I've been putting off A Little Life for the same reason! I've heard fantastic things but also that it will leave me a sobbing mess and I'm not prepared for that lolll
I'm currently putting off The Name of the Wind, partly because of its size, partly because I think I might just be fantasy'd out right now... I need quite a bit of variety from one book to the next. I do want to read it at some point though.
The Bone Clocks is amazing! It was my favourite book of 2015. I'm quite good at putting off books because of their size. Two examples are The Stand and Under the Dome by Stephen King.
Heart of Betrayal was so good! I was really worried about not liking it because it wouldn't have the same mystery aspect, but I ended up liking it even more than the first one! The world just opens up and you learn so much. Definitely recommend reading this one soon.
You HAVE TO be emotional ready fo A Little Life. I'm reading it currently (almost done) and it's amazing! But it's also extremely nerve-wracking. But it made me appreciate friendship so much.
+luvtheoc101 Just everything! I try not to spoiler anything but mainly the fact that I and so many others can identify myself with every single character. Also the past of the protagonist was so inhuman that I just lost it and had two massive waterfalls of tears flooding my bed. And I'm not a very emotional person when it comes to books. Small note: if you have any experience with cutting, beware!
The Beauty of Deception comes out this summer! You won't have to wait as long to read it! You should totally give The Heart of Betrayal a chance! It was awesome!!! I'm so excited for the finale!!!!!
I was shocked to find out that Les Miserables was so huge. I read a small annotated version (maybe 200-300-something pages?) in middle school and thought that was the whole thing. I know the films and the musical, and I don't think there was anything in them that I didn't know from that book... Which makes me wonder what could *possibly* be in there to fill like 1,200 pages!
I was putting off city of heavenly fire, but now that spring break has started for me I whipped right through roughly 200 pages of it today and I'm loving it. I put it off because I'm so scared to finish the series and because i needed to start when I didn't have school so I could marathon and cry freely
get the audiobook! i loooved it! it was read by chuck bass from gossip girl with his british accent, need i say more?! clockwork princess an audio was by someone else but still highly recommended:)
The Heart of Betrayal picks up RIGHT where The Kiss of Deception left off! And the third book comes out in early August, so you don’t have to wait too long... Please read it soon! It is amazing. So much character development, expansion of the fantasy world, and Lia is such an awesome heroine, even more so than in the first book! Also, I think you will love Six of Crows! It reminded me of a faster-paced, YA version of The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, which I know you loved! (I didn’t like the Grisha trilogy much, either.)
Oh lordy. I think Anna Karenina is the most intimidating book on my tbr pile right now. Translated novels intimidate me in general because I worry about whether I'm reading the best translation. And there are many translations of AK. Not to mention the sheer size of it! Will I ever read it????? Yes. I will. But it scares me. Also, I was underwhelmed by the Grisha Trilogy as well, but really enjoyed Six of Crows. :)
Haha as a German I obviously have to deal with translations as well and only a year ago started buying books in English and honestly, when comparing for example the German translation of Harry Potter with the English one, both are good. And for some reason, German books are mostly at least 350 pages and most books I own are between 300 and 600 pages so I don’t really feel intimidated by a books size haha
Read Lair of Dreams! ASAP! it's so good. I was in the same boat and had read the diviners a couple years back but Lair of Dreams does such a beautiful job of reintroducing the characters I had no problem gliding back into the world. Such a beautifully written story! :)
I heard Lair of Dreams was great as an audio. We all have those books on our shelves that we're just intimidated to start - thanks for sharing your's! I've got House of Leaves and S. staring at me longingly from my shelves
I was literally just talking about this with my cousin! Haha. I've been putting off a lot of the heftier books on my shelf but the main one is The Name of the Wind- I know! Please don't yell at me! 🤗 it sounds so amazing! I am just intimidated by its size. Lol.
I love watching videos about TBRs! I just made a video where I organise my TBR books - and I realised that I keep putting off the same books again and again - haha I need to work on that :)
I've been putting off Anna Karenina for a long time. I started to read it three years back, but the language and the length of the book scared me away. Now that I've gotten back on track with submerging myself into the English of past centuries, I am ready to take on this challenge!
you should totally do another meet & greet in austin! sadly i missed the first one with you and sasha but i would still love another opportunity! love youu!
All I need to say to you Regan is this: Thank you for putting Uprooted into my life. Loving it. I wish it were a series. these in your TBR I know nothing about. The book I'm most scared to read is You by Caroline Kepnes also recommended by Lindsey Rey
