Completely agree. Another example or sequence in which we saw a gentler side of Red featured Josephine (from season 3).
This bond between Anne and Redington shows me as a fan, a softer side of Redington. To be honest I think it's there & I ❤ that about him. He doesn't always show much, he does when he wants to.
Completely agree! I loved Red and Anne’s relationship and wish she had lived. It didn’t take long for her to figure out that there were much worse forces in the universe than Red. I’ll never forget how she stood in front of him and refused to move away when Lois threatened to take him into custody.

My pleasure, and thank YOU!! I was and continue to be quite upset about events from 8x14, and in wanting to preserve the joy I felt in watching Red finally experience true joy, love, and acceptance through Anne there was zero chance of my featuring any material from that disaster of an episode here. LaChanze is beautiful, and her work on the show was terrific (as usual). Others can freely disagree, but I found Anne's presence to be both refreshing and essential. That she stood up for him after seeing his other side on full display, for me, speaks volumes and lends credence to the idea of Red being a positive force. Given the nature of her injury, her chances of survival are slim, but I truly hope she makes it - anything to avoid the repetitive and really annoying narrative which calls for Red being responsible and to blame for everything that transpires.

Maybe Liz dies in a act of selflessness and makes a dying request that Red takes care of her daughter. Liz is seeing and responding to hallucinations now so she is already over the edge except for her daughter.

I found Anne's presence to be both refreshing and vital from the standpoint of generating conversation or discussion as to the psychology of "Raymond" versus "Reddington" - who he is as opposed to what the arena he operates in forces him to be. That she (meaning Anne) stood up for him after seeing his other side on full display, for me, speaks volumes. While I'm not optimistic given the nature of her injury, I do hope that she survives, anything to keep from the repetitive and frankly boring as well as incredibly irritating narrative which calls for everything being Red's fault.

Thank you so much, Judith!! It was a pleasure organizing this tribute for Red & Anne, minus any reference to 8x14 because frankly I was disturbed and really upset by the episode. LaChanze was terrific (as usual), and I found Anne to be both refreshing and vital in further addressing the psychology behind "Raymond" versus "Reddington" - who he is versus what the arena he operates in forces him to be. I've always maintained Red is a good man at his core. He's moral and hardened as a result of circumstances not of his volition. That Dembe stands by him supports that, in my opinion. Anne responding similarly after seeing the other side of him on full display speaks volumes. Sometimes, it takes someone from a distance to see the truth or reality in play.
The episode 8x13 was so touching. You get to know Raymond Reddington from a sensitive and vulnerable side. Anne called all of this out in him. As you say, Red is a good person inside and he deserves the love and affection. We don't know exactly what to expect in episode 8x15? I sincerely hope that we will not lose Anne. That would break Raymond and of course us viewers that heart ..💔

I loved Red and Anne's relationship from the standpoint of seeing him experience love, joy, and true acceptance - and by extension escape the tumult and despair of being "at war" with Lizzie and depending on the day of the week the task force. I've always maintained that Red is a good man and has been hardened by circumstances and events not his volition. Anne standing up for him after seeing the other side of him on full display was refreshing to see. It was nice for someone other than Dembe exhibit that. Sometimes, it takes someone from a distance or with an outside perspective to see the reality of the situation. Anne sees the truth. For Red's sake, I hope she survives - anything to avoid the repetitive narrative in which he's blamed or deemed at fault. Her fate is mental Lizzie's responsibility. Period.

And I know it was selfish of Red to get involved with Anne knowing the harm it could (and did) bring to her, but I understand too his desire to be happy. I think Liz even momentarily realized it and that's why she didn't shoot him. That'll all change next week and she'll be hating and hunting him again. I don't get her loyalty to this mother that she never knew and disloyalty to a man who cherishes her (but that's a discussion for another time lol) I hope Anne survives too and that we see them together on the series finale. That would warm my heart.
Is it wrong to continue hoping that somehow Anne is alive and well - or recovering at least? How or better still why the task force in increments continues communicating with Lizzie as if she’s the injured party is perplexing to me. Yes, Red getting involved with Anne was risky, but again he’s earned some peace and to have something uniquely his own. She, meaning Anne, was a safe harbor for him, and I loved seeing him in that space. It’s very different than what he enjoys with Dembe. Speaking of which, I wonder how he’ll respond when Isabella’s total lapse of judgment comes out.
@@nikkixsensei It's not wrong at all... in fact I've been hoping the same thing. It would be so wonderful for them to end up together. I'd love to see the look on his face again whenever he looked at Anne. But, sadly, I think, we may be hoping against hope. I'm thinking that because of the meeting with Anne's daughter. I don't think Anne would agree to subjecting her daughter to the pain of thinking she was dead. And, girl, I just don't get the task force. Why they are so Team Liz is beyond me. And Ressler has lost his common sense. But I have another issue too: this N13 business. Really, what difference does it make if Red is N13? I could understand it if over the last 8 years he had been gathering US intelligence from them and passing it on to Russia, but the task force have never given him any Intel. In fact, he knows more than they do. And Liz hates him because she thinks he's a Russian spy, but this so- called mother she just met was absolutely a Russian spy. I'm disappointed in the direction the show is going. I think it would have been perfect if Red had turned out to be Ilya and we could have been done with "who is Red" and moved on to catching blacklisters. As for Isabella, I hope that Dembe never finds out what she did.
Common sense or sense of any kind for that matter is a lost commodity where the task force is concerned. This sudden Lizzie/Ressler push is a bit aggravating too. The entire premise of the show was her relationship with Red. Frankly, as much as I adore Diego, I just don’t see emotional depth between the characters. Each of their expressions and vocal tone are flat and one-note. As for Anne, I agree that she wouldn’t put her daughter in such a position. Then again, Red’s world and entering it as a result of truly loving him are new terrain for her so who knows. When you experience something so rare and uplifting, you’d do anything to preserve it I find - sometimes, at the expense of others we may also love and care about. Not to mention that Red’s philosophy in this respect is to use distance as a mechanism for generating or securing safety. Finally, there’s Isabella. Let’s just say there’s a certain fanfiction story I’ve neglected to update for some time in which she plays a vital part in the chain of events. Think I’ll get around to writing the next chapter ASAP. 😉🙏🌹

Excellent. I am still sad that they killed Anne off but, she, LaChanze, is such a strong actor I guess that they had nowhere to go with her character. I was holding out for her to be hemed up somewhere recovering and protected. But, how much bird watching, bridge and sandwiches can remain interesting? It was a good and elegant story line.
