- Checking out the portable, modular MPE MIDI controller - Joué Play, which uses interchangeable rubber pads to let you switch up your configuration depending on what you want to control. Particularly interesting for anybody looking for an affordable entry into the mysterious world of MPE.

I post all of the music I make, including WAV stems; sample packs; Dirtywave M8 song bundles; collections of video textures; early access to videos; and a whole pile of other stuff on Patreon. I know I know, I hate doing this as well, but if you like what I do and want to get more of it, while also helping me offset some of my ludicrous gear purchases, this is the best place to do it:

If you're in the market for new gear, my favourite place to find new and interesting synthesizers and other electronic music gear is Signal Sounds. They are based in Glasgow, but ship all over the place and often have stuff nobody else does. Find them at www.signalsoun...

Yes!!! That feeling when you go looking for a review/demo of a bit of kit and you discover one of your faves have covered it!
I hope it lived up to expectations!!
@@StephenMcLeod totally sound, as always
Nice video! This is the next best thing to actually demo-ing the unit with my grimy graspers.
Grimy Graspers. What a phrase haha
Your comment is exactly what has kept me from purchasing any of these rubberized mat controllers.
Fear that they will disintegrate in short time.😁Play On🎶🎹🎶
I'm a sucker for interesting midi controllers, this looks great, the modular design is a great idea!
It is pretty cool! Glad to meet a fellow midi fetishist
I love everything that's not a standard keyboard. I am also dealing with trying to use standard keyboards, but everything from the Instrument 1, to the Microfreak, to the Kaoss pad - anything nonstandard is my jam.
Really wish there were more options for isomorphic midi keyboards.
Agree!! Kaoss Pad is such a beauty.
Reminds me of the sensel morph. Hopefully it will have greater staying power.
I hadn't actually seen the Sensel before I tried this out!
Whoa! I wanna have it...right now😮! Nah, seriously...this looks so cool and I love weird controllers and synths and stuff...but who doesn't, right?😂
Hell yeah. Anything weird and wonderful is right up my alley!
Seen these a while ago- nice to see your video on it!
I saw them a while back, and was pleasantly surprised when they reached out to have me check them out! Cheers for watching :)
"Je suis un ananas" hahaha. You got "Joué" right tho when you pronounce it with the "é".
Thanks for the review. I've been wondering if I should pick this up and support my country. But if I could find a used Sensel Morph I'm so keen on trying the Buchla Overlay! I feel like it'd pair so well with all the Fors M4L devices!
I actually learned French in High School for like six years... but it was a disaster. My school was a bit rough, and people just could not grasp it at all. It was chaos. I did much better with German since it's harsher ha. I think a lot of folks are interested in the old Morphs for that particular reason!
@@StephenMcLeod German... the language synthesizers speak
Just received my Joué Play. One USBc toUSBc cable 3ft included. That’s all. And if you want to configure the thing the app upgrade costs $50us. I also had to pay $53 cdn to import the Joué Play. Trying to get the MPE to work properly with Ableton Live.
Seems like things have changed since last year
You always find super cool stuff! This thing seems really fun man! And I also had French in high school but I can't speak a lick now nor do I sound good when I try lol 🤣🐀
Omelette due fromage
Impressive little box.
It's a cool idea!
Great info, AND, I absolutely love your eyeglass frames. May I ask where you got them?
why thank ye. The Old Glasses Shop in the UK.
Can you give the link to buy it?
Yeah, link is in the description already, but here ya go! jouemusic.com/products/joue-play-1
The app is Available on ipad- if you dont have a daw??? There are many daws on ipad
Yeah, there is an iPad app apparently!
I can only hope that the round tortoise-shell spectacles denote a capitalist sponsored feeding frenzy for the channel?
I am part of the elite now!!
@@StephenMcLeod Traitor!
@@ichiban8558 We all have our price
@@StephenMcLeod Some lower than others. I reckon Loopop is shittin' hinsen' it's actually a good review....not sure if I could handle the rubber appendages with quite such familiarity.
@@ichiban8558 I love a rubbery appendage
Does it smell?
It does not
Я чуть не захлебнулся,столько воды в видео я давно не видел...

300 bucks and no bluetooth. "Affordable"
Bluetooth still isn't common for controllers like this
Bluetooth would have a huge delay so you couldnt play along to anything
It is affordable and almost no controllers have Bluetooth. What dimension did you fall into this one from?