I've been putting off Heir of Fire for quite a while, and I've also been putting off the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor, due to their sheer size. However, I just picked up Daughter of Smoke and Bone today, and I'm 50 pages in so far and I love it!
I didn't know what I was getting into when I started A Little life (I picked it up because of the Man Booker longlist) and I think it was the best thing, because if I knew the emotional roller coaster it was going to be I didn't know if I'd have read it. But really, everyone should read it. It's intense, but we are readers! We can handle intense feelings!
I have a first edition of Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon, pre-ordered and everything. That means I've had it since...oh, gosh, 2008. It's over 1000 pages and with a book that long I want a long weekend to plow through it all in one go. The problem is I only have off one day every two weeks, and I'm on a serious non-fiction kick right now as well. Much sadness.
I was so sure you were going to mention 'S' by J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst. I got it for Christmas because I've wanted it for ages but I am so intimidated to start it! A story within a story and no guidelines for what to read and when! I'll pick it up one day when I'm mentally prepared haha.
For me it is A Tale of Two Cities. I trudged through Dickens' A Christmas Carol with gritted teeth and I don't think I can do it. Part of it is that after reading TID I really really don't want to dislike it.
I know how you feel XD. I've been trying to read it for awhile, but I've never gotten past chapter two. I keep telling myself "If Will and Tessa like it, then I'll like it!" But idk, the beginning at least is really dull
Same here woman, that cliffhanger was extremeeeeeee I'm kinda dying right now from not knowing how it will end and I try to forget the books (storyline) for a while but every time the series pops up my mind can't help from asking how it.freaking.will.turn.out.
haha right? Have you read The Winner's Crime series? The third book just came out and I kind of want to reread the other two because I forget stuff. But I think you'd really like it if you liked this series.
Melissa & Lindsay The Winner's Crime series is killing me too hahahaha I really enjoyed the first book but I'm too afraid to continue it TTvTT I don't like when a major conflict happens between the main romance but I already have the books so at some point I will have to read them....probably soon so I don't stumble on spoilers -v-; hope everything works out.......I don't want a repeat of The Shadow and Bone series......have you read that one?
I'm meeting VE Schwab tomorrow at WonderCon and I'm going to have my A Darker Shade of Magic copy signed. My copy of the sequel came as a gift, already signed lol.
Most of the books I've genuinely been putting off on my TBR pile are some theology ones, but I'm finally just jumping in and knocking them out. On another note, The Luminaries sounds kind of fascinating and I have a thing for big books...so I might have to pick that one up soon.
I have a MG trilogy that I've been putting off because I read the description of the first book a few years ago and it sounded SO COOL...but I promptly forgot the title and searched for it for 3 years before I found it again this past summer. Then I found out it was a trilogy and ordered them all but now I'm worried it won't live up to my expectations. SO its still sitting on my shelf lol
I've been putting off The Stand by Stephen King because it's soo huge! Also, Dracula has been in my tbr for so long, I just need to be in the mood to read classics again
please try and read Heart of Betrayal soon! believe me, the pages fly by! like I was reading it and it felt like it had been 10 minutes but when I looked at the clock it had in fact been 2 hours and I was nearly 200 pages in. It's a really easy, quick and fantastic read!!!
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I have tired to read it several times, but for some reason I just can't get past 30 pages of it. I plan to hopefully try to finish it sometime this year though. Hopefully.
I met Hanya Yanagihara a couple days ago and I cried in front of her. So yea. That book will indeed break you. But it's worth it. Also, Hanya Yanagihara is such a badass and I admire her so much.
Oh the TBR pile lol. I finished A Gathering of Shadows and I'm really curious to see what you think. I also have Lair of Dreams on mine; I want to kinda take my time getting to it because I want to know when the next one is coming out. I've been basically binge reading most of her books and I don't want to run out of awesomeness :p
I may or may not have just uploaded a video where I talk about five books that have been on my TBR for five or more years...and at the top of said list is The Night Circus. I also need to read most of these. Yup. The shame is real.
I find that when I'm having a hard time reading a book, I will switch to the audio. There is something about having it read to me that makes it go faster.
I loved The Luminaries, it has a great sense of time and place. I read A Little Life very quickly, but have serious misgivings about it, simply because the long, long list of awful miseries affecting one person tips into the ridiculous and loses credibility.
In the Afterlight!! I've had it for a while now and I really enjoyed the first two books and the first two novellas and I have no idea why I'm putting it off! I think I'm just not in the mood and I haven't the time to fully engross myself at the moment..
