Kings X ......Great band great album.....here's a true story::.....winter, London 1988...I'd had a drink or two with friends and we were walking along Tottenham Court Road when we heard a band playing in a small pub. We went in and found it was King's X playing a free set 2 hours before they Headlined at the Asoria Theatre just around the corner.....they were brilliant, had a chat with us and it turned out they were the most humble guy's you could meet......got tickets for the main gig also.......Great night.....Great band.
As a drummer…..Back in High School,I was a complete Rush head….and I got stuck in a rut. KingsX broke me out. They inspired me to find my own groove! Don’t get me wrong, I love Rush but this band was just what I needed to find my own sound and feel. I’ve even met them a couple of times, super humble and very gracious with their time. They are sooo good live but I encourage you to listen to their first 5 albums to get what they are about before doing so. But don’t pass on a chance to see them live!
Wow. You told this story for the both of us until you mentioned meeting them. lol
😂
They sort of invented a genre unto themselves. Classic hard rock, often a metal edge, plus huge doses of folk, prog, and syncopated funky grooves. Beatle-esque and Yes-esque vocal harmonies. And somehow helped inspire the grunge thing too. When I got burned out on Rush in the 90s, King's X soothed my soul.
Dig the first 4 albums.
The first 7 and the last 2 are the best
My favorite from this album is The World Around Me. Awesome groove, great vocals and harmonies. Definitely Fire! 🔥😎☮️🔥
One of my top 5 bands. Don't give up on them. I was so shocked PLEIADES didn't do it for you. That backup harmony vocals is pure ear candy and major atmosphere. LOVE Ty's vocals just as good as Dug's. As a drummer, Jerry is one of my fav groove players. Soooo tasteful.
King's X is one of those bands that you either get it or you don't.
This is my favorite King's X album - love this song. That was Ty Tabor on back-up.
I saw them play then when they toured in support of this album in 92. They had a roadie come out and play an acoustic guitar for the verses. Sounded just like the album. They where on fire at this point of their career. Cheers!
Moanjam is a great track.
Dimebag was a big fan of this
Band…
King's X is so incredibly awesome. Long live the King's!
Great song from a great album from the greatest band ever!!
I think you will dig Ear Candy and also the much later album Mr Bulbous (2000)... Prisoner is great though, that tour smoked, and Ty's solo in this song... god damn....
So underrated
IMO, Ty's best solo on this album.
This is classic King’s X. It’s 80’s. Still awesome if you started listening to them back then, but to a new listener now it sounds dated. For modern King’s X start with the Dogman album. That’s mid 90’s. Brendan O’Brien produced it and it sounds a lot different than their classic albums. Many great songs on that album.
This is maybe my favorite King's X song. It's got a little bit of everything that they do well, including Ty murdering his guitar on the way out. Bonus nerd fact: It's one of their few songs (or at least it was) that's in standard tuning, so (with A LOT of practice) it's not quite as impossible to figure out on the guitar as a lot of their other stuff ... for someone like me who's a garage hack, anyway.
Ty Tabor worked in a recording studio at a very young age iirc
Fave song off this album and love the guitar solo even if I am a drummer! 😜
Their first 5 albums have that great production. Unfortunately it got a little spotty on different albums after that. I appreciate you're open to their music. There's a song(s) in that catalog somewhere that'll knock the socks off...just probably not a Ty song. lol
Enter the Jelly Jam rabbit hole. Ty will blow your socks off
A king's x discography?
the later albums are a rough run
@@katskillz They were still fire up through Ear Candy. Tape Head was pretty damn good as well.
In regard to really awesome. Try Plieades from Gretchen goes to Nebraska and We were born to be loved from Faith hope love.
Moanjam, as other people have mentioned! From Faith Hope Love.
so fucking good. get it.
Titans King's X. Believe it!
This song gets a bit repetitive in places in my opinion. However, I still like it.
I don't think dude has any idea of what he's listening to. Hey, dUg anything from the congregation?
