    Amanda I was so impressed with the foiling on your wedding card demo that I came looking for your video. I found it here and it was a miracle as I was looking for something else at the time and then I saw your name and foiling. So I found it by sheer accident. I was so happy and was glad to see it. I love foiling. It is a subtle bling that one can add to a card. Love it. your wedding cards reminded me of how much I loved it and I did buy the foil and got a cheap machine at the store but it was only $20 so I know it's not for professional use. I can see yours is. I also went to the Patsy site and saw her demo too. I'm still going to get that machine..Here in US they cost $180 ...Loved it.

      It is a really great machine and It does laminating too which is really fab. The only thing pat to say before you buy is that your printer needs to be a laser printer otherwise this machine won't foil on your printed image or words. Its something to do with how the laser ink reacts with the foil that makes it stick whereas normal printers it doesn't :-)

    I did get a little HP Laser Jet printer P1006. So I think it will work. My Epson died after 15 yrs and that was a color. This one is just black...that laser stuff. I always forget.
    Thanks Amanda you're always an inspiration to a lot of us. take care

    well it cost me about alot less than it is now as i purchased it a few years back. But now it is selling at £120, which compared to other machines where you can only use their plates to create your image or sentiment and the machines are much more money I think that is pretty good.Plus this laminates. Go to my FB page i have put the link to the store so you guys can see the machine and the foils :-)

    Any idea what mono laser printer I should buy to work with this?? I have tried 3 normal laser printers, with no luck, but dont have access to a mono one and don't want to buy the wrong one!! Thanks in advance for any help! Desperate to get printing my wedding invites x

    • @lollilulucrafts
      @lollilulucrafts  Před 8 lety

      +claireyfairy I just used a normal laser printer, I don't know anything about mono or even what that means. Mine is a full colour laser printer and the foiling machine works fine with it. Are you sure you are using the right foil? that is essential, you can't just use any foil and the kind of foil that sticks to adhesive won't work at all. You need to foil that is designed for heat :-)

      +Lolli Lulu Crafts Thank you! I have got a new printer today so will test tonight - we know it isn't the foil or foiling machine as we had the test prints from supplier which work perfectly just anything from the 4 printers we currently have don't give the best results! Will update if we have luck with the new mono (black and white only) printer tonight :)

    Will any toner based laser do for this foil laminating and what colour do you print onto the media prior to foil laminating, like could I print HAPPY BIRTHDAY with black toner then hot foil a midnight blue over it to fished effect or do you need to learn what colours to work with and print to your media?

    • @lollilulucrafts
      @lollilulucrafts  Před 9 lety

      Mark McCann No always print in black and then any colour foil - as long was it is foil suitable for heat foiling - can be used over the top (place the foil colour side up) Any toner laser will work :-) Check out my other foiling video and you will see an insert that I made, it may help you see it in action czcams.com/video/Y8g3c85HsUI/video.html Hope that helps x

    • @lollilulucrafts
      @lollilulucrafts  Před 9 lety

      Mark McCann That isn't what I thought you were asking. You can't get the foil onto the printed image without the foiling machine. Check out the other video and you will see what I mean :_)

    • @markmccann5191
      @markmccann5191 Před 9 lety

      Lolli Lulu Crafts Do you mean the laminating machine? Sorry if I'm confusing you, I first came across hot foil machines and didn't know whether one at $300 or $2000 would do, I wanted to make birthday cards and achievement certificates and things like that, Obviously you cant run a leather wallet through your 10mil laminator lol, though some would probably try. And maybe that's where a hot foil press would be used. But what do I know, Yeah so what I was saying is, Now that ive found your video's if I just want to start off doing like 220gsm glossy pre scored card, I could just skip out the hot foil stamping machine for now and go directly to the hot lamination process like what you have demonstrated and get myself a laser printer, which I was going to get anyway, I just didn't know you could hot foil with a laminator, so thank you for altering the course of my life lol.