The Elephant Keepers' Children by Peter Høeg, All the alight We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. And I cannot seem to finish Fangirl! I love it but I've had so many essays for my English class I can't seem to find the time to finish it and I'm more than half way done with it!!💔💔💔 It is so good!!😢😢👍💖💖
The worst part about my TBR is how small most of the books are. I could read them but I keep buying more and more and then I learned about bookoutlet and things got really out of hand! hahaha
i've been putting off War and Peace, because its huge, even though I loved Anna Karenina. I've also been putting off the last four Outlander books until the end of this semester because A. They're huge, and B. I read the first half in the middle of last semester and ended up losing two weeks of my life to them because I wanted to do nothing but read them.
The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson, that one pretty much beats all the intimidating books I have on my tbr.... I mean ginormous doesn't even cover it
I think my most intimidating is Game of Thrones. I've read the first two...but knowing that I have so many left and the series isn't finished...I keep putting it off. There's so many perspectives and I love it, but each person is like their own mini novella inside the huge book. Also, everyone keeps dying, so that's a downer.
+melany momsen you have to be willing to put in the time and just keep reading forward, some parts are so needlessly drawn out and dry you'll just end up skipping over them. Is it a great series? Yes but it takes a massive amount of dedication. I found the Hobbit to be very quick and a lot of fun to read, I thoroughly enjoyed it more than LoTR
+Light well I recently read it and thought it was fast paced. =D the Frodo and Sam chapter in two towers / Return of the king are SLOOOWWWW af but fellowship was action packed and fast in my opinion =)
Same! I'm so intimated because I don't know if my English is good enough, and I don't want to read the Norwegian translation... I see you posted this 2 years ago, have you read LotR now?
I've been putting off Battle Royale because I'm really bad at remembering names and there is something like 42 Japanese students to remember, plus it's huge too.
I'm kind of putting off Throne of Glass, though it is not a physically large book. I really want to like it and there has been so much hype, idk if it will meet the expectations. And also, it's a high fantasy book and getting into this new world is a lot of commitment. Of course, I'm currently preoccupied with Lady Midnight so that's another reason.
+Michelle Li It was the same for me! I read it eventually and loved it. I know I'm just adding to the hype but it's really great so you should give it a shot. Also, Julian Blackthorn
Few of the books on my TBR are "Little Women" I started this book like 3 years ago and I only got into like the first 100 pages. I mean I have seen the movies and listened to the musical and I LOVE books that tie in literary classics. Like there is this book called "Little Women and Me" where the main character falls asleep and gets sucked into the story of "Little Women" and becomes the 5th sister. Also I have been trying to read " Anne of Ingleside" I am pretty good far into this book, but I have been so busy or pick up other books that I can not seem to pick this book back up. I mean after this book I only have two more books until the end of the series. Plus I NEED to read "Spirit Bound" cause then I will only need to read "The Last Sacrifice" then I will be done with the Vampire Academy series. I also need to read "A Clash of Kings" since I read the first book last summer and I finally have a copy to read. Also "The Book of Life" which is the third book in "Discovery of Witches" series. It is a pretty thick book and I waited like 2 years before I could get my hands on it the first time from the library, but I still have not read it all the way through. Side note I think you should read "Discovery of Witches" series. I think you will like it. Sorry if this was a very LONG comment
I've been putting off A Little Life for the same reason! I've heard fantastic things but also that it will leave me a sobbing mess and I'm not prepared for that lolll
I am reading A Little Life right now and I am only 2 chapters in and it is already bringing on the feels
+ADPiBookworm I cant handle it
What's it about:
+The Astonishing Ashley here is the goodreads page www.goodreads.com/book/show/23751692-a-little-life
+ADPiBookworm I just finished! it was so so good! i cried multiple times throughout
I finished it a week ago and it's now the best book I've ever read.
I'm currently putting off The Name of the Wind, partly because of its size, partly because I think I might just be fantasy'd out right now... I need quite a bit of variety from one book to the next. I do want to read it at some point though.
This is such a cool tag!
+PeruseProject I love your hair and make up you always make my day better with your amazing cooky humor😊
Who else loves Reagan's voice? I find it very relaxing, I feel like she could do audiobooks.
I think your bookshelves are probably the prettiest on booktube (: Every time I watch your videos I'm just like goals wow
The Bone Clocks is amazing! It was my favourite book of 2015.
I'm quite good at putting off books because of their size. Two examples are The Stand and Under the Dome by Stephen King.
Spotting the angelic tune on Reagan's shirt.

