I was there when this footage was shot and 24 years old at the time. Absolutely mesmerizing. I didn't appreciate what a glorious time it was, of course. So full of possibilities and no worries. SF was an adult theme park back then. Safe after dark. Very few homeless people living on the streets.

9 years after the “Summer of Love”.
3 years before HG Wells visited SF in the movie “Time After Time”.

This video was actually taken the next year (1977) - the white multi story building in the lower left hand corner at 8:29 is nearing completion in it's construction (the old Bank of America Data Center), and was completed exteriorly in that year.

I just landed on this; I lived there from 1977 until 2022 and this film does a wonderful job at showing the city and its outskirts as they were. Also, nice music to accompany you down memory lane :-))

Excepting for the growth of computers, internet, and smart phones (all tech), life was pretty much the same.

Nostalgia forgets all the wicked things going down in San Francisco in the 1970s. Jim Jones just to name one. It’s not perfect now, it wasn’t perfect then, a very interesting place to grow up and live.