    @sandeepbasti Před 10 lety

    what is the specification or brand of the foil to use in this machine? and can we use noramal lamination machine for this purpose or we need dedicated one? pl let me know

    • @lollilulucrafts
      @lollilulucrafts  Před 10 lety

      I wouldn't know Im afraid I am just a consumer, I only know about how to use the machine. But if you follow the link that is in the para below the video that will take you to the website of the company that makes and sells them and they will give you all that information I am sure. However one point to make that i do know, you cannot use any foil in this machine, you must use foils that are designed for a hot foil machine, The temperatures reached are very high so regular foils are unsuitable. I also do not recommend using a regular laminator for this job. Thx Amanda :-)

    Hi Amanda, I have been experimenting with foiling just using die cuts with double sided adhesive and a laminator which works quite well but would love to foil my own card stock. I have looked at laser printers but not sure which model is best for printing on card as most only seem to take paper or very thin card. Which printer do you use and does it take card stock. Thanks for any advice. Sue. PS love the video.

    • @lollilulucrafts
      @lollilulucrafts  Před 8 lety

      +Susan Sellars I would agree most lasers don't take anything that thick because of the way they have to take the paper through the machine because of the ink cartridges. To be honest i really only can go to heavy paper or light card with it, Its my dads printer so I just print some bits off as and when I need it, I think it is a canon but it is very old :_( My normal printer is a cheap little thing just a regular ink jet and that will print really thick card cos it has the back feed but sadly no good for foiling. I think that you would need to prob get some advice from a computer store as to whether there are any laser printers that print on the thicker material if that is what you want it for. What I tend to do is print onto the paper then stick that onto card, then die cut that as a whole if that helps at all :-)

    • @susansellars3803
      @susansellars3803 Před 8 lety

      Thanks for that, I have enquired at several printer companies and they all say 190 gsm is about the thickest for the higher priced printers. I did print some out on my pc and took it to the local print shop but I think I needed to print it larger and bolder as the foil didn't stick to all of it. I don't want to pay a lot as I have a good inkjet printer. I have used double sided sheets for foiling die cuts (and tape for striped) which works quite well.
      Thanks again,
      Sue xx

    • @lollilulucrafts
      @lollilulucrafts  Před 7 lety

      for this one you do, It is something to do with the way the ink attracts the foil when heated. I dont know about the laminator - to me this machine is just a laminator and I certainly have used it as such but I dont want to say to yeah go ahead and then you end up setting fire to the whole house or something. So all I would say is try it but cautiously xx

      Thanks for help ! Will tread carefully, just thought the foiling machine was so like my laminater it would be crazy not to try it out ! Will look into the laser printer though , hopefully the are not to expensive , I was thinking of making my daughters wedding invites ! Fingers crossed

    • @lollilulucrafts
      @lollilulucrafts  Před 7 lety +1

      Helen Jardine The other option is to get a stamp pad that is the glue pads and stamp a sentiment on the wedding invite, wait for the glue to be 'dry' - these glues never dry actually just stay tacky and thats when you add regular foil - even nail art foil will work. gently rub and lift and it will stick only where the glue is :-)

    • @lollilulucrafts
      @lollilulucrafts  Před 8 lety

      +Yasser H. I may not have done perfect work in this video - after all at the time it was new to me but now I have had it some time and if you look at a more current video with this machine it foils perfectly and only where I want it to be. At the end of the day of course any 'foiling' machine of this style that is using heat is basically a laminator too, I didn't think that was really a big shock to anyone so I don't think it really requires such a dramatic response from yourself. It is a foiling machine or laminator if you prefer NOT life & death! so please get a grip! Really!!!

      +Yasser H. I am a lawyer I never take anything personally lol! plus I don't like yes people. No it was just the 3 million exclamation marks and the rather dramatic effect those plus the use of capitals has. when reading it with all this there it cannot be helped but to read it and hear a very over excited response. If that was not your intent, then I retract my comment and apologise. But might I politely suggest that you re-read your original comment in the cold light of day and see if you can't see why I would read it the way I did. I actually have no issue with what you said, as you will see from my reply I actually agreed with you. I love to have people come on here with a whole heap of different views to me, I just like them to be said nicely, calmly and politely. But again if I misjudged then apologies :-)