mysterygirllpsetc HI!
Heart of Betrayal was so good! I was really worried about not liking it because it wouldn't have the same mystery aspect, but I ended up liking it even more than the first one! The world just opens up and you learn so much. Definitely recommend reading this one soon.

Outfit, hair, and makeup all on point!!!!
+Mikaylee Strohm omg gurl
idk if this counts because I've read it now but Les miserables was my most intimidating book just because it's humongous
Same
I have it sitting in front of me and was about to start it and decided to watch this instead.
Was is good? I kinda want to read it, but dunno if it's worth it
I was shocked to find out that Les Miserables was so huge. I read a small annotated version (maybe 200-300-something pages?) in middle school and thought that was the whole thing. I know the films and the musical, and I don't think there was anything in them that I didn't know from that book... Which makes me wonder what could *possibly* be in there to fill like 1,200 pages!
+Ivli7 I loved it! There were a few parts that dragged and were overly detailed, but overall I really enjoyed it!
I was putting off city of heavenly fire, but now that spring break has started for me I whipped right through roughly 200 pages of it today and I'm loving it. I put it off because I'm so scared to finish the series and because i needed to start when I didn't have school so I could marathon and cry freely
"A Little Life" had me in tears! But it's so worth it!!
Oh, The Heart of Betrayal is simply amazing I loved it! Hope you enjoy it also!
I've been putting off Clockwork Prince for sooooo long and I don't even know why.
oh no! pls read that its great and clockwork princess is even better 😏
get the audiobook! i loooved it! it was read by chuck bass from gossip girl with his british accent, need i say more?! clockwork princess an audio was by someone else but still highly recommended:)
I think I see the angelic power rune on your blouse. I SWEAR IT'S IN THE LACES!
I feel all these books! A Little Life is just staring at me....waiting....and I'm staring back saying, "soon....soon."
trust me the heart of betrayal will have you hooked ten pages in, that book was so absolutely fantastic I can't describe it
The Heart of Betrayal picks up RIGHT where The Kiss of Deception left off!
You can hardly find a booktuber that is not babbler or boring ..I LOVE you channel & you're personality . Keep going 👌🏻
Haha as a German I obviously have to deal with translations as well and only a year ago started buying books in English and honestly, when comparing for example the German translation of Harry Potter with the English one, both are good. woo hoo! its always great to see books about New Zealand mentioned by big You Tubers, it makes me so proud :)
I feel the same way about The Luminaries! I've had it on my shelf for ages and it looks so intimidating.... Hopefully soon I'll give it a go.
Read Lair of Dreams! ASAP! it's so good. I was in the same boat and had read the diviners a couple years back but Lair of Dreams does such a beautiful job of reintroducing the characters I had no problem gliding back into the world. Such a beautifully written story! :)
oh, I just picked up a little life from my library! I'm really looking forward to getting to that one.
A Little Life is honestly an insane reading experience. It ruined me but changed my perspective on so much. You must read it!
I heard Lair of Dreams was great as an audio. We all have those books on our shelves that we're just intimidated to start - thanks for sharing your's! I've got House of Leaves and S. staring at me longingly from my shelves
Okay but like A Gathering of Shadows
SO GREAT, MAN. SO GREAT.

