keepers has to be the best nickelodeon show in history, and fun house is like the most underrated US kids show and also it aired on both syndication and on FOX back when FOX what still young 😊). I wonder if there are any more 90s' CITV shows on CZcams :D
That’s tv is a pretty good channel that plays some good British comedies

Australian channels: would be cool
US channels: it would be a goos idea, but I wouldn't like it cause everyone hates america and when americans post comments onto that video it would mostly be: "the world is better than america" or "i wish the us had these", which are 2 of my least favorite comments cause imo, while "i wish the us had these" is fine, i feel like they tend to promote anti-americanism, which unfortunately has been in it's prime since the 2020's began, and even more worse during the Biden era, which is quite sad since i heard that the election of Biden led to most countries coming back to a more positive view of the us (except russia, china, north korea, and others), however most of the hate during the biden era is sadly because of us americans 😢

This looks like a fun tier list to do, I do hope there is one with all the UK channels as it is one I would do for sure.
Out of all these channels, the ones that means a lot to me are:
CiTV, CBBC, POP, Tiny POP & POP Girl: Childhood Nostalgia, I would say for the same as KIX, but its rebrand to POP Max makes it a Waste of a Slot
Channel 4 & E4: My main channel for teenage years was E4. While Channel 4 has Simpsons, and other good shows
ITV2 - A recent one has it has the other Animation Domination shows
ITV3 - Has Midsomer Murders and once aired Murder, She Wrote
Film4 - Mainly for the Studio Ghibli movies
Food Network - Like watching cooking shows
5USA - Like watching CSI & NCIS
In regards to HGTV, it is a recent rebrand of the Home Channel.
5USA needs more us shows besides csi

Challenge: Just GSN but even worse cause they tend to show more repeats and nonstop episodes of "the chase" and GSN tends to show family feud a lot while mixing in the newer shows (including the 2020s reboot of Chain Reaction)

IMHO, 5Star would have definitely been A tier for sure back in 2017, but these days it's really more like D tier. It's absolutely shocking how downhill 5Star has gotten over the course of the past 6 or so years.
I like watch the totp reruns on bbc four but i don't watch that channel all the time. Also justice for Channel 4, that channel is "iconic" 😂😂
I think ITV2 is one of my favourite channels
ITV2 has good movies and Family Guy / American Dad, but it also has Love Island 💀💀💀.
It is good for catching movies though imo.

@@TUYonCZcams I see Pop Max as that bin channel where pop just dumps former programming on to it. They don't really air Pokémon on it anymore though.

Challenge was a great channel years ago. In the last 5 or so years, it just repeats the same shows on repeat. It’s not really a gameshow channel anymore. Which is a shame!!

@@2Draw Oddly, it shows Dickinson's Real Deal and Scrapheap Challenge. The other programmes are Bullseye, The Chase, Tenable, Pointless and Millionaire. I miss the older programming!!

ITV4 often shows sports coverage. For example, IPL.
Some channels on Freeview have nothing on them - by which I don’t mean anything on worth watching - I mean nothing!
Freeview have a channel called TCC for only 2 hours in the early hours iof morning then nothing for rest of the hours plus TCC sound like the old The Children's Channel but literally it's The Commuinity Channel

Yeah since nobody loves present-day media (not even anyone from the countries that have been known for having the least biased media, like finland for example)
For me, Channel 4 is top tier. ITV1 and Channel 5 deserves lower positions lol
CITV is awesome it had Nickelodeon Disney and Cartoon Network content even if CBBC may have had Rugrats Fairly OddParents or Wild Thornberrys but I am big on cartoons so CITV

Challenge has gone stale thanks to Comcast. The sky network when they truly owned it was golden era.

Think in recent years most UK TV channels have gone downhill that is for sure.
pop channel always been free
BBC two had friday night comedy zone, the simpsons, classic comedy afternoon weekdays..
Now its just blah....

No offence but I'd put Challenge much lower in the tier list as it feels like a horrifically cheap and boring version of Game Show Network and is of course a shell of its former self these days. I just feel as though you're extremely biased when it comes to game shows in general.

GSN is boring too but here's the good news (not for you sadly)
In tne US we have this channel called Buzzr which is a digital tv network that's known for airing classic game shows from mainly the 70s 80s and 90s, with some 50s and 60s shows mixed in. Buzzr is basically what challenge did in it's prime (2000's-late 2010's)!!
But i have an unfortunate problem with Buzzr...
....we dont have it on directv 😢 ( and sadly it can only be used on streaming services unless they have dish, which is ch. 245)
Challenge isn't that good anymore like it just feels like they show the same shows all the time.
Plus I feel like nobody loves the 2016-present logo... the UK needs like a classic game show channel to serve as an alt channel just like buzzr in my country

In between the crap on ITV 2 which makes it waste of a slot there is some real gameshows, comedy, drama and animated comedy, films and documentaries hidden in there which makes it not so much.
ITV 4 starts off with ITV 3 kinda stuff then airs any cycle, horse or motor racing highlights it has in the afternoon then your documented and Robot Wars USA Battlebots then highlights versions of the racing, or Monster Carp fishing then live darts currently whilst that is on replacing AEW with AEW shifted to a different day also replacing the action movie in the same slot on no AEW days.
did you seriously just judge ITV2 based on love island only and literally nothing else? that alone shows how out of touch you are, ngl

Thats TV show classic comedies ,music, the goodies,benny hill, the likely lads, till death us do part in sickness and in health ,kenny everett video show, Russ Abbots mad house,Hake and Pace, Beadle's About ,to name a few plus thsts tv have their own music channels That's 60 That's 70s That"s 80s,
