Years and years ago, I'm talking before I was even born, my Mum bought my Granny a rose plant for her birthday, at the time it had been reduced. But even so the rose bush grew and every year it blooms on her birthday. When my Dad and Grandpa bought a house together, they took the rose bush with them and it still blooms every year around the time of my Gran's birthday.

*we actually grew sunflowers in three different conditions to see which was the best, but still...
I did it in college.
In 6th grade we had Wisconsin fast plants that some groups put in a windowsill and others put on the opposite side of the room to see the difference.
When I taught preschool we would make a maze in a box and plant beans and only allow light from a hole at the end of the maze. It was very fun for the kids to see how the bean sprout would follow the maze to get to the light.
I never did it
We called plant flowers pretty, ugly or just ignored them and then the teachers told us to do the same with people, so I did; called my crush amazing, told my rival to drown in a puddle of their parents disappointment and ignored the teachers

To germinate, they don't need any nutrients. Water activates them and their food is in the seed. They don't even need sunlight for a while.

Now you've learned some important things; roots need nutrients and aeration, and glasses are not pots. Pots have drainage holes, which prevents mold. Compacted aggregate (soil) prevents water and air from permeating and roots need nitrogen from the aerated soil. Seeds can live off of their internal nutrients until they run out, but they need drainage and breathing room. Kinetic sand may also be toxic for plants too; toxins can leech from wet aggregate and permeate dampened seeds.
Maybe try burying them in pots or planters and way, way shallower. Either way seeds need to be kept *damp* not wet. It's better to water them less but more often. The drainage tray under pots allow water to drain and also be drawn up as needed to keep soil damp. If you want clear containers, get clear plastic cups and drill some small holes in the bottoms, then set them on shallow dishes to catch drainage.

Years ago when I read it was nontoxic I tasted a very small amount, it's very sweet but if you've ever had sand in your teeth you know it's unpleasant.

The reason the seeds didn't grow is because the kinect sand is too compact, the kinect sand didn't allow for air and water to get through. Putting the seeds on a wet paper towel aka the paper towel mothod works because it holds the moisture longer. (Im a horticulturist im currently on my second year in the program)

My theory as to why they didn't grow in the kinetic sand but they sprouted in the paper towel is because the paper towel is still made of organic material and it can hold water (it is hydrophilic) for the seedlings.

Calli’s hair looks cool at the start of the vid! Also, if you want seeds to grow faster in Kinetic Sand or not, you might want to place them in a larger pot. Otherwise they’ll get what’s called root bound where the roots can’t expand and soak up water as easily. That’s sort of analogous to keeping Nate in a pair of jeans until they begun to hurt.

OXYGEN!!! There is no oxygen available for the plants/roots! You need to aerate the medium for the plant to thrive.