A Little Life was the first book that came to my mind when I saw this title haha, I'm ordering it now! Great video.

I just love your channel! Your facial expressions make me laugh! You have such a wonderful sense of humor! Great video. friend!
The Luminaries is so gooood. And it's actually a really fast read.
Your hair and makeup is on point! And I was super intimidated to read Six of Crows because of the hype
All I need to say to you Regan is this:
Thank you for putting Uprooted into my life. Loving it. I wish it were a series.
these in your TBR I know nothing about. The book I'm most scared to read is You by Caroline Kepnes also recommended by Lindsey Rey

But really, everyone should read it. It's intense, but we are readers! We can handle intense feelings!
I've been putting off finishing Bill Willingham's Fables series. I don't want it to be over.
I keep adding books to my TBR after I watch your video. 📖📚😬
I have a first edition of Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon, pre-ordered and everything. That means I've had it since...oh, gosh, 2008. Lair of Dreams was awesome. I wish I knew when the next book is coming out.
Heart of Betrayal is slow at first but OMG that ending was intense! I get not wanting to wait long for book 3 though. -Melissa

omg you have to continue!! The second book is so good. I did read Shadow and bone but I can't remember how that series ends haha.
Melissa & Lindsay oooohhhh okay I'll continue them once I finish the Mara Dyer trilogy :)
Lair of Dreams is so good! I cried
I have several Tom Clancy books on my TBR. I keep putting them off because they are all 1000+ pages
The Kingkiller Chronicles and Mistborn. I know they're great and I'll more than likely love them but they're massive and make me want to cry
Crime and Punishment, Dr Zhivago, Bel Ami, Madame Bovary, Winter in Madrid,....and a wholle lotta others.
I'm meeting VE Schwab tomorrow at WonderCon and I'm going to have my A Darker Shade of Magic copy signed. My copy of the sequel came as a gift, already signed lol.

i'm currently reading one of the longest books i own! (Words of Radiance) and it's amazing.
I also have yet to read Heart of Betrayal! I really enjoyed the first book
The Luminaries is awesome :) I think you would like it!
All your books are such huge ones!
A Little Life is like nothing I have ever read before. And yes it will destroy you. but read it still. It's incredible.
I've been listening to lair of dreams on audio and loving it!
I've been putting off The Stand by Stephen King because it's soo huge! Also, Dracula has been in my tbr for so long, I just need to be in the mood to read classics again
I'm currently reading cinder and I love it I'm so glad my friends say it can be hard and boring but I have no idea what they are talking about

Never heard of A Little Life (I know, I have been living under a rock). It sounds so interesting though. Gonna hurry up to the book shop now,
I loved The Luminaries, it has a great sense of time and place. I read A Little Life very quickly, but have serious misgivings about it, simply because the long, long list of awful miseries affecting one person tips into the ridiculous and loses credibility.

i've been putting off War and Peace, because its huge, even though I loved Anna Karenina.
I mean ginormous doesn't even cover it
Six of crows, passenger and the second book in the young elites series
What the heck Regan!!!! You need to put down everything and read Six of Crows now!!
I'm scared to read Lord of the rings
Don't be, it's fabolous. Especially "the fellowship of the Ring" is very fast-paced and has easy language.
+books by leynes Lord of the Rings. Fast paced. Hahahahaha Oh boy.
I'm almost done with Six of Crows and it's just so good
I tried to read A Little Life but had to put it down because I just wasn't feeling it. I want to try to read it again though!
I can't finish Red Queen. Loved Cruel Crown and even bought Glass Sword (bc the covers are gorgeous) but I can't get through RQ!
I've been putting off Battle Royale because I'm really bad at remembering names and there is something like 42 Japanese students to remember, plus it's huge too.
Loved Kingdom of Little wounds, but it did take me a while to get into it.
Try the Heart of Betrayal on audiobook - so entertaining and well read!
I'm putting off Anna Karenina since forever. I wanted to read it for so long and I started it a couple of times but it's so intimidating :S
Try reading Marienbad My Love has over 20000 pages in it
I really liked The Diviners, but I couldn't get into Lair of Dreams...I guess I need to pick it back up, and give it a second chance :)
You should do recommendation videos recommending books set in Russia and books featuring pirates, since you love those :D
Lakshmi Manoj I think I'll read it after Lady Midnight cuz a ton of my friends are telling me to read it.
YAS. I LOVE JULES!
Michelle Li That's great! EmmaxJulian will be the death of me.
Lakshmi Manoj They already are...Lady Midnight is breaking my heart but I love it.
Michelle Li Isn't it the same with all good books?
I love this video! I think I'm gonna try this one out on my channel since I have a giant TBR pile :/
